Shadows of the Past

She is our best bet so far, crazy enough to help us, skilled enough to survive it.
Also has obligations to her member guild. Besides, what is she going to do while we are studying and spying from the Wise Men?

We can ask her not to tell the Wise Men, knowing their stance on anything spirit-related.
We can, but how likely can she avoid the question against a higher-up Wise Man, whose very name implies high mental stats?

Why not?
We really do need people to help us, this game is clearly not designed to allow one character to take down everything he might have to fight, we've seen that several times already.

She is our best bet so far, crazy enough to help us, skilled enough to survive it.

Even if she is our best bet so far, we have only spent four days with her. Shouldn't we try to get to know her better before we trust her with some rather dangerous secret?

As far as I remember, we know very little about her stance on spirits and the Wise Men.

She's unlikely to be questioned, she's just standing guard.
Rather likely, arriving into town with parts of dead Fleshweaver would make our story a hot topic. Maybe the Wise Men would like to give her a commendation and/or write new anti-spirit tactics in a codex, which would require retelling the whole affair.

Ok, lets say it gets to that.
Then she only has to say that the red whatever-it-was hit nobody and the rest of the fight happened exactly as it did.
No great feats of lie-crafting needed.

There are no companions we can take with us to Nonotzale.

You can be friends with people and still keep secrets. It's called privacy. It's a thing.

I do not want to talk about sensitive topics like anything related to Matlal or being turned into part-spirit just to build trust with people. Even if she doesn't share views on the spirits that most of Tlamaca does. Even if she means well. She might decide to help us get rid of the affliction and consult a Wise Man (why not? do we also tell her that we killed one?). She might get drunk and tell her drinking companions 'a funny story about a spider chick'. She could do all sorts of things that would not necessarily be malicious, and could still backfire for us.

I suppose I would be able to see the point if we wanted to make her our travelling companion for a meaningful length of time, but we have our obligations to Matlal, and she has her own to her group, so it is very likely we will part ways and it is unknown if we even see each other again.

Edit:
[X] Go down to Xochi.
-[X] Tell her a carefully edited version of the truth.
--[X] "The ritual blew up in my face but.. sort of.. worked. I just need to kill some animals to heal whatever it did to me now, redirect the curse on other creatures."

We actually have no obligations to matlal, by his own words. We only do things for him if we want things from him in exchange. Besides me myself thinking were better off without him, I really don't understand why people are all going directly to tell her. Seriously, people, does no one thinks we taking a little bath from this blood would be good before seeing her? It doesn't even matters what or how much we tell her, any of the options would be compromised by the amount of blood on us.

If we choose to tell her everything, then we just seem even more dangerous and a little deranged by walking to her with all this blood. If we choose to tell her nothing, it get's simply impossible because she saw us passing out and now full of blood. If we want some middle term on what we tell it can have problems from both sides, be it because we seem deranged, unhinged, not the same or something we want to hide isn't as easily thanks to the blood.

So, why, oh why, is everyone thinking of simply going right now to see her instead of at least cleaning ourselves?

Mostly because her thought process could be 'Yaxkin went mad, shuffles in and out of camp, doesn't react, doesn't respond, I am getting out of here'.

I don't even know we weren't seen coming back from the hunt before.

Well, Xochi is calling out for us, so we would at least have to answer her.

Honestly, I don't think there is any believable story we can tell her that won't be somewhat disturbing, so I don't really care when exactly we will clean ourselves.

@Artemis1992, you have a point. I would still vote against telling the whole truth, though. We do not know Xochi's opinion on spirits and it is a potential disaster to our infiltration chances while their delegation is still in the city (can be a long time, seeing as they are overlooked by the Wise Men)

@Metrux, infiltrating the Wise Men has other benefits besides getting boons from Matlal, like having access to a ton of old (maybe even pre-Fall) knowledge. And we better talk to Xochi as soon as we can before she sees all the bloodstains and dead animals on the ground and thinks of an explanation herself.

Switching my vote:

Damn, that update was crazy. I loved it.

@Metrux, at the moment you are just voting to Go Away and nothing else.

Maybe you forgot to put an X in the '[] Return once you cleaned yourself up.' subvote?

We actually can't be seen, shes in an underground cavern and we're up in a clearing around the entrance...

Do you mean a person talking about killing wolves is the same if she is still covered in their gore?

I never sayd there aren't other benefits, just that we have no obligations whatsoever. For all that's been decided, we could leave and it wouldn't be a problem for Matlal (at least as far as has been sayd. I don't trust him.)

[X] Go away.
-[X] Return once you cleaned yourself up.

I think I forgot the second part, but it was my intention all along.

Welp, being a Mayaincatec Murderspider Girl doesn't sound that bad, but we really need to see what all the ??? are, we probably burned a piece of our soul and replaced it with spirit spider stuff.

Yes? But he quickly responded with decently helpful advice when we were in danger, might as well do something good for him.

After he almost killed us for trying to leave after seeing his talk... Hes invested in us, it doesn't seem he hepled for the good of his heart, but because he wants us to work for him, and dead or broken we wouldn't be able to.

It seems to be tied.

@Azel can we fix other afflictions with that?

Can you reveal the full extent of the malady we had before?
Forgot to respond to this earlier.

The attack of the Fleshweaver had dealt Fade damage, which is something all together different from regular injuries. You can heal only that with your trait, but it is a rather common type of damage when you start fighting more powerful spirits and true demons.

Well, I guess we need to come up with an alchemy brew that we can use to patch it up, just like we have the Clotting Salve for normal wounds.
