Shadows of the Past

[X] Go back to the main chamber.
-[X] Leave

We already have gathered quite a few shinies and I am hesitant to walk into potential danger alone when we can't even run away.

Problem is we have no safety net if anything goes wrong. If we get a burn or any kind of wound, we will have to return wounded to the city, since our current bandages will barely be enough to stop a possible infection. So we would have 2 people heavily wounded trying to reach the city. Xochi currently has a 60% chance to heal a wound without a bandage and no chance for infection (if I'm getting the system right) , so she will be fine in 2 weeks if she has enough supplies (and she has). On the other hand, with the rest of our Wound Dressings, we will be in major trouble if we take any sort of major damage, and that is not considering that we have to go back to the city, and we have unknown events on the way.

@Azel , can we forage and make wound dressings ourselves?
Yes, but it will take a week to get everything you need.

The dressings don't only represent the bandage, but also poultrices and minor medications that keep the wounds clean and aid the healing.

Edit: Which reminds me to fix the frontpage later. I forgot half the penalties for improvised dressings.

-_-

We're buying a proper adventurer's kit when we get back.

We're getting that bow crafted, the armor fitted, we're getting 50 or so feet of good strong rope, we're getting rations, and lots and lots of medical supplies.

Also @Azel, what kind of backpack do we have? What upgrades are available back in the city?

See, we need to have so much done, and we need to get to a city to prepare ourselves. The location is reasonably safe from other scavengers, so we are not in a hurry to revisit it right now. Besides, we are already weightcapped, we cannot even take anthing remotely heavy.

As far as I understand, if we find something dangerous behind the middle door and want to get away quickly we would have to run through the main chamber which is filled with Fire Sprites. That is a very, very bad idea.

It would entice them, yes, but it's not impossible to run through them, just very hard since they are falmes moving through the air and get bigger with "anger", but if we pass the door, they won't come after. Still, this is a very unkown place, we could come back later... I just have the impression a new apex predator will have made it his home when we do .-.

Where do you get this from? Have I missed us seriously enflaming a Fire Sprite so it's bent on murdering us, just to stop at the door?

However, these spirits are not malicious in nature. If left alone, they will not attack or pursue someone out of their own accord.

If you don't stay close, they won't go after you, it's not in their nature. It's not exactly "won't cross the door", but more akin to "after you're away, they won't pursue".

I must have missed a lot of posts on spirit lore.

We got the detail dump on these. They're basically docile as spirits can get. AND they also mean that most things around here are sessile or they'd have burned it. Thats why it's safeish. Nothing inside needs to eat, and rarely moves.

Basically the only thing you need to know when dealing with them is don't panic.

Running through the entrance hall would be ill advised. You would definitely get some serious burns, even if you manage to get out.

Since the vote is tied and I'm feeling a bit under the weather, no new chapter tonight.

Vote remains open for at least 7 more hours. Maybe I can squeeze an update in at morning.

We have no more Wound Dressings after we finish healing Xochi, and if anything goes wrong, we will be unable to heal ourselves. It's even questionable if we have enough Wound Dressings for Xochi.

We have tested our luck enough for the time being.

Please let us not be reckless.
What are you even doing? Search is the work of minutes.

What exactly are you guys afraid of? The fire spirits formed a natural barricade here, and we auto pass the Spirit Talking check to not trigger them.

Are you expecting, what, pit traps in the middle of what looks like a learning or research compound?

We have the opportunity for prime loot here. Precursor books and tools. Books and tools related to alchemy and magic more likely than not.

It's like leaving the dungeon after killing the boss, but being too afraid the sharp decorative spikes on the treasury door might give you tetanus.

1) Leaving. 2) Surprises with DCs that we might fail 3) I wasn't expecting Stone Men either.

One dormant Stoner awakening could set the entire place ablaze.

Judging by one of the posts, major predator behind the door, having to flee, getting incinerated by the sprites while doing so.
