To those voting to "witness the greatest story ever told", would you mind clarifying what the actual end goal is? As Pyro said, the goal is reaching the summit for the wish, I don't quite know how I'd specifically write that wish out.

After a lot of thinking, I'm gonna have to veto the "Witness the greatest story" vote.
It's highly confusing and no matter what meaning I find in it, it's too esoteric and meta. Either you guys want to climb to the summit to just say "I don't want to be the main character", or "I want to see a brand new Quest as the reward for finishing this one."
I apologize, I don't like vetoing votes, but it simply won't work, at least from every angle I've tried looking at it from.
I don't think that counts. If you climb up the mountain, you would want something important, and yes while climbing up the mountain is an adventure by itself, repeatedly doing so is...confusing to me.
"I shall wish to eat the world's best sandwich!" you declared to the void. "I have tried and eaten all other sandwiches this world has to offer, but they have not satisfied me! Only divinity can craft me a sandwich that can justify my existence on this world!"
"A simple goal...some would consider it a waste. But I can feel your determination. Very well! You may enter mountain, child. With any luck, I shall see you at the summit!" the voice said with a hearty chuckle. Suddenly, another violent burst of dizziness overtook you and you passed out, with the booming words throbbing in your mind...
---
Your eyes snapped open and you found yourself in grassy plain. You sat up, confused. Had you not entered the mountain? Looking around, all you saw was endless plains and a bright blue sky. Had you been taken elsewhere? Before you could decide on what to do, you heard a voice calling out! "Oi! We got another one!"
Turning your head, you saw a small group of people wearing medieval armor, riding horses. About four in all, you counted. Standing up, the group stopped in front of you and the supposed leader dismounted his horse. He took off his helmet to reveal a handsome looking man with a cleft chin and glittering blonde hair!
"Are you another hiker?" the man asked.
"Huh...?" you grunted, confused.
"Those who have been chosen to climb to the summit of the mountain," the man explained. "Usually when worthy people are admitted into the mountain's base, they appear here at this field."
"But how are we at the mountain's base? I can see no mountain, the sky is clear and..." you trailed off, holding your head as a small headache began to throb.
"We don't know, the God-King is a divine figure, we assume it is magic of his. According to other hikers, other parts of the mountain are themed by whoever controls the domain of different floors," the man shrugged. "But answer me, you are a hiker?"
"Hm...yeah, I am," you answered, feeling no reason to lie to them for now.
"Wonderful! We are members of a guild that helps out new hikers! I am Branton," the man said, introducing himself finally. "Who are you?"

"I am Ruben no Dresing, you may call me Ruben," you said, introducing yourself. "Also known as the Sandwich Saint."
"The...Sandwich Saint?" Branton repeated in confusion.
"Indeed. I want to reach the summit to eat the perfect sandwich, one that will justify my existence," you said.
"An odd goal, but I heard so many so far that I cannot judge," Branton shrugged. "By the by, can you fight at all?"
"Of course I can, have no fear of that. I have endured many challenges eating the sandwiches of the world," you calmly replied.
"All...right? So tell me, would you mind if I had a quick spar with you? Not to toot my own horn, but I am pretty strong you know!" Branton boasted.
"I suppose so, I do want to make sure if my powers are still usable within this realm," you replied. Branton gave you a large smile before backing away and unsheathing a broadsword that was strapped to his back.

Branton was first to strike, making a deliberately slow swing of his blade to make sure he didn't injure you badly. Or he was swinging as fast as he could and it was slow compared to your speed. You lithely jumped and landed on his sword before thrusting your foot into Branton's face. He hissed in pain as you back-flipped off the sword, landing lightly on your feet.
Recovering, Branton charged forward and swung his two-handed blade once again. You easily dodged his attack by stepping to the side and countered with a punch to his face, making him reel backwards. Clutching his face, he said, "You're fast! But is dodging and countering all you can do?"
"I suppose I can use this..." you muttered as you pulled out your preferred weapon...
