She doesn't want to help him. She doesn't want to be complicit in what he does. But turning her back won't make his actions any less evil, and it'll anger him - and he might turn on Cirucci or plot against him. He's spiteful and capable of long term plots. She'll have to dirty her hands to protect Cirucci, and by not taking a reward she won't be complicit.
And this way, she might be able to mitigate his evil. Just a little bit. Turning her back and walking away won't make things better.

-[X] Nothing.
By feigning pure scientific interest in his work and an eagerness to help him, you will please him greatly and make him less likely to scrutinize your work, putting you in a better position to make the Sacrophagus less inhumane, and perhaps giving you the opportunity to pilfer Szayel's notes on other subjects for your own use.

Aaroniero is great, I like the creep. Szayel on the other hand pushes so many of my NOPE buttons.

It's one of Ruddborne's old Calaveras,
It looks almost worshipful.

It's been some time since Ruddborne, leader of the Exequias, has been killed by one Nemo of the Thunderwich Fraccion. The surviving Calavera appear to be "turning back on," despite the death of their leader.

Now, the Calaveras are going through all manner of changes and outcomes and 'bad endings.' Here, we have complied a small list of these fates from all the gossip and heresay in Hueco Mundo and Las Noches.

#1 Death by Nemo?

Rumor has it Nemo Elcobuzier assaulted the entirety of the Exequias for some past misgiving. Maybe, her food got stolen, and Ruddborne refused to investigate. Maybe, serving the Espada made her go crazy from stress. Maybe, she was being hunted for breaking the One Law.

Whatever the case, Lord Aizen, Lord of the God-Rock, Leader of the Army, ect. has pardoned Nemo. A head count revealed there has been something of a drop in Calaveras. One could attribute a drop to Nemo.

#2 Looping

Despite their activation, some Calaveras seem to be stuck preforming the last task. We have some walking into and crashing into the small wall repeatedly. Others move back and forth patrolling the same hallway from before Ruddborne's death.

Now, some have broken free from their looping, but there's at least one or two who have starved to death within their loop.
.....

# 13 Deacon of the Deep

There's at least one Calavera in the depths of the Las Noches.

Four Calavera were seen entering, and three were seen leaving. The Fourth left later on its own time for food?

It has since been seen frequently entering and leaving the area. Fellow Numeros and some Calaveras avoid it for the..... unpleasant gleam in it's well- everything.

Somethings not right with that one.

Author note: Just thinking about all the things Ruddborne's Calavera can get up to. I decided someone should make a short snippet covering them. Numbers 3 through 12 are available for use if anyone wants to try add something.

So, here's my perspective on this:

Working with Szayel is making a deal with the devil. I think that's straightforward enough to not need a lot of defending.

When you are offered a deal with the devil, there are two basic plans that are worthwhile.

Plan 1 is to realize that the devil does not have your best interests at heart, and therefore refuse to make deals with the devil.
Plan 2 is to realize that the devil does not have your best interests at heart, and therefore drive the hardest bargain you can and hope the reward is worth the pain headed your way.

Neither of these options is "offer the devil really generous terms, and hope it works out".

And that's kind of what I feel like the "Nothing" vote is doing. It's got all the moral problems of furthering Szayel's research, and all the practical problems of spending time in his labs where he can spy on Nemo and clone her or sneakily implant spy cameras, or Aizen only knows what other evil shenanigans, and none of the actual practical benefits of cooperation, like being able to eat delicious cake without passing out from pain again.

If you're going to make a moral stand, don't deal with the devil, and if you're going to deal with the devil, drive a hard bargain. Don't throw morality aside, and then console yourself with the fact that at least you work cheap.

-[X] Healing your crippling injuries.
With the Quinta as your mistress, there is no risk of him offending her by turning you into a freaky mutant, but letting Szayel play around with your insides might still have consequences, even - especially - if he believes he's helping you doing so. Then again, these consequences could be positive…

It seems pretty obvious to me that letting Szayel heal us means he'll add in some kind of failsafe paralysis or mind control or whatever as a matter of course?
At best he'll have a button that blends up our insides if needed. Or something along those lines.

I don't agree, actually? More likely he mine 'improve' us, not sabotage us.

I mean he's likely to put in a killswitch as an afterthought, along with actually healing. I mean he probably puts in killswitches in everyone he has under for surgery, as a matter of course, without really needing a justification in his mind.
There doesn't need to be any particular malice or deliberation regarding Nemo as opposed to anyone else, it's just part of the package.

If you let Szayel heal you, it is very likely that he might think that as long as he's wrist-deep in your lungs he might as well do some "improvements."

That doesn't mean picking this choice automatically means you get implanted with spy cameras and a kill-switch. There are ways to avoid the worst. For one, Szayel seems to genuinely feel like Cirucci and him are on the way to being fast friends, so that rules out "Nemo wakes up a horrible mutant freak."

Beyond that, Nemo has tools of her own. She's actually tough enough that she doesn't have to go under for surgery, as seen when Esmeralda operated on her, so she could just watch. She's creepy that way. The Memory Glove, post-operation, might let her get a glimpse of what exactly Szayel did to her. She has a high enough Medicine skill that she can double-check what Szayel is doing to her, and afterwards might pay a visit to Esmeralda for a check-up and perhaps some modifications to Szayel's modifications if they turn out to have been untoward.

That doesn't mean it's a safe choice by any means. It could cause Nemo some real issues. It could improve her in some way. It could improve her in a way that causes real issues. But it's not exposing yourself, totally defenseless, to someone who might do anything with your body.

I do not trust this guy enough to let him go rooting around in our insides. But he is still broadly on our side, so him getting better at his job is no necessarily a bad thing. A chance to try and alleviate the horror of the Sacrophagus even a bit would also be kind of nice.

Because nothing is better for improvement (than hands on experience)

[X] Refuse. Nothing is worth the moral hazard of working on this project, or the dangers of Szayel's laboratory. You will offend the Espada, who might not even understand why you're letting go of such an opportunity, but Style will let you do so smoothly enough that he won't hold a grudge.

Relationships are built on give and take. We might as well be up front with Szayel rather than shifty, and we want to heal ourselves. This is the perfect opportunity to.

Loving this quest. Szayel will be exceptionally dangerous with this knowledge. However I don't think we have the capacity to keep him from learning about it now, it's just a matter of time. Grabbing some of his other secrets is a good price for that, especially if we get any that have to do with information warfare.

That crippled status has been taunting me since the day we got it and since i doubt were going to be leveling HSR by 2 levels any time soon i say we go for it.

I thinks Szayel is intelligent enough to figure out that Nemo hates his battle suit.

Therefore, any attempt to 'feign interest,' in order to help is bound to fail. If only for the reason that Nemo will not be able to contain herself. I can image Nemo may hate herself for even thinking to agree.

A write-in specifying we want to help Yammy not whatever mad science occurs here might be better. However, that fails to hold up because we are the sole reason for Yammy's condition. We can't really refuse since Nemo is in ,or at least near, the heart of Szayel's lab. A lab specifically described as being a maze. A maze in which Nemo acknowledges she wouldn't be able to escape from, and would Szayel do anything negative to us? No, but he can make things difficult for us.

We also, can not ask him to stop research on Cirucci. That way lies the path of more Aizen scrutiny, but that's be honest, he most likely already knows.

I'm too curious for my own good.

If you refuse you just refuse, and leave. Szayel will be miffed but he is not going to randomly trap you in his laboratory (which admittedly he is fully capable of doing, as in canon he is shown rearranging the foor plan at will).
