The Corsican Ogre: A Napoleonic Wizardry Quest

We've already snuck out of our cells, met up with everyone and its night so if we wanted to go with the sneaking out at night plan is there a reason we couldn't go now instead of waiting a day? Is it that there isnt enough time left to get it done tonight?

[X] "We sneak in under the cover of night." Just do to reach the oubliette what you did to gather in this room, each of you breaking out of their own cell then making their way down individually until you can meet up, trusting in stealth and the Chateau's inability to watch all of itself.

[x] "We break out of the higher dungeons." The Wardens will expect you to be causing trouble over the fate of your friend; use that. Make them send you for a time-out in the usual cells, from which the strongest of you can break everyone out and find yourself right next to your target.

Longer post later, but I really like this one for how it exploits the Chateau's own mental blind spots and complacent assumptions. We're Known Troublemakers who were involved in one riot so it's expecting Something and probably watching us closely, but it's probably never had anyone try and break into another dungeon be a serious threat, much less into the oubliette, and also the dungeons are like- part of the stomach. I don't think it pays super close attention to things it's already swallowed. They're dealt with. It doesn't need to monitor them closely. It just needs to keep them from getting out, why would they be going deeper?

Good 'ol reliable "just sneak over when no one's looking" - except we've already, by meeting all together here, drawn its attention. Admittedly, just to this room rather than to us, but still.

I'd expect this to get us and most of our crew to the oubliette - but I suspect we'll have probably have one crewmember who gets caught or otherwise incapacitated on the way there.

[ ] "We start another riot." This time it won't be aimless and directionless, it will serve as the big distraction to draw all the guards to the courtyard and hide a coordinate push to the dungeons. Give the Chateau a hundred things to be more worried about than you.

Probably the most effective way to go, if we want to get everyone down there intact - but mostly because we're offloading some of the danger to us on the rest of the prisoners. I am not down for this. Seriously, "spending the lives of others to benefit ourselves" is not something we want to get into as a habit.

It would be one thing if it was part of an organized plot, where the other prisoners knew what they were the distraction while we went to kill the heart of the Chateau, but that's not our option here. And giving out enough info to get informed volunteers would probably just get us caught ahead of time.

I expect this will get us all in, but with injuries, missing equipment, etc. But consider: this is the option where we get to start off by declaring we will cause problems on purpose.

"It is a beautiful day in the Chateau, and you are a horrible prisoner"

It's not pretty. But as Burnham said, we're already committing to risking the others in this escape - blowing a hole in the wall or activating random Egyptian relics already risks them. And if the Warden thinks our response is another riot rather than a break out attempt, that might just give us the space we need.

It's like double the dungeons for the same price.

Trick them by showing them what they want to see.

"Flex room," so to speak. Ming-Wei and Burnham's magic works best if they have time to prepare and work it ahead of time, while Vivienne and Dumas need to retrieve their alchemical enhancers, decide what to take with them and what to leave behind, and suchlike. Additionally the Chateau's spatial abnormalities mean that going from the practice room down to the deep would take a lot more time than going from the cells to the deep, and they've already eaten into the night-time.

None of it is so important that the group couldn't decide to risk gunning for it right now on a more limited timetable and with fewer resources but with the benefit of the Chateau being on a lower alertness level, but giving it an extra day gives me more room to backfill stuff that might have happened in that day and lets me keep the timeline consistent across all options.

Yeah, think this is the bad option that I'm most comfortable with.
