Snippet 3: Horrors of the abyss.
March 4, 2026: It was supposed to be a normal patrol mission for DESDIV6, Tenryuu, and Blue Ridge and her crew. until they encountered something horrifying, something that could only be described as terror from the deep.
They were first spotted by the Blue Ridge's Seahawk helicopter pilots.
"This is Seahawk one to Blue Ridge. Come in"
Blue Ridge picked up the radio and answered,
"This is Blue Ridge, over."
Captain Keys was watching the escorting shipgirls, DESDIV 6 and Tenryuu sail alongside his ship, he then turned to Blue Ridge who was the comms officer for that shift.
"We have spotted a new abyssal type…. And it will be in visual range of you within seconds, i suggest you slow down and have the shipgirls get to the port side where it will be approaching you from" the helicopter pilot reported, Blue Ridge could hear the copilot muttering prayers through the microphone.
"This is Blue Ridge, acknowledged, return." Blue Ridge said before turning to see Keys going onto the port superstructure.
When he got outside, Keys saw that the shipgirls were staring at the abyssals with blank, horrified stares, as if they had seen a demon. Keys looked through a pair of binoculars, and what he saw, was more horrifying than he thought possible. The Abyssal cargo ships were not just metal and wood, they had been made out of people. They were monstrous creatures, groaning in pain with every movement, their upper half looked like something out of a horror game. An oversized human torso with bulging muscles and what appeared to be a cargo pod bloating and growing out of their stomachs, with a monstrous amalgam of propeller, leg, tentacle, and fins making up their lower half.
"What the hell are those?" the XO asked and turned to Keys for orders, and he was frozen, unable to say anything.
The rest of the crew members that saw the abominations also froze in horror temporarily, but did their best to keep working, and make sure the ship was ready for orders.
Keys stood there frozen, his brain overwhelmed by the horror and fear he was experiencing, only barely hearing the XO's repeated requests for orders. Blue Ridge was also horrified, but she was not frozen, she was beginning to bend the handrail she was holding onto. But Blue Ridge soon let go of the handrail and turned to Keys.
"Sir, we need orders" she said, tapping him on the shoulder, causing him to snap out of his trance.
"Are both Seahawks onboard?" he asked. Blue Ridge nodded.
"Yes. sir, should i have them loaded up with ordnance?" she asked.
Keys nodded and frowned. "Yes, Hydra Rocket pods, let's put those poor people out of their misery, and have them take pictures for the intel spooks."
Blue Ridge salute and left for the hangar and flight deck.
"Sir, Yes Sir!" she said.
A few minutes later, Keys saw the two Sikorsky Seahawk helicopters that the Blue Ridge carried fly towards the abyssal cargo ships, their wing pylons fully loaded with Hydra Rocket pods.
He then walked back to the bridge, where the nose cameras on the Helicopters had been linked and were transmitting to a large display, and the monsters were more horrifying up close than they were from a distance, the feed showed huge strips of rotting flesh hanging off the victims that had been turned into the monstrous cargo ships, he noticed something on the head of the torso, a small ovoid object, that seemed to have eight spikes which were keeping it attached, the surrounding skin, flesh, and metal was covered in blood and gore.
"This is Seahawk flight, are we clear for engagement?" came over the radio, Keys gave a calm reply with an undertone of rage.
"You are clear to engage, Seahawk flight, put them out of their misery" he said into the microphone.
Shortly after, the screen showed each helicopter dedicating a single rocket pod to each of the abyssal cargo ships, tearing them open with horrible screams of pain while killing them near instantly.
"Sir, should we try and snap our escorts out of their trance?" The XO asked, to which Keys nodded, the XO leaving the bridge. Soon the small fleet group was back on course. But that encounter would forever leave scars in the minds of everyone there, forever reinforcing that the Abyssals were monuments to all of humanity's sins.
