Hey Z, how long is it gonna be between Updates? We doing a weekly thing, or have you just been to busy with IRL stuff to update this? I'm just wondering, cause from what I remember the 'updates' of the OG thread came a bit faster than this.
I'm pretty sure buildings don't need rolls, so it might be better to use the omake as a reroll. Still, it might be possible solely to attempt to get heroic bonuses.

[X] Transform Into an unlocked Building: Extractor:Costs: 25(M) Unlocks Vespene Gas
need Vespene Gas. must locate gas vine, for the swarm. Gas vine found. Must get to the center of the vine to maximize extraction. yes here is the spot beginning transformation... Transformation complete. (I believe that lets me roll an additional dice so two dice if I'm right?)
Becoming a building doesn't take a roll, and doesn't have a base die number either. But if you meet the omake minimum you can roll a die anyway strictly for the faint chance of getting dice explosions to yield a Heroic Bonus.

Today I finally caught up with some of my missed thread announcements and found out this is re-happening.
Where we're at and what we're missing... I don't know.
So for now I'll just do as I did before, and live the life of the drone.
[X] Mine Minerals (1d10)
Time had gone a little funny for the hard working drone. There had been many more drones, and an endless stream of minerals and gas to be gathered. And now... it had a new pile of minerals to gather, and new concerns drifted through the hive. So the drone did what it knew best, and dug into the minerals once more for the first time. Hopefully it would strike a rich seam, to help the hive spread quickly.
The child has an immense psychic presence. You know this because you can feel how sick it is and it's pain and frustration as keenly as if it were your own. It is frustrating in the mental equivalent of a crying child. Yet you know it is important, incredibly so, the specific genetic tie your swarm has to it speaks to intentional genetic design, of both you and the child. The ramifications and meaning of that is something your queens have yet to figure out.
Instead you make great strides in advancing as you come out of a sort of mental haze, your bodies and minds had been on auto pilot until the child needed you. Now awake you make an evolution chamber where your queens can spin genetic strands to improve your biological shells. You make a spawning pool so you have the space and resources to create zerglings. The perfect creatures to send out of your simple tunnel and explore the rest of the world, or at least the immediate area outside of the cave.
And of course an extractor for precious vespene a metabolic catalyst required for higher bodies and studies. These three things are a perfect example of what makes a swarm. Genetic tinkering, war, and resource collection. It is fitting that you would finish exactly those 3 buildings as your first steps forward in this world.
But the psychic crying will not stop. So now you must take some of those limited resources and hunt for a biological substance that may help the child.
Most votes come with a roll of a 10 sided die to determine how well it goes.
For instance if you roll to collect minerals, then the die roll determines how many the swarm gets.
If a vote does not include the 1d10 roll you can still roll and do things to generate dice just to try to get a heroic bonus.
There are a number of ways to get bonus dice.
The first is that any roll (Including ones granted by this rule) that results in a 10 gives a free die roll.
If you get 3 10's in a row you get a HEROIC BONUS (HB for short).
HBs can be spent a number of ways.
Becoming a Heroic Unit, Adding 5 dice to a roll, Certain R&D may require them, Heroic buildings require a heroic drone and more HB and more if you ask.
HB's are shared by the swarm but the person who created it is considered to have dibs for a turn.
Finally every 100 Biomass gathered creates 1 HB for the swarm.
Other ways to get bonus dice include omakes.
Just 3 sentences is enough to get 1 bonus dice
OR to re-roll a die, or allow someone else to re-roll a die.
All re-rolls have to be used on the same turn.
All heroic units get +1 die to all rolls
Heroic Units also can write longer omake (5 sentences) for +2 dice instead of +1 for an omake
Art would also be rewarded.
All previous heroic units have remained.
All other voters are drones again(Sorry)
All R&D other than falcons was lost (but you can produce those until you have vespene)
R&D has now changed:
R&D will have progress instead of being instant it takes queens and heroic queens working on it.
Each one will list it's progress.
Progress is voting on the R&D and the die result is how much progress you make.
Heroic queens are now the only ones who can create a new R&D project (Custom stuff) but that will require heroic buildings normally.
Cannon techs are added to the votes automatically though.
Your can vote for any option that is unlocked by your Species (start as a drone)
You can also vote for any generic option provided below

Child is crying, it is in pain. It needs healing, we lack the resources to feel child. Creat Zergling and send them out to search for need surplies. Swarm cannot fail.
(I don't know if I'm able to send the zergling on on the same turn I make them, if I can't then I'll do it next turn also rolling dice)
Unfortunately no, when you become bodiless you have to use your next turn to gain a new body. It basically takes a turn to "gestate".
Can one of the Heroic Queens please start an R&D project to find out how to help the kid? We don't currently have any Zerglings to send out, so maybe being able to find out what's actually wrong with him will let us determine what we need to find.
The Drone's mandibles clacked together in agitation. The psychic "noise" of the child crying was like a splinter, stuck between carapace plates. Irritating, always making itself known, and something that they could do nothing about. A Drone attempting to scout the area would be the height of foolishness. But their... his? Yes, that seemed to fit their psyche, even if drones were effectively neuter. Perhaps a side effect of the psychic human child's influence on the swarm's collective psyche? The fact that they were a less... coherent brood than it seemed like they should be could also have been a factor. Drones weren't supposed to decide what to do. The Overmind or Cerebrate directed them, and they obeyed with no thought of risk or danger to themselves. But he was acutely aware that attempting to leave the environs of the fledgling Hive would be folly at best, and effective suicide at worst. And while he was sure that his mind would remain suspended within the collective, his unique body adaptations would be lost. The brood couldn't afford the loss of the extra materials his harvesting adaptations brought to the table. Speaking of, with an extractor now gestated, it would probably be a good idea to grab some Vespene gas.
This drone noted the progress the swarm had made in the time it had been active. It had made a Spawning Pool to spawn Zerglings, a Evolution Chamber to improve the Swarm , and an Extractor to obtain the valuable Vespene Gas. This drone noted that unfortunately none of those building could directly heal the child's weakness. It would take just as much time as the Swarm had been active to spawn the Zerglings, which would then spend time scouring the land for medicine. There was nothing this drone or any other could do to lessen the time the actions took. However, this drone did know that it could contribute to ensuring the actions happened, as the actions required minerals. And so, this drone continued to mine.

We don't exactly have any R&D to research the kid's ailments. We could ask Zedalb to make one, otherwise our best bet would be researching to speed up scouting. However, said research requires a significant mount of Vespene Gas.
I think any omake bonuses for actions that don't require rolls should be used as re-rolls for actions that do, as they give an actual mechanical benefit and are just as likely to roll a 10, and as such just as likely to generate heroic bonuses.
