[X] Meekly agree to court Jun-ho in preparation for the party, so as not to embarrass her. M-maybe it won't be so bad? It's not like he's all that comfortable with it either.

[X] Bring up the treasure map you bought at the market that pointed you to a djinn. You'll use your sixth months to find everything it points to and then you'll have the greatest hoard in all the clan and nobody will dare talk about shame, she'll see, they'll all see.

While personally I was hoping for hot dragon on adventurer action. He seems cute.

Dragon<3<3<3

*cough* so if I folded him into, say, fourths
she would tower over him?
Oh uh, the image I was intending to convey was that he was in bipedal humanoid form just like Eldingar and his mother during the meeting, hence the narration mentioning 'if he shifted up to full size'. 'Full-size quadruped', 'human-proportion biped' and 'various humanoid disguises' are the three major shapes for dragons, and when space is kind of at a premium the default is the second option. But that's alright! You are correct that he is a Longboi.

Fwumpf. All around you dozens upon dozens upon dozens of iron-banded wooden barrels materialise out of thin air in puffs of glittering golden dust. So crowded for space and stacked so high that you realise, just as Mother sticks her neck down the hole to cast a critical eye, it almost completely blocks your cave from view. She glares suspiciously at the vineyard markings, and you spare an anxious glance in kind to determine that yes, they are the good stuff. Red wine from a vineyard on the slopes of a volcano, somewhere south you think. You whip your head right back around to meet Mother's gaze and flash her a wide, toothy, not-at-all-terrified grin of innocence and pleasure at her company.

hiding the shambles of our life behind a barrier of alcohol

there's a metaphor here but i'm not 100% sure what

You shoot her a Look of utter disbelief, flicking your eyes pointedly at the other dragon she brought explicitly for you to hook up with that she's now demeaning you right in front of. She ignores you. You glance at Jun-ho for some small measure of solidarity. He studiously avoids your gaze.

TFW when you get invited along to a Thing with people you only kinda know and then real family shit starts happening so you just do your best to faaaaade into the background.

I really, really like Jun-Ho's introduction, it's evocative and his character design is fun, and I'm kinda excited for Eldingar to get to know him better (plus they have something to talk about at least, Jun-ho's been dealing with Mama Eldingar for at least a few days and Eldingar's been doing it for about a century :V). Plus this is a good way to see if they hit it off or not and it's a good way to spend some time together. Plus we'll probably have to bring him back to our lair and then that'll segue pretty naturally into showing off our cool map because oh god what is smalltalk.

Worst that comes out of it is we maybe get a friend! Or the MC's last scraps of self-worth implode one or the other

Ok, Eldingar is starting to cross the line between "amusing fuckup" and "traumatized survivor of parental emotional abuse" for me. Anyone else?

/me makes a so-so motion with his hand

I think it's less deliberately abuse, Mother doesn't seem malicious or consciously cruel so much as domineering and dismissive while Eldingar is naturally kinda shy and sensitive. And reacts to the pressures of family expectations by withdrawing on himself and isolating himself and isn't exactly a social butterfly to begin with. I do think it's kinda neat to note, imo, how expressive and, like, unselfconscious Eldingar is when he isn't around his ostensible peers (like the Ifrit, his Mother, or the other dragon) and how he immediately 180's and clams up when the power dynamic tips. He's pretty introverted, especially for a dragon.

Plus too I'm sorta getting shades of a toned-down Mallory Archer from Mother so. :V

i think it's Jun-ho then bust actually ;v

Maybe I'm seeing a little too much of myself when my parents tell me to get a job in our dragon protagonist, but I'm surprised there's no "I'll get to it, I promise" response.

He seems pretty cool. Sure, why not.

I guess she brings up some valid points, what with our Dragon mucking about in economics and several decades of no children, but you know what I don't like her tone. We build ourselves up and help Eldingar grow a pair, and then we might( who knows how we will change) tell them off.

Solidarity in the face of domineering women is important, especially when it's your mother.
