Maybe I'm seeing a little too much of myself when my parents tell me to get a job in our dragon protagonist, but I'm surprised there's no "I'll get to it, I promise" response.

I suspect that was the response the last 40 or 50 times Eldingar was asked about finding a mate, and his mom is PROBABLY not going to take that as an answer now. :V

The dragon standing beside her looks uncomfortable and completely out of place for a multitude of reasons. His scales are such a bright flame-orange that he pops absurdly to the eye when compared to Mother beside him and the overcast grey all around, his chest and belly creamy-white. He's not from around here, that much is obvious. He's more sinuous, more serpentine, overall longer from snout to tailtip compared to you and without any wings you can see. You guess that if he shifted up to full size he could coil around your entire spire and bite his own tail, although you see no reason why he would, that's just silly. It's difficult to see in this light, but his scales even seem to have an iridescent sheen to them. Also he has an impressive mane of golden hair flowing from behind his coral antlers and down his long neck and matching moustache which you think looks absolutely silly on a dragon even though you're also intensely jealous. He glances at you askance with one emerald-green eye but otherwise looks to Mother for what he's supposed to be doing.
oh no don't you just want to comfort him

[X] Bring up the treasure map you bought at the market that pointed you to a djinn. You'll use your sixth months to find everything it points to and then you'll have the greatest hoard in all the clan and nobody will dare talk about shame, she'll see, they'll all see.

Hah, jokes on you mother, we're going on a quest for Phat Lewt!

(Possibly literally, depends if they've got Da Booty.)

Ifrit X Jun-Ho OTP.

Incidentally, how likely is it that Jun-Ho took a trip to a different continent to avoid his family telling him to pick a nice girl/boy to settle down with? Or Ifrit's been hiding in his bachelor lamp for a few thousand years for the same reason?

[X] Meekly agree to court Jun-ho in preparation for the party, so as not to embarrass her. M-maybe it won't be so bad? It's not like he's all that comfortable with it either.

Very long boy sighted. First pic added to the Boyfriend Bestiary, second added to the update!

Ifrit didn't mess with our wish. He's a keeper.

Poor Jun-ho, watch him be in the same boat as us.

See, I'm kinda worried abo0ut bringing up the Map to our mother, lest that information work its way through The Auntie Network. And suddenly everyone wants a piece of the pie, so to speak.

- [X] Jun-Ho can tag along if he wants

onward to adventure and harem shenanigans!

-[X] Ask Jun-Ho along, could be a great bonding experience (about how terrible your mom(s) are)

I must find more bois for my boidex in my boimon game. And then cry when they gave sad backstories and are fully fleshed characters with agency.

So if Eldingar's mother is basically the Draconic version of Lucille Bluth who's the draconic version of Lucille Austero Lucille Bluth's arch nemesis?

Gdi we've already got two right here! Let's at least learn about 'em and shit before we go start hunting down more.

Somewhat seriously I feel more engaged by the idea of playing along a little at least, although I get that immediately bucking authority is kinda the SV thing to do in quests. Imo agreeing to courtship doesn't preclude the treasure hunt but it does shift the focus of what Mother expects from us (if she knows about the hoard-gathering idea and approves it's either 'cause she's stapled Jun-ho to us as an insurance policy or because she's gonna be expecting regular check ins or both). Plus immediately going "fuck you nah not interested" is probably going to at least hurt the new guy's feelings, even if in a somewhat abstract way, and definitely shift the focus off of him. At least to some degree? Make him more standoffish if nothing else.

Which feels like a bit of a shame tbh, just judging by his initial characterization we have a fair bit to bond over and could probably hit it off fairly well.

Although frankly I'll freely admit that this is partly just a weird desire to see if a quest can actually, like, listen to an IC voice of social authority. Ngl from what I've seen it almost never happens and the first (and second and third and fourth) instincts are usually to flip a double bird regardless of how sensible it is and strike out alone. It'd be interesting to subvert that, at least to some degree. You get better character-stuff out of engaging I think? Versus just fucking off.

I feel like he's the perfect person to share our misery with. How did our mother get her claws in this handsome stranger? How did she drag him out here? Does he like booze? (He better like booze, because we've got way too much of it.)

Also; this quest is amazing.
