...Right. Well. At least
this situation is one you're prepared for, as much as you can be prepared for anything, these days.
"Sora, do you need help?" Birdramon asks you. You nod.
"Yes, please." It's never failed to amaze you to see her take off, to spread her wings and just.... move. You're pretty sure normal birds don't work that way, but Birdramon's
special, because she's your Digimon.
She doesn't arrange herself all that well. But you have less of a drop now, and that's helpful, because Kari's starting to
actually freak out. You're worried about her, but right now, what matters is the landing. You close your eyes, trust your partner not to let anything go wrong... and let go.
Soft feathers cushion your fall, in just the way you were expecting, and Kari wriggles free of your grip to grab on to your partner. Which is fair, she's the one keeping the two of you from hitting the ground and shattering. You don't really play a part in this beyond being the one who fuels her Digivolutions.
Birdramon floats a bit lower to the ground, and once the height is a bit safer, Kari leaps off of her back and lands on the ground, just sitting there for a moment.
"Kari, why did you do that?" Bukamon asks. She shakes her head.
"Too high..." ...Okay, yeah, you
definitely need to hurt someone.
"Kari, we need to go back to the others," You point out. "It'll take longer if we walk. Are you sure you don't want to fly?"
"I'm sure." ...Well, it looks like you're
walking back, then. It's not quite what you expected when you woke up this morning, but in all honesty, you don't know why you even bother expecting things anymore.
"Birdramon, go a bit ahead. Make sure it's safe," You say, deciding that you don't want to try and fight anything at the moment. You're just going to walk and enjoy the nice weather while it lasts.
...It comes to mind that it hasn't rained
once since you got here, and that might be concerning. But it's not your problem, anyway.
By the time you get back to the old card shop, the moon is high in the sky and everyone is asleep. You don't blame them. Even Izzy's curled up in the corner, next to his laptop that is now covered in Digicode runes. You're
hoping that they only have an effect in this world, because the alternative is honestly more terrifying than the residential computer nerd has any real right to be. World made of data or not.
Mimi is up against a different wall, using Palmon for a pillow. Somehow, that doesn't surprise you in the slightest. The various Digimon are all spread out, snoozing away. From his position, you figure that Ogremon was supposed to be on watch, but dozed off. This doesn't really surprise you, either.
Of course, this means that your plan of 'give simplified explanation, details in the morning' isn't going to work that well. You may have to
actually put in some effort before you crash. Oh, well.
[ ] Wake up Ogremon. Tell him the time, figure out the watch schedule from there, everything else can wait.
[ ] Wake up Izzy. Focus on the details, let Kari do most of the talking... it should be fine.
[ ] ...Nobody's going to attack an abandoned card shop. Time for sleep.
