Because the outcome of said test doesn't CHANGE anything. It's like saying that because you don't know if there'll be squirrels at the bird feeder tomorrow, that the squirrels are important to life the universe and everything. We still have those range limitations with either result, as light would be a glorified gimmick and not actually our real magic.
