    In point of fact, I consider Chelsea Manning a damn hero, and I'll back her all the way to the presidency. This country _needs_ people like her in power. People don't support her simply because she was disproportionately punished.

    I'm sure that some people do think she's a hero. I'm not one of them. I did support her release, as did others who disagreed with her actions. I don't think she'd be qualified to be a senator, even if I didn't think she'd shown poor judgment.

    There may be apparent contradictions in that reality that our experience in our world doesn't give us insight sufficient to resolve. I like the humility in that approach. Taking seriously the idea that God exists in an eternity outside of time, yet still acts in time must have been deeply weird for people before the idea of time as dimension was understood, for example.

    Re: Nazi creeps; I agree that there is no point point in talking about the right to attempt to destroy the idea of rights. But even if every alt-righter was wholly unredeemable, it does us harm to treat others without concern for moral considerations, even if they don't warrant it. I don't think that includes letting them plot against civilization though.

    I was glad to see you on here, too. It is a shame about how AH.com has been going, but I'm really glad to have found SV. I'm not actually banned over there yet, but it was becoming pretty clear that the options were pretend Ian was never wrong or hit the road. I still like the guy, though.
