Prologue:
The year is who fucken knows. You have awoken in an abyss where you have been touched by the mind of a god. It has plucked you and others, you get a vague sense that it isn't many others, or an even vaguer sense it very well might be many others. You cannot tell and the enviroment is beginning to do a severe number on your frail mind. Then a finger is snapped, you don't know if it is a metaphorical finger or...
The world warps, it's not a metaphorical finger. It is an actual finger. You can't quite make sense of the owner of the finger, whatever it did to isolate and control this environment to save your sanity is not quite good enough to cover its own quintessential godliness. No, not even godliness, you can sense that it is able to reach and touch many realities, maybe even all... You simply lack any frame of reference to understand what you're seeing.
You hear a sound. A sound like every language in every universe and every reality being spoken at once, but despite what your brain says must be a cacophony it only picks out one it understands. "Welcome recruit to the InterDimensional Gallant Action Force. You have been recruited/conscripted/d̷͕͍̗͛͗͠ŕ̴̤̤͓͝ȧ̴̢͈f̵̛̝̺̌̔ṭ̴̒̂e̷̮̫̔͜ḍ̷̳̅ congratulations on your selection."
You wonder why you're here. What you were recruited for. Before you could voice any of these things, or the variations as to 'what the fuck' or trying to pinch yourself away, it answers. "To make the multiverse a better place one stop at a time. Oh no, of course you have no choice in the matter. Those who fate calls on have no choice, and she has to get my permission for basically everything."
"So. Ready to get to work?"
------------------------------------------------------------
Welcome to the IDGAF. This is not an SI, your character is plucked from the multiverse to form part of the unit that will be dispatched to various universes to try and make events better. The ROB responsible for this is not an entire monster yet, it is omnipotent and omniscient enough to recognise that it is best to start the IDGAF on something small. But, for all of that.
Where are you from?
You may choose your character from a number of 'tiers' you can make requests, but their approval is dependent on me being familiar with them, so please take the following 'tier' guide as just that. A guide, not the limit you can choose from. Ultimately, there are 5 Base Tiers. (ALL Base Tiers assume baseline regular weaponry. Not heavy weapons at the like.)
Tier 5: Effectively modern human. With modern standard infantry gear only. (An M4 or AK series, maybe a P90 or the like.)
.... EXAMPLES: Season 1 SG-1. STALKER humanity. UNSC Marines.
Tier 4: Marginally better. UNSC ODST troopers, USCM from Aliens, GI JOE. Goa'uld Jaffa (This example is for Jaffa on a similar level to Teal'c.) Starship Troopers Movie Infantryman.
Tier 3: Better, whether by training or equipment. 40k Imperial Guard Troopers, Low grade Cyberpunk Edgerunner, Early XCOM Rookie, Dune Artreides Trooper
Tier 2: Elite, 40k Stormtroopers, Basic Skitarii, Sardaukar, Mass Effect N7 Marine
Tier 1: Augmented Elite, Halo Spartans, Skitarii Sicarian Infiltrators, Mass Effect Spectres, Astartes fresh raised Scout.
MODIFIERS;
All your choices are considered to have basic level equipment, so a UNSC Marine would have an assault rifle or a shotgun with sidearm while a Space Marine Scout would have a Bolt Pistol and combat knife.
Everyone *except* for Tier 1 may choose to upgrade their gear from basic to the closest of the following archetypes HOWEVER, if you do, your Tier goes up by 1. (The replacements are context sensitive based on universe of origin.)
Heavy Weapons Trooper; Basic weapons replaced with a related heavy weapon. Such as a rocket launcher, grenade launcher.
Assault Weapons Trooper; Basic weapons replaced with a related special weapon. Such as a flamethrower, meltagun etc.
Squad Support Trooper; Basic weapons replaced with related support weapons. Such as a USCM Smart Gun or an M16 being replaced with an M249 etc.
NOTE! WARNING! ALERT!
Your final Tier decides how much 'plot armour' your character will possess! A Tier 1 character has ZERO plot armour. Their fate lay as the cards lay. A Tier 5 character has a lot of plot armour, especially if there are many higher tier characters.
EG: If the team is 6 people, and 5 are Tier 1 and one is Tier 5, the Tier 5 guy is basically not seen as a threat and will not be targeted generally.
------------------------------------------------------------
Rules:
1: Basic forum rules are in effect.
2: If the example isn't above, just ask what tier your character would be in and i'll be happy to answer. Note if I lack any real familiarity your choice may be denied (you can try again with a different thing though. However, assume if its in an anime I will deny it as I don't really watch anime so they'd be likely to be denied.)
3: Don't write outcomes for actions against enemies or locations.
4: You might have meta knowledge, your characters will not. If you display something that is sort of meta-ish knowledge be prepared to provide a reasonable excuse why they might know or suspect something. Now, that being said just because the characters in the universe you're in were fucking idiots does not mean you have to be too. (Example. In Aliens when the Alien Queen jumps onto the landing gear of the Cheyenne Dropship, I would not consider acting as if something might have snuck on board as meta knowledge.
5: While your characters do (unless tier 1) have some plot armour, plot armour will not protect against what could be expected to be blatantly idiotic decisions. If you charge your character across an open field into half a dozen machinegun nests your character is gonna get swiss cheesed into the next life.
6: You're relatively speaking some sort of grunt. Psionic/Psyker/Magical powers are not on the cards. There may be some limited exceptions. (Low grade biotics for Mass Effect being fine.) In addition, if common sense says what you want is more powerful than the Tier 1 examples it will be denied.
7: Factor in you could be going to many varied universes if you live long enough, and try to design your characters will the idea of co-operation, or at least ability to suppress something like Xenophobia.
8: While most examples are, your character does not have to be human if you have another idea. (Such as a Narn soldier from Babylon 5 for example.)
