[X] Stay with Tala. She is your friend and is injured. Not only do you need to find out what this problem with her arm is and try and see if you can convince her to tell you what she's hiding, but she has nobody in the monastery. If you leave her now, she'll remember that as she lies by herself, her only company a disembodied golem that tried to kill her.

A tie... On one hand, we just had a friend say she has no one else and so wants us to stay with her. On the other, our master is asking to talk to us and we are currently under siege, could be important. Does that make up for neglecting Vashti though? Can we afford to be that petty? Should looking after a friend when everything's going to hell anyway, be our main concern?

I dunno...

[X] Go to Godei. Despite everything, he is still your master, and the monastery is in a state of emergency. You can speak to Tala later, but if you miss Godei now, not only will you miss being able to say everything you desperately want to say to him, but you might miss out on important information. You have to swallowyour pride and speak to him, for the sake of everyone. It might be an emergency.

As much as it hurts we are under siege.

Tala is barely a friend and the only reason this is nearly as impactful as it is lies directly on the shoulders of the voters, who are easily woo'd by anyone who is remotely alright at all.

Making sure things don't burn down is a priority. Tala's feelings are not. We might ice over the non-friendship that we have, but at least we can try to save the most people.

tl;dr: There hasn't even been enough investment into her character for a sunk cost fallacy to kick in, so there's no reason to ignore our duty out of spite, and especially not for Tala.

Hey!

I am doing it purely because Godei is a dick who left without notice and Vashti is being petty.

As long as you own up to it, I suppose.

My thing is that Vashti has seen her entire village torn down and destroyed. Why she would let pettiness get in the way of preventing the same thing from happening again is beyond me. She's a child with a lot of flaws, but she is consistent in that she doesn't want to watch that happen again.

Tala's vastly less important in comparison.

I mean, "if I don't go to Godei then I will bring disaster to the monastery" is certainly the maximal interpretation of not choosing the "Go to Godei" vote.

It's also not the only one.

The world is full of attentive, dedicated students who led it into the state it's currently in.

Staying with Tala is a terrible plan, everyone in the world would agree. Indeed, most people find it quite impossible to care about a Melik's castoff daughter.

So, in the spirit of Rongen: I'd rather do the impossible, as belligerently as possible, rather than what is responsible and awful. Like Bluff said, there are plenty of people in the world who want to keep others from suffering as they did. Either Vashti starts right now, in keeping Tala company, or she ends up like everyone else, promising to start tomorrow.

I'm not happy about it, but I think it's the right choice.
