Turn, Turn and Turn [A]gain! (Turn A Gundam Quest)

Week 23 Result Part 2
[X] Try to contact your father.

"I…I want to contact my father." You confess. Not immediately practical, perhaps, but…

You know almost nothing about the man. Beyond the fact that he lived, and met and had you with your mother before the Calamity, and died during it as part of the same force that Corin and Arisa belonged to, you have never been able to find out anything about him. Not even pictures or a name.

Vestige hesitates, but nods.

Okay. Do you have his name, or that of someone he was connected to?

"Laura Cehack, my mother." You tell him, explaining your limited knowledge of the man who (you assume) loved your mother.

Vestige shrinks in on themselves, tiny slivers of shame worming their way through cracks in their defenses.

"What's wrong? Are you alright?"

They wave you off.

I am fine. It is just…you have not given me much to go on. I just do not want you to be disappointed if no one answers your call.

You can't help but swallow. "I know, but…"

Vestige waits until it becomes certain that you will not be continuing before they nod.

Alright, let us get started. Mold you Pressure like we practiced…

You follow Vestige's instructions, reaching beyond the world until a psychic 'lure' breaks through to the other side. You can see glimpses of it in passing as you search.

It is beautiful, but nobody answers your call.

Vestige radiates regret and sympathy when your consciousness fully returns to your body.

I am sorry, Loran. It just was not enough.

It takes a while before you feel up to calling on someone Vestige knows (or rather, someone who Kreis knew). Unlike your first attempt this one goes swimmingly, and you talk for a few minutes with a man called Jamil Neate. You do not speak for very long, but he promises to answer if you need something shot with a heavy weapon from far away, or find yourself in the possession of 'Bit Mobile Suits'.

Loran has learned Channeling! Great Progress on Loran and Sochie's NT Development.

[X] Alpha Strike. (Ranged Weapons get their full possible number of Attacks during the first Turn of combat, but non-integrated weapons must take the next Turn off to reload afterwards)

It takes all day, but you think you have gotten the hang of dumping a weapon's magazine or capacitator as fast as possible while maintaining accuracy of fire. With your earlier training focusing on getting the most out of your shots this skill will create formidable combination for sure, and the best part?

The White Doll's Destruction Manipulator, by virtue of taking energy directly from the White Doll's reactor, will not need to take time off afterwards. Whatever you are using with your left hand, on the other, well, hand, will be a different story.

Loran has gained the Alpha Strike Perk! (Ranged Weapons get their full possible number of Attacks during the first Turn of combat, but non-integrated weapons must take the next Turn off to reload afterwards)

*

You arrive at Headquarters the day after the next to a warm welcome. Not just from militiamen happy to see the White Doll, but also from officers who have received the news of your hand in the Ohita mountains' recapture by Amerian forces.

Getting Sochie a new Qubeley is as simple as asking for one from the reserves. The Inglessan Militia kept a number of their second type of Mobile Suit in reserve to replace losses in the field, so after unloading the remains of Sochie's old Suit it is just a matter of loading the new one onto the Gallop.

Sochie spends ten minutes or so in the unit's pilot seat, letting her Pressure flow through it to make it feel more 'lived in'. Five months ago, you would have called that idea stupid, but it is not like you knew that actual psychic powers were a thing back then.

Alongside a new Qubeley you also pick up some information. Apparently Queen Dianna has been extending feelers to hold some new talks, the first serious diplomatic effort(that you are aware of) since the reception all those weeks ago. You also hear that Lord Guin's force has stalled out against the Dianna Counter defenses near the Florian lines. The deployment of at least two Almaiyas has made him leery to risk a pitched engagement.

Once you have resupplied you will-

[] Stay at Headquarters for a while.

[] Go southeast and link up with Lord Guin.

[] Head back to the western front and check on the Tejans.

[] Make an independent incursion into Dianna Counter territory.

[X] Stay at Headquarters for a while.

We just came back from a mission where we fought some large battles. We should take the time to have a good rest before throwing ourselves back into the fray.

[X] Stay at Headquarters for a while.

Rest for a bit and Gadget might risk coming here with less back up than what she usually bring.

Nothing happening is good too.

Week 23 Result Part 3
[X] Stay at Headquarters for a while.

You decide to give yourself and your team the rest of the week off. This gives you a lot of free time, which you spend helping out around the base. Most of the work you do consists of taking over patrol duties, but other times you help the militiamen prepare to move Headquarters closer to the front. The base will still be here to receive supplies form Inglessa, but Lord Guin intends to turn the Borjarnaught into his mobile command headquarters, with a new base further to the southwest will handle the remaining duties.

It is during one such patrol, a far-ranging one undertaken alone to make the most of the White Doll's speed, that you come across a lone Almaiya flying low above the wilderness. Escorting it is an abnormal amount of silver SUMOs, along with some WaDoms following it on the ground. There is a dense aura of weariness around them, as well as a lot of fear and bitterness directed at further within Dianna Counter territory. The White Doll's sensors highlight the obvious scars of battle that many of the units bear, most of them a few days old at best.

Your powers let you sense one person with powers, about as strong as the Corado siblings but a lot more stable. As well as an unpowered presence you have not felt for months.

Vestige, having been woken by the complicated mixture of emotions surging in your gut, stirs.

Loran? What is going on?

"Trouble." You answer. You just know that there is going to be a lot of headache over this…

*

"I hope to share this story with Lord Guin, so you will have to forgive me if I give you the short version." Says Kihel-as-Dianna over the comm-link you opened, Lieutenant Harry brooding behind her as he stands at attention.

You nod at her. "Of course." There was a measure of panic among the convoy when the White Doll appeared, but it was blunted by the lack of beam fire and then mostly evaporated when you opened the comm-link.

Kihel-as-Dianna sighs. "To make a long story short, some of my higher officers were unsatisfied with how this war was going for us. They blamed my policies and wished for me to cede my command of the Dianna Counter to them, and launched a coup when I refused. I escaped with Miss Kihel and the Royal Guard in a shuttle, but picked up loyalists from the bases we passed on the way here." She gestures towards the interior of the Almaiya's bridge. "This ship included. I am here now to speak with Lord Guin."

"And where is 'Miss Kihel' now?" You cannot sense the real Queen Dianna anywhere. Surely she isn't…she can't…

The disguised secretary hesitates. "She…she was captured by a member of the Ghingham Fleet yesterday. I believe that they thought that she was me."

Fuck.

*

The day passes, with urgent reports of Dianna Counter forces fighting each other coming in from every front as you lead Kihel-as-Dianna's convoy to the place Lord Guin set as their meeting ground. Your team meets you on the way, the Gallop joining up with you an hour after nightfall. Sochie wants, for obvious reasons, to see her sister, but the circumstances bar her from it. You try to cheer her up after dinner, but she remains in a bad mood for the rest of the evening.

Lord Guin and the forces he dared to take with him from the front, lead by the Borjarnaught, are waiting for you and the convoy near a small town among the rolling hills of eastern Albam.

Much of the last day of the week is spent making an acceptable pair of camps before Lord Guin and Kihel-as-Dianna meet. Two acceptable options, each with various variations, arise from the meeting: The first is to contain the coup forces while Kihel-as-Dianna takes a force back to the Moon, pursuing the people who took the real Queen Dianna and ending the Moonrace side of the war at the source, while the other consists of rallying Dianna Counter loyalists and decisively putting down the rebellion before going to the Moon, even though this will likely give the Ghingam Fleet enough time to take the real Queen Dianna to space (and almost certainly allow them to accomplish whatever goal they have).

Colonel Gern is the first to ask how they plan to get back to the Moon, to which both Kihel-as-Dianna and Lord Guin reveal that they have located the Mass Driver. It is a quick hop across the Gulf of Adeska. The only problem is to get the 'uncivilized' kingdom to allow them access.

A more private meeting follows the talks, featuring just Kihel-as-Dianna, Lord Guin, Lady Lily, Lieutenant Harry Ord, Colonel Gern, Lieutenant Colonel Mallygan, Sochie, and yourself. You find yourself unpopular among the colonels when the truth of the switch comes out.

"I made the best of a bad situation." You insist in the face of the angry and baffled officers. "There were no good options."

"You-"

You do not need to be a (borderline) mind reader to know where Colonel Gern's words are going to go. "Had no acceptable options either. Either way, what is done is done. We can only fix things in the now."

Neither of them like it, but the sit back down to discuss which path to take. Kihel-as-Dianna confesses that her convoy was a lot larger when the escape began, but that attacks from rebel forces and the Ghingham Fleet whittled down most of the loyalists she had with her. Lord Guin promises to order the Militias to allow Dianna Counter loyalists asylum, but warns that they will expect a peace treaty after the rebellion has been put down.

Whatever happens next, the Return, or at least the one that was initiated above Nocis almost half a year ago, has failed.

Eventually, you are asked for your opinion.

[] Go to the Moon ASAP.

[] End the war on Earth first.

My first thought was to immediately chase after the real Dianna and her captors in the Ghingham fleet. But than I thought about all of the Loyalist we would be leaving behind and came to the decision that we couldn't let leave them to die. And then there is the other warships that are still around. Maybe there is one or two ships that are Loyal to Dianna and not to Ghingham and will join us. We need to try and find them and get them to join us.

Reinforcements AND a safe staging ground.

@Iceblocks
If we fully repair the LUNA transfer system can we just stick a box of Quebely funnels in the Armory pack and launch them from there using the LUNA system to recharge them?

Because I want my funnels, damnit, and needing a Nano-Block PER FUNNEL with Bloody Siege is impractical especially given that Bloody Siege shuts off NT-D, presumably even if we only do a partial Bloody Siege.

Maybe if we're really lucky we can find some Unicorn Gundam Shield Funnels somewhere.

Point of order, the loyalists are numerous enough that it is unlikely that the coup forces will wipe them out immediately. At the moment they are either fighting the coup forces for control of bases and fortresses or on the run, but once Lord Guin and Dianna-as-Kihel's proclamation gets broadcast over the radio they will try to make it to Militia lines.

And the Ghingham Fleet is not in control of the coup, they just promised not to interfere. They were responsible for downing the other ships in Kihel-as-Dianna's convoy, though. Almaiya's are not built with Dainsleifs in mind.

It would take some work to put some handles on the box that the Armory Pack can hold on to, but other than that it is possible.

And to clear something up, the Nano-Blocks are for the Bloody Siege guns, the actual Bloody Siege Mode works just fine as it just relies on the Flight Mode. I've just been keeping it out of the Battleplan options because without the guns it doesn't really offer anything beyond making the Turn X harder to hit.

[X] Go to the Moon ASAP.

Ghingam Fleet will be gone which mean almost all their Ace pilots will be gone with them so earth force can deal with the rest or can hold out long enough for Loran return.

And also it will be even worst if Turn-A show up with Ghingam Fleet. Because maybe they want Dianna to unlock something for them. Maybe technology maybe MS but worst would be Turn-A.

...This is once again happen to be a tie.

Finish the war on earth to fortified the base or rush for the moon to prevent what might happen.
Anyone want to change their vote?

Not likely. Giving them the time to use Dianna to unlock all their superweapons is absolutely going to be worse than the earth situation when all their elites are gone.

If the locals can't beat the rest they have a Problem.

Right. We are at an impasse with each option having three votes each. This is an important vote, so it will be open a bit longer to give time for someone else to vote, or for those of you who have voted to change it or argue for your choice. Whatever the case, see you in 24 hours.

Lets have a tally.

Edit: Changing my vote after giving it some more thought about it.

Week 24
Week 24 (Week 1 of the Hunt for Dianna)

[X] Go to the Moon ASAP.

"The plan is as such:" Lord Guin explains after the decision has been made. "We will travel together south along the Florian Peninsula and cross the sea, making a quick stop in Cupa to resupply before we enter the Adeskan heartland. We do not have telegraph or radio contact with the Adeskans, so the negotiations for the use of their 'Mass Driver' will have to happen when we get there."

Other than Lord Guin, the briefing consists of yourself, Lady Lily, Kihel-as-Dianna, Lieutenant Harry, some Dianna Counter officers, and Colonels Gern and Mallygan, the latter which raises his hand. "A question: These 'Ghingham Fleet' scoundrels need to go to the Moon as well, so will they not be there to make use of the 'Mass Driver' as we are?"

Lieutenant Harry glances towards Kihel-as-Dianna, who nods in return. "I can answer that." He says. "The Ghingham Fleet makes use of Gendarme-Class Battlecruisers and modified Manogane-Class transport ships, both of which mount specialized boosters that allow them to leave the Earth's atmosphere without the use of a mass driver."

"So there is a chance that they are already en route to the Moon." Comments Lady Lily.

The Lieutenant simply shrugs. "There is, but we have not seen a single Gendarme-Class since we left for Earth, and Ghingham Fleet transports did not make a habit of sticking around. Those that took Her Majesty will need to rendezvous with one such ship before they can leave Earth. They could have done so already, or it might be that they need to wait for one such ship to some to them."

"What about the rebels?" Asks Colonel Gern. "Aren't they working with the Ghingham Fleet? Why are we going to space when the queen could have been taken to the Soleil?"

Lord Guin smirks. "I doubt the rebels are working with the Ghingham Fleet, Colonel. They would want to put her on display in order to counter the speech that 'Queen Dianna'-" He points at Kihel-as-Dianna. "made to her loyalists. It is likely that they too are hunting the Ghingham Fleet force, if they are aware that they have her, of course."

You offer commentary here and there, but you are mostly just here to be briefed. Later that day the Borjarnaught and the lone Almaiya set out for the south, accompanied by their escorts. They will have to shed most of them when they reach the coast, just like you will have to leave the Gallop behind.

Snow falls as the combined force speeds south, declaring the first days of winter.

Roll 1d100 = 23

You run into some Dianna Loyalists on the way before you cross into Floria proper, but none of them have a ship so they are forced to stay behind. This also means that Lord Guin and Dianna-as-Kihel will need to decide on who gets to bring their Mobile Suit to the Moon. The White Doll is a shoe-in, as is the Lieutenant's Gold SUMO, but the rest is in question. From what you heard Lady Lily wants Captain Gavane to stay behind on Earth to help the Militia in the fight against the Rebels, so that is one spot freed up…

All Systems gain +1 Condition!

There is a measure of haste to the two ships and their followers, but you still find the time to set this week's Priority Repair.

The question of who gets to bring their Mobile Suit is answered when you reach the coast a few days into the trip. Kihel-as-Dianna is bringing the Lieutenant and three other Royal Guardsmen, while Lord Guin is bringing your White Doll, Sochie's Qubeley, Miashei's Kapool, Corin and Arisa's Leos, and a pair of Borjarnon piloted by Captain Gavane's teammates. The Borjarnaught's hangar is surprisingly roomy for a ship its size, but it remains a tight fit. Whomever built it seems to have gotten more space by not featuring launch catapults.

That still leaves the question of how to spend your time outside of meetings and patrols during the journey to Adeska.

Choose 3

[] Talk with Arisa and Corin.

[] Spend time with Vestige.

[] Find Miashei and hang out.

[] Spend time with Sochie.

[] Ask Sochie if she wants to experiment with Pressure while you learn how to perform Psyco-Hijack.

[] Look for Sid and Joseph.

[] Seek audience with-
