@King50000 Want to at least add the motor shop to your plan? That seems pretty essential for keeping a fleet of technicals and such up and running, and you've certainly got the budget for it without even really cutting into your plan's month and a half of fortifying our base instead of building.

I've added that plus an expanded yard, so that we can have a sizable fleet of technicals when the time comes.

Why so many votes for Getting Started? No reason to waste construction time, we've got plenty of cash to splash.
 
Getting Started sinks unused construction time into base defenses. Since we're already rumbling with tax collectors it's good to be prepared for unfriendly visitors.
 
As it stands, baring a few small items, the real difference between the plans is that mine gives us an engineering school, and theirs gives us whatever fortifications we can make in a month and a half. I am of the opinion that at this stage, there is very, very little we could defeat with fortifications around our base but not without them, since our contras would be stretched really thin and we've got nothing heavier than rifles, and that if anyone does find our base and report on it, that's probably the end anyway because Zimbabwe has armor and an air force, and we don't even really have the logistics yet to flee all at once with any real hope of making it out. However, other people may view it as planning ahead for a time when holding off an attack might be possible and useful, and attacks are more likely to actually happen.

As for why an engineering school in particular, not only does the cost fit in well around the essentials (a big plus), but it also will allow us to expand our construction capabilities, improving the speed at which we can improve our base, but more crucially giving us the potential to get to make a real dent in improving the rural infrastructure locally, which I think ought to be a big part of our plan for both unfucking our logistics and winning over the neighbors.

Very little information to work with.

Waiting for the contacts to deliver a report and events to move forward.

As it stands, base building just isn't that controversial when we literally have no idea what we face in terms of opposition.
