"Hello, I am a spirit-"
"GIMME UR NUTS"
pupil tologda, ladies and gentlemen
That was an awesome chapter to read. So awesome that I'll vote to continue this scene against my best judgement.
As your eyes clear up and you push yourself up to see the figure of a nun, looking out of place in these wide open woods.
As she speaks, her soothing words are heavenly, her laugh the sound of wind chimes. "Oh come now, you two look like I'm about to eat you up. Calm down a bit, girls. I have always endeavoured to help young women in need, especially when soldiers are involved. Call it a force of habit." A wry grin forms on her face.
Angelssssss *shakes fist*
[X] Talk to the spirit.
Time to become utterly terrifying for having a spirit as a pokemon with no talent in the Pokemon taming skill.
Weeeeeee
Now they're in the sunken place."Fall now, into the spirit abyss." It is a simple command that escapes you, said so quietly that only the wind listens. But that is all the audience you need, for in that second a tremendous cyclone engulfs you and the four soldiers, cutting short of trapping Tala, and then you are falling.
I feel like there's been some stuff about how spirits are dangerous and you should stay away from them until you're powerful. Was a that a thing or did my brain just make that up?
Outside, the spirits of the world revel in the despondence of man. The villagers below speak of masks that eat faces and liches that break from tombs and hunt for new hosts. They speak of men who are not men at all, but hidden demons, swallowing up whole villages in their gluttony. They speak of travelers impaled by malevolent trees. The souls of the living become the food of the dead.
The supernatural will play an enormously large role in Vashti's life. This is not a low fantasy quest, but it also doesn't bother to follow most of the typical conventions of western fantasy because I am drawing aesthetically and thematically on medieval and especially Jewish depictions of magic and magical ability. These spirits can help or hinder Vashti's path, and they are extremely threatening. Spirits are often the disturbed souls of those who could not pass on, or malevolent entities created by other, darker means, and so must be sent to pass on to the next world or else destroyed, as unhindered they will often seek out and eat humans to gain in their own ability.
Most spirits are weak in the chomer and send their victims to their personal Zurah Realm to feed on them. The Mystical Schools have been crafted to deal with this, and cover a number of ways to manipulate the Zurah and deal with spirits as well as humans skilled in the spiritual schools.
A low understanding of Zurahna will endanger you when you are sent into a spirit or Spiritual practitioner's Zurah realm and Zurahna is extremely taxing on the will at lower levels of knowledge.
A low level of Tologda is dangerous because it leaves you open to spiritual ambush and closes peaceful options to deal with spiritual beings.
A low understanding of Rongen will cause spirits, spiritually trained enemies, and illusions to appear more dangerous and frightening than they are and weaken your will to fight, leaving you liable to collapse or exhaust your power much more easily.
You can recognize when a soul is turning into a spirit and sense a spirit if it is outright revealing its presence. Otherwise, you can usually tell when you are being eaten by a spirit.
That said our skill at Rongen makes talking to the spirit a little less deadly than usual.
