Chapter 1: Alone In The Snow
Location
United States
On a mountain, far from civilization, there was a group of extraordinary people. Each of them seeking or searching for something, or perhaps waiting for someone. But they have been brought together, from different times. Priscilla, the Crossbreed and Child of Dragons. Solaire, Praiser of the Sun and Wandering Knight. Yorshka, the Company Captain and Sister of Gwyndolin. Lucatiel, Raised in Mirrah and Traveling Warrior.

All of them were brought onto one mountain, on another world. Far from the dead ashes of Irithyll, the chill of Ariamis, and the Dead City of Anor Londo. They were to begin their journey, if they survive the night that is…

"This place is far too cold to be Ariamis," Priscilla thought, holding her scythe close. The biting wind leaving her body numb. "There must be a shelter, or perhaps a cave?" She looked around, hoping to find some sort of shelter to prevent her from freezing to death. Priscilla persevered, walking through the snow covered forest.

Her feet crushed the snow beneath them, the sound of wind and crunching footsteps were her only company. Until she came across another figure, half buried in the snow. They seemed to be nobility, judging from how they dressed. Upon further inspection, it turned out that it was a young crossbreed, with similar features to her own.

Spying a cave nearby, Priscilla dug her newfound (and barely breathing) companion out of the deep snow. It was disconcerting how thin she was, combined with how big Priscilla was compared to the younger.

Gently picking her up, the Crossbreed made her way to the cave. It was dark, yet it would suffice for shelter, if temporary. Going inside with her companion, Priscilla finally rested within the dark and chilling cave. She had only her scythe and an unknown companion, trying her best to keep her eyes open. It was trying, the cold combined with the weariness slowly ebbing away at what energy she had left.

It wouldn't hurt to rest her eyes, for a moment… The sirens of sleep had achieved their goal, having lured Priscilla into the dark veil that was sleep. With her grip on her scythe and her companion slipping, the Crossbreed welcomed sleep like an old friend.

In the darkened forests, a duo emerged. One a knight with the sun emblazoned on his armor, a sword and shield in his hands. The other was dressed in fine clothes and wielding a large sword, her face obscured by a bearded mask.

"Gods damn this wind," The female knight cursed, shivering in the cold. "Where are we even going?" She asked, earning a small chuckle from her companion.

"There might be a cave here, mountains have them around in some form." He mentioned, marching through the snow without care. His companion cursed once more, moving with him again with confusion. This was Knight Solaire and Lucatiel of Mirrah, both of them moving through the same snow.

The duo soon came upon a cave, with two people resting inside. They were far larger than your usual person, looking more like the divines that Solaire had heard of. But there were draconic features as well, marking their status as Crossbreeds. Taking initiative, Lucatiel made a quick decision.

Moving close to them, she made sure the two were breathing. Both of them were, barely. There was a moment of calm, as Lucatiel began to formulate a plan to help them.

"Solaire, find us some wood. Anything dry for tinder, I'll stay here and make sure they're still breathing." The knight followed her orders, making with haste as he searched for any sort of wood or tinder.

Luckily for him and his new allies, Solaire found quite a bit. Mostly dry pine branches, and a large pouch of dry pine needles was in his left hand. It'd be enough to start a small fire, though with what? "Perhaps...Charcoal Pine Resin, I have some in my pack if I recall correctly." Solaire mused, pausing in his endeavor to gather wood.

True to his thoughts, there was a small pouch of charcoal pine. It was still warm, glowing with enough heat that it would start a fire. Making his way back to the cave, he found Lucatiel doing her best to rouse the two Crossbreeds from their sleep. While she was doing that, Solaire went to making the fire.

Once done, he carefully took some of the foul smelling Charcoal Pine Resin out with a twig from the bundle. It smelt like ash, with a hint of something else. But Solaire ignored that, placing the burning twig onto the pile of wood. The dry pine needles caught fire first, with the pinewood following soon after. Within moments, they had a roaring fire going for them and their two Crossbreeds.

Lucatiel and Solaire sat in silence after that, calmly enjoying the fire. The wind outside was starting to die down, the once piercing wail now a calm whisper. It was finally peaceful, with both of them finding themselves nearly falling asleep at one point.

"One of us should take watch," Lucatiel mentioned while rubbing the sleep out of her eyes. "Something else besides the cold could kill us." She added, finally feeling more refreshed and awakened by the flames. Solaire in the mean time, was barley keeping his head up. Both of them agreed that Lucatiel should take first watch, since Solaire was barely keeping his torch lit.

By the time Lucatiel had found a place to keep watch, Solaire had already fallen asleep. The sound of soft snoring and crackling fire were the only noises keeping her awake, and soon she'd see the sun rise.

Perhaps this wouldn't be so bad, the wind was calming and there was a light on the horizon. Who knows? Perhaps this could be better than before.
