Sometime during one of Dante's breaks

Ugh, man being dead is tough.

Don't sleep, don't eat... food, don't have a place to call home.

Don't have a place to call home?

Oh my God, we don't have a house!

We'ev been drifting all over town doing whatever, and we don't have a place to stay!?

We could have done so much more if we focused on an area WE control.

Oh. Oh you've got to be kidding me.

No wonder my barricade wasn't working I was thinking too big.

I need a place in hawk ridge, instead of hawk ridge.

That's why it kept failing.

Guess you never stop learning, even when you're dead.

Well, screw this I'm going home shopping!

(Would house hunting count as an action? If so I'll change my vote. I'll be looking for abandoned mansions or apartment complexes)

Wel, their are the abanonded condos near the chicken nugget factory, that be prime real estate because nobody is their and it is near our ectoplasm farm.
However, you know, their is a gaint chicken monster their.
So if you go their, I wil grab one of the guns (if their made succesfully) and serve as ghostguard.

Good to know.

Yo, mister Percy!

There's a question I gotta ask ya.

I was floating around and, uh there's a giant chicken monster kicking around near the farm?

Why is that?

RES watched the remnants of the ghostly workshop and languished in his failure. Damn it, this is annoying. making something wasn't supposed to be this hard!

While the others went on to do other stuff, RES rubbed his hands and went back to work on the Haunt. He'll have it up one way or another! Mark his words!

[X] Consume Ectoplasm
-[X] Concentrated (does not count as action, requires source)
--[X] Chicken Nugget Factory

[X] Design a Haunt
-[X] Create a kitchen Haunt that RES can use to make the Ectoplasm that everybody eats to look and taste like actual food instead of just free-floating energy.
-[X] Spend 8 Ectoplasm

Good to know.

Well, my smoke dyed friend, I have to rightly say that I don't have the foggiest. HOWEVER! My instincts tell me that this fowl beast (hehehe) is build by something. A necromancer perhaps?
I heard you muttering about housing, which I agree is a necessity. If you work your hands on building near the abandoned housing where the nugget abomonation makes its dark nesting, I Ser Percival Darkridge, shall protect thy. (mutterd: Also don't call me Percy)

OOC:
Also, consuming ecto from the clinic is a free action I believe. If your going to build near the condos warn me, I will ghost guard

NOTE: The condos near the Nugget Factory are actually still in use, though the property values just shot way down, given the murder. Besides, unless you choose to make yourselves known, it's not like anyone would notice you moving in with them anyway.

EDIT: Also, protecting another action is indeed basically ghostguarding them. That said, if your goal is simply to get rid of the chickenstein, there's literally an action labeled 'go monster hunting', which will be far more effective at actually killing the thing, and even includes some tracking.

Also, increasing Tangibility is a free action, but only because it usually happens through several small sessions over the course of the week.

Let's see, you're wandering around hoovering up loose Ecto, when you could be cooped up at a nice, safe, easily defensible concentrated source, which would do the job of preventing you from 'bleeding' to death just as well as Ambient.

That said, you guys really seem to have forgotten that you can just straight-up eat concentrated Ectoplasm without having it packaged first. In fact, not eating packaged Ectoplasm supplies unless you have to is highly recommended, as the packaged stuff will keep for years while free-floating Ectoplasm decays into nothingness at a pretty fast rate.
Thanks for the input. I'm not in the best of minds considering I'm sick at the moment. Advice is appreciated.

Altering vote:
[X] consume ectoplasm
-[x] concentrated

Thanks for the advice, but I think I first want to make sword to defend myself. I mean I could use a gun but a sword is preferable.

Okay. I've been so focused on research, which I didn't think I would be doing. I hadn't even thought about my manifestations. Thinking I'll try to get flames 1 and audio 2 next turns

Actualy I am not so much rushing true manifestation as one of my goals is to learn all manifestations period.
Makes sense. You do realize that'll basically turn Redmont into one of the most terrifyingly powerful beings in Hawk Ridge, right? Especially once he reaches Spectral Flames 3, also known as Spectral Danmaku.

I have to say you simple couldn't have nailed the point better, Spectral Flames 3 was already my short term goal after all.
Also I was looking at the char sheets and Redmont image seens to have dissapeared.

Action 1: Build More Guns
Successes: 10
Success

Now that the issues with them exploding have been worked out, Koko immediately sets about churning our Spectral Handguns for everyone's use. She is quickly joined by Ragna, who assists in the project. Within a few days, they've completed a batch of eight guns, ready for use. That said, you'll need to be careful with them, seeing as they can apparently harm the living.

Results: 8 Spectral Handguns produced! | DC for designing other varieties of Spectral Firearm reduced!

Action 2: Tangibility Increases
Autosuccess

Meanwhile, over the course of the week, a number of ghosts have taken to reinforcing themselves with Ectoplasm, both enabling them to hold more of it and reducing the amount they need to sustain themselves. By far, the one who is farthest along in this endeavor is Redmont, who is now capable of holding up to three times the Ectoplasm that he could when he started.

Tangibility Alterations
@Zaratustra (Tangibility 29 reached)
@ConfusedPotato (Tangibility 23 reached)
@dunk1010 (Tangibility 18 reached)
@Lizard Knight (Tangibility 17 reached)
@SoixanteZio (Tangibility 16 reached)

Action 3: Designing a Kitchen Haunt
Successes: 12
Success

Let's face it; while eating unprocessed Ectoplasm does its job of keeping you going, after a while it gets really, really boring to eat nothing but the stuff. Thus, you set about finding ways to add a bit more flavor to the stuff. Here, your past experience as a chef aids you as you first set about re-creating some basic cooking equipment, allowing you to do various things to a chunk of Ectoplasm with great precision. Once you get your tools set up in one of the Clinic's lesser-used rooms, you begin setting about the process of coming up with some good recipes.

This is a bit tricky, seeing as Ectoplasm doesn't really behave like conventional ingredients, and ghosts don't really have a sense of taste as the living would understand it. That said, you don't let that stop you, as you quickly develop a pretty basic menu with a nice variety of... flavor-equivalents. As an added bonus, the way you process the meals you make means that they're actually a bit easier to digest than normal Ectoplasm, which is a nice bonus.

-Haunt Constructed at Clinic! (Cafeteria)

XP
@SlugSLinger +1 Research XP (Research 3 |1/4)

Action 4: Learn how to build with Packaged Ectoplasm
Successes: 12
Success

Yet another science project is being undertaken by Jonathan and Darius, as they try to figure out how to build structures out of Packaged Ectoplasm, sparing those trying to build stuff from having to use large amounts of their own internal reserves. The issue here is that Ectoplasm in its raw state is not very responsive, simply behaving sort of like a fluid without many interesting properties. On the other hand, Ectoplasm that a ghost has 'digested' is extremely responsive to the will of that particular ghost, taking on a variety of properties as needed.

Thus, the approach you decide to go with is to see if there's a way you can refine Ectoplasm so it behaves more like it does after being digested. You go through a few prototypes figuring out how this sort of thing works, but by the end of the week you have what you consider to be a basic refinery, able to turn Ectoplasm into a form you can work with. By your estimates, your machine should be able to refine about 30 Ectoplasm each week so it can be used for building.

Results
-Haunt Designed (Ectoplasm Refinery)
-Haunt Constructed at Nugget Factory (Ectoplasm Refinery)

Action 5: Get Manifestation Points
Successes: 14
Ecto Spent: 10
Points Gained: 17

Yet more experimentation takes place between Redmont and Harvey, as the two of them set about learning how to influence the physical world. Both of them get a lot of practice with moving small objects around, and Redmont spends a fair amount of time possessing his cat to get a feel for the technique.

Throughout all this practice, the two of them are carefully observing how each other's Manifestations work, providing them with enough information that they're pretty sure they could come up with some new techniques.

As an added bonus, Harvey thinks he might have some basic theories for what Ectoplasm actually is, based on his observations of its behavior when used for Manifestations. In its base state, Ectoplasm behaves somewhat similarly to dark matter in that it dooesn't much interact with baryonic matter. The exception to this is that electromagnetic phenomena can slightly excite Ectoplasm without being affected in turn, which explains why you can stll see.

That said, it's possible to push Ectoplasm into a higher-energy state, in which it interacts much more strongly with Baryonic matter. This generally requres the energy content of a noticeably larger quantity of Ectoplasm to be expended, which causes the expended Ectoplasm to cease existing, thus proving that Ectoplasm doesn't obey the normal physical laws related to conservation of energy.

Manifestation Points
@ConfusedPotato now has 19 Manifestation Points
@Zaratustra now has 17 Manifestation Points

Action 6: Building an Ectoplasmic Computer
Successes: 6
Minor Failure

Turns out, computers are complicated and hard to build, especially when you don't know much about the physical laws your materials follow. The two of you tinker around with some Ectoplasm for a while, but you only manage to come up with a few basic circuit components. Towards the end of the week you manage to make something vaguely resembling a transistor, but it's pretty bulky and would need significant miniaturization work to be of use for much.

XP
@trekbook +1 Research (Research 6 | 3/7)
@argelbargel +1 Research (Research 3 | 2/4)

Action 7: Look for Housing
Successes: 5
Minor Failure

Turns out that housing in Hawk Ridge is generally in one of two categories. It's either in regular use, or it's an abandoned building that will in all likelihood collapse in on itself in a few years. There's plenty of the former and you really doubt that there's many people who'd be able to stop you from moving in with them, but doing that could have consequences. As for the latter, abandoned buildings tend to be run-down and structurally unsound, and really aren't very pleasant to be in. Pretty much, your options for housing seem to be squatting, getting good enough at affecting the physical world to straight-up build it yourself, or somehow faking being alive long enough to build up enough money to buy it yourself. Pretty much all of these options are either unappealing, or not feasible at the present time.

XP
@SoixanteZio +1 Investigation (Investigation ranks up!)(Investigation 1 | 0/2)

Action 8: Swordsmithing
Successes: 6
Minor Failure

In life, you were a warrior, rather than a smith, and this means you have a noticeable skills deficit when it comes to making things, even after your recent experience assisting with a couple construction projects. You're quite capable of shoving Ectoplasm into a rough sword shape, but similar to the earlier attempts to produce a barricade it quickly falls apart when you stress-test it and it passes through physical matter like it doesn't even exist. Clearly, you will need to either get a lot more skill at making things, or recruit someone more skilled at this sort of task to aid you.Save Draft

XP
@Lizard Knight +1 Research XP, +3 XP for recruitment bonus (Research ranks up twice!)(Research 3 | 0/4)

Event: There goes the masquerade

It's towards the end of the week when the Chickenstein makes itself known again, entering the Nugget Factory during operating hours via the window. The workers all turn to look at the stitched-together fowl, and there's a moment of awkward silence before the monster charges. It quickly disembowels and exsanguinates one of the workers, before charging after another. However, Koko has seen enough, and quickly grabs a couple of the guns she's been working on before opening up on the monster.

The Chickenstein quickly changes its priorities from attacking the living to simply fleeing as the bullets strike home, the beast desperately trying to reach the window.

Again and again, bullets of Ectoplasm slam into the Chickenstein, barely slowing its escape. The oversized fowl is almost to the window when one of the bullets hits it in the rear, leading to a grotesque, misshapen egg to fall from the monstrosity and splatter on the floor as it makes its escape. Koko can't help but swear as the beast escapes, somehow evading pursuit despite the trail of Ectoplasm it constantly leaves.

By this point, most of the workers had already evacuated the packaging room this was taking place in, but there were a few stragglers. One is huddled in the corner of the room, seemingly hoping that the thing wouldn't notice him. Another is peeking out from behind some of the equipment with their smartphone out, apparently having filmed the entire incident.

It's quite clear to everyone there that something shot the accursed beast and drove it off, and as workers slowly file back into the packaging room, they start muttering about what could have possibly happened. It's quite likely that they will arrive at the (correct) conclusion that their factory is haunted, but if you were ever going to have a chance to make a good first impression, now would be it.

Ooooohhhhh, shit.

Sorry, everyone, but I just got a new gun and I really wanted to try it out and that Chicken thing just happened to be there and—you know I'm gonna shut up now.

Still, I think we should let them know we're here. Who knows? Maybe we'll get better leads on those "mysteries" like that Chicken-freak.
