Honestly, I feel that we can try alchemy after the talk. I mean, how long would it take to send a single message and receive a single one as response? We won't loose a day on this, we can just try a super potion later.

The full message length is by the way 13+13d6 words, so it can be quite significantly longer then what you are currently sending while retaining a reasonable chance to be fully send.
 
There is a good majority for asking Matlal for advice, but it would make for a poor chapter to have just that. Therefore, here is what he responds.

Would our own blood help be of any help or that's covered by being the vessel? Probably not, might want to save some contaminated blood if we ever need to poison someone silly.

So the answer was to do Alchemy anyways.

Something to consider: We don't need to do this. It seems our greatest constraint when it comes to time is Xochi.

Technically speaking we can just leave. There's nothing forcing us to save Xochi besides ours-and Yaxkin-sense of morality and responsibility to save the one who saved us.

We also don't know if we will heal naturally.

I prefer experimenting here over first loosing Xochi, then risking the jungle in our state and then asking the Wise Men for help.

Actually there was a hidden dice with hidden results at the update, so it's probably something that our hidden magical atribute can heal... Too bad it's all very hidden so we can't know a thing u.u
