*shrug*

Iunno. She still has Momma Mantis to deal with if Buffy finds her. Besides a more concrete reason is that the Idol is not going to brook non-Fog Demon monsters anywhere near her. Not when they are such good food. :V

[X] You stay here and linger by the Bronze, picking out, interrogating and killing vampires as they trickle in while you wait for the Mother Mantis to possibly show up.

I'd rather deal with this mantis away from her lair. By killing the daughter we've enraged her and gotten her to leave whatever defenses she has. If she comes to attack us she'll have to deal with a wizard that was expecting her, which is never a pleasant experience.

[X] You go to the central Sunnydale cemetery and hunt down vampires within it, interrogating and killing them while you wait a few hours for the Mother Mantis to leave a trail you can follow.

we're going to have to hunt down her nest anyways.

But, hmm. This is actually a good question. Speaking seriously here I think I will need to think about this sort of thing a little more. I've been a little bit loose with the Idol's motivation on killing things beyond being territorial.

They're tasty!

Because eating the vampires will be more problematic if there's a chance of Angel spotting us while we do it.

At this rate the Scoobies are going to have a fairly normal high school year.
*is about to say something*

Sorry can't. That'd be spoilers. Dammit.

More in depth character interaction with the Scoobies to influence her hobbies would be a thing to add.

I'd rather not be distracted by a large number of vampires while we face mother mantis.

The sewer's are a massive magic circle, right? Like in full metal alchemist. Tough I suppose she has not the fluency in fiction to come to this conclusion.

And you see understanding on her face, and not the simple form of it either. She can see the true shape of the Folly of Latria which you describe.
Magic languages are much like math that explains pfysics. Cause math leaves nothing to question, just as magic language conveys ideas in entirety without a chance for it being interpreted in ways not meant by the conveyancer.

I think it's something to that effect for the entire town(it has been a while since I watched the show), but to use a metaphor I like, "It's like a fly crawling across a painting".

Luckily humans and daemons aren't flies. An artist could trace the paths walked and interpolate the patterns within their mind. While a math wizard could take a few notes and extrapolate with trigonometry, or something. Tho if there is some euclidean geometry there, it'll end up very confusing I imagine. And anyone else wouldn't get much, unless they're like one of those land surveyors who work on fixing sewers and keeping blueprints up do date, comparing with past ones and making sure they work together. Or if there is a convenient book with the map of what's below the city, wouldn't put past for it's a fictional world- after all.
Well she knows that the tunnels are deliberately designed and has some significance. It doesn't matter if it partly exists in another dimension or if it's a plain old giant magic ring. Sufficient magical ammunition will be able to disrupt it's purpose regardless. Tho if she would want to do so is uncertain, it may have connections to the master. or it may not be mystically significant after all. Hellmont is a weird place.

I've only seen a few episodes of Buffy. Most I know of it is vampires explode, Buffy does a lot of stuff in the cemetery and that there are some witches who do witchy things that suffer from demonic possession or something. Oh and there may be multiple apocalypses imminent. Tho It's likely I'm mixing up memories of similar shows, been a real long while since I saw any of their ilk.

You're making a fun show, story, quest. I don't find the need to dive into the wiki for clarification of Buffys lore, so I think you are executing it well. Nor Deamon souls for that matter, which I know almost nothing of.
