Not voting for a song cause I have no ability to properly assign themes. I know good music when I hear it but not music appropriate to the situation.

That and I just read the story, adding music slows my reading down.

Ohkay... So I would like to apologize. I was going to close the votes now, but the last leg of work had me sprinting around like a madperson so I am frigging beat right now.

On the upside, tomorrow is my day off, so I'll be leaving the votes open until I've slept and close them once I wake up. If things move quickly enough, I should even be able to do two or three updates tomorrow to make up for this wait.

A peace sign and playful winks have been done before, though. I want our MC to do something a little more daring (but not in the NSFW sense) that Negaverse fans would make fanart based on it. If we want to be smug, then we should leverage our specialty in speed and knowledge of our rival's strength and force her to think of ways to overcome it.

And when she does, we easily slip past that and force her to go back to the drawing board as befitting of our spot as the character with the superior intellect.

That is so jarring that even the viewers would be left gobsmacked come the reveal. I like it; smug and dangerously competent as a rival magic warrior but an adorable cinnamon bun when not in duty.

With quick nose boops and/or headpats for a hi/bye gesture.

but how should the reveal work? Cinnamon bun and heroine get ambushed by the enemy general and we take a blow for her before drawing our weapon and doing a brutal beat down? attack on the school, she's on her last ropes after her power up failed and then we come to the rescue?
 
Today I learned that people will vote to be less attractive in a quest all about making the audience love you.

There's a difference between not looking girly and not being attractive. Just because a person isn't bishie doesn't mean they can only be ugly. We can go for the rugged good looks!

I was thinking something like this:
>mc and heroine are fighting a powerful enemy
>heroine screws up and gets beaten badly
>we move in and fight the enemy while the heroine regens the damage
>as we fight, we lose bits and pieces of our armor until only our mask remains
>heroine heals enough and saves us
>we look at her to say thanks, but then our mask falls off
>cue heroine going 'wtf senpai?!'

Or something like it.

Depends really... that could be the final battle or something honestly. Depends on how much they want to shove the Rival and Heroine into interacting as the Rival and Heroine in civilian life.

I mean... maybe our mentor's know each other? Or something I guess.

You know a bishie isn't necessarily an effeminate guy right? they are generally Just good looking men a classic bishie would be kenshin and a more current one is genos from one punch man.

Edit: to specify if your a attractive guy who's more on the pretty or handsome side of the spectrum your a bishie.

If limited to those two, the guy's definitely the Heroine's Mentor. Halo Girl is the Rival's. Mostly cause I want their master's personalities bleeding into them, and that's a little thing I'd really like our characters to realize and get past in order to become generally better Protectors.

My personal headcanon in this case is that both mentors are melee specialists, but only the Heroine followed in her mentor's footsteps.

Our MC got so fed up with his mentor being such an uptight bitch that he became a ranged specialist just to spite her and run circles around her during spars; ie, keeping out of melee range, running away when she tries to close the distance, recoil-dodging, etc.

I've been imagining us pulling kind of a "I can't watch you die too!" thing were we spin things as having watched other magical girls die in front of us and we're forcing her to either get good or quit so we don't have to watch her die. like maybe after the reveal when she demands to know why we have been doing things and we start listing off names of all the magical girls that we've been forced to watch die dispite our best efforts to help them.

Those are just the two I'm seeing right now. Who knows what they'll actually end up being.

Also, yeah, I was seeing it the same as Taka. Genjuro for her, Halo Lady for us.
