    In case you didn't know, an Islam player just won EVO 2019--the world fighting game tournament--for Tekken 7. He is currently undefeated in the world right now and following his victory he offered prayer to Allah in front of a crowd of thousands and an online audience of several hundred thousands to thunderous applause and acceptance. It's the single most beautiful thing I have ever seen in the world.

    Yep. And apparently he is a product of his scene. Pakistan's Tekken 7 scene is supposedly small but REALLY good. I wonder if this will lead to the government recognizing Tekken as a national sport. It has happened before with another country and Street Fighter V just last year I believe.

    Fighting games are a huge thing in the Middle East and South Asia! Saudi Arabia has a lot of fighting game fans and players.

    Pakistan is also a huge part of this! Arslan Ash is one of MANY incredible Pakistani players.

    I'm not sure if you're a fan of the Conan mythos which we were discussing in the RPG politics thread but it might be worth a look-see if you like low-fantasy settings. Just bear in mind that certain elements of the setting ESPECIALLY as regards things like race have really not aged well (much like Lovecraft's own views on race).

    Still, the setting does have its moments.

    Tariq Ramadan's In the Footsteps of the Prophet gives a very nice succinct overview of the faith and how it developed.

    Caliphate: The History of an Idea by Hugh Kennedy, is a proper book on the idea of the Ummah as well as the political landscape of Muslims in general.

    I can list more, but I think these two would be sufficient in explaining the basic stuff. Thanks for the question, bud!
