//Decided to revive an old concept I had on Spacebattles because I'm a madman. I may have recently mentioned wanting to start up a more fun quest idea on another recent quest I started, The Candidate and The Fragments, after what seems to have been a poor initial reception. To be honest, this quest probably would've happened regardless of what happens to that one, which is still up in the air at the moment...

//Also, for those of you participating in Remnants of a Void, I promise that the next update to that will come within the next few days, so hang in there.

//Anyway, those things aside, let's get right into this, shall we?
----------------------------

You are what the Imperium of Man would refer as both a witch and a heretic: A young psyker woman who had been recently inducted into a local Chaos Cult on your homeworld. You showed great loyalty to the cause, and had always strived to impress both the cult leader and potentially the dark gods themselves...

Your name is...
[] (Write in)

And your Cult's name…
[] (Write in)
[] Is irrelevant (Your Cult will remain nameless)

Your cult was composed of many different worshippers, some worshipping specific gods, while others -- and the cult as a whole -- worshipped Chaos Undivided. You, personally, are a follower of…

[] Khorne - The God of Blood, Violence, Honor, Skulls, and Murder.
>Gain trait: "Bloodlust"
>Gaining favor with this god is easier, and it starts at 10%.
>While its use is begrudgingly deemed acceptable in utility purposes such as connecting to The Warp, Khorne is known to detest sorcery and therefore grants no psyker skillsets. Instead, you start with an additional weapon (A chainaxe) and the skill level necessary to use it effectively.
>Opposes: Slaanesh, Tzeentch. - You will lose favor with Khorne if you try to directly gain any favor from either of these gods. Additionally gaining favor from them is harder.

[] Tzeentch - The Master of Change, Sorcery, Fate, Knowledge, and Hope.
>Gain trait "Just As Planned"
>Gaining favor with this god is easier, and it starts at 10%
>Grants immediate access to the Tzeentch skillset (Starter skill: Bolt of Change)
>Opposes: Nurgle - You will lose favor with Tzeentch if you try to directly gain any favor from this god. Additionally, gaining favor from Nurgle is harder.

[] Nurgle - The Lord of Plagues, Death, and Decay.
>Gain trait "Nurgle's Love"
>Gaining favor with this god is easier, and starts at 10%
>Grants immediate access to the Nurgle skillset (Starter skill: Nurgle's Rot)
>Opposes: Tzeentch - You will lose favor with Nurgle if you try to directly gain any favor from this god. Additionally, gaining favor from Tzeentch is harder.

[] Slaanesh - The Prince of Pleasure, Perfection, Sensation, and Desire.
>Gain trait "Seductive Perfection"
>Gaining favor with this god is easier, and starts at 10%
>Grants immediate access to the Slaanesh skillset (Starter skill: Acquiescence)
>Opposes: Khorne - You will lose favor with Slaanesh if you try to directly gain any favor from this god. Additionally, gaining favor from Khorne is harder.

[] Chaos Undivided - You worship all four equally as a single pantheon.
>Gain trait "Entropic Unity"
>You gain no initial boosts to favor gains and your favor with every god starts at 6%.
>However, you can attempt to directly gain favor from any of the four gods without the penalties from gods they oppose.
>Grants immediate access to the Chaos Undivided skillset (Starter skill: Doombolt)

Bloodlust
> +10 to Combat
> +5 to Intimidation
> High-risk, high reward combat choices have a boosted success chance.
> Using psyker abilities in combat causes a massive favor drop with your patron god.

Just As Planned
> The first failed roll in any combat situation will be rerolled.
> +5 to Persuasion
> Psyker skills have a greater chance to succeed (+10 to Psychic). Additionally, it's easier to learn new psyker abilities.

Nurgle's Love
> Any combat debuffs you receive are reduced by 50% and rounded up. (i,e. What would've been a -10 becomes a -5, a -5 would be a -3, etc.)
> Over time your appearance degrades due to a disease, which debuffs Persuasion and increases Intimidation by 2 points each in-game day. But only if you aren't actively concealing these deformities.

Seductive Perfection
> +10 to Persuasion
> Any roll greater than 95 is treated as if you rolled a natural 100.

Entropic Unity
> +5 to all rolls.
> You receive no penalties from dealing with opposing gods.
> You must have negative favor with three out of the four gods to trigger a bad ending as opposed to only your patron god.

Today the entire cult was gathered in an attempt to summon a greater daemon from The Warp -- the realm of Chaos and the source of all psychic energy in the universe. -- Needless to say, the ritual went wrong rather quickly, and rather than drawing forth a daemon from the Immaterium, a violent vortex was torn open and proceeded to immediately draw in both you and your entire "family". As you hurtled through the chaotic realm, you watched as every one of your brothers and sisters were lost to The Warp to suffer horrible fates, and pretty soon you found yourself completely alone, with your only company being the discomfort coursing through your body as this anomalous tunnel in Warpspace pulls you ever forward.

With nothing left to do, you begin to pray to the dark gods. It was a long-shot, but you cling to the hope that at least one of them would hear your pleas…

Soon, it seems your prayers are answered and the uncomfortable feeling fades as white light washes over you. Soon, you find yourself impacting with solid ground. As you take a moment to breathe and realize that yes, you are truly alive, you notice the unfamiliar scenery around you.

It's then that you hear a voice in your head…

Your devotion has not gone unnoticed by us. As the only one of that pathetic group of incompetent fools you called a family to even pray to us in their last moments, we have decided that there could be a use for you…

You stand one of several worlds untouched by Chaos. A world from a material plane beyond your own. One that the Immaterium had only recently brushed against. Therefore, we have tasked you to enlighten this world to the Primordial Truth, as a... test of your devotion, if you will. Therefore, it would do you well not to disappoint us… Now go forth, and bring this world to its knees!

As the voice's last words fade, you find yourself blinking. The gods have tasked you with an important job… They had spared your life and had given you a new purpose… With a look of newfound determination, you stand up and gaze out over the horizon. Sure, you might not be the best servant of Chaos yet, but you sure as hell weren't going to squander this chance…

Chaos will rise. You will make sure of it!

Which world have you been tasked to enlighten?

[] A world with a shattered moon and teeming with soulless beings with no connection to The Warp. (Remnant, RWBY - Difficulty: Normal)
[] A world of four nations, each run by an alleged "goddess", each competing for faith. (Gamindustri (Hyperdimension), Hyperdimension Neptunia - Difficulty: Normal)
[] A world locked in a cycle of Hope and Despair. You immediately have a feeling that something is watching you. (Earth, PMMM - Difficulty: High)
[] A small world separated from a larger whole. Filled to the brim with what the larger world would consider supernatural. (Gensokyo, Touhou - Difficulty: Very High)

You can currently manifest psyker powers from two Disciplines, one of them is Telepathy. What is the other one?

[] Biomancy - Manipulation of biological energy and processes (Starter skill: Smite)
[] Divination - Experience psychic visions of the past and future (Starter skill: Prescience)
[] Pyromancy - Burn everything! (Starter skill: Flame Breath)
[] Telekinesis - Manipulate the physical world with your mind alone. (Starter skill: Assail)

During the time between being inducted into the cult and your current situation, you were learning from some of the senior members. What did they teach you?

[] Elementary ritual practices and standards.
>Gain trait "Fledgling Evoker"

[] Basic combat techniques.
>Gain trait "Basic Training"

[] Ways to better focus and control your gift.
>Gain trait "Warped Focus"

[] How to better spread the cult's ideals to others.
>Gain trait "Novice Preacher"

Fledgling Evoker
> +3 to Summoning.

Basic Training
> +3 to Combat.

Warped Focus
> +3 to Psychic.

Novice Preacher
> +3 to Persuasion.

Rules and Mechanics
Welcome to Seeds of Entropy, a quest where you play as a Chaos Cultist attempting to spread the word of Chaos to a previously untouched world. The ultimate end goal of this endeavor is to cause the world in question to fall to Chaos. How you go about this is up to you, the players. Will you go a subtle route and corrupt the world from within? Would you contact a Traitor Legion and start a bloody conquest of the planet? Or would you find a middle ground between the two, or perhaps a different approach entirely?

This quest is a straightforward quest that will have a mix of both typical quest gameplay and empire management elements as your small Cult grows in power. Ultimately, though, the main character is the driving force behind this Cult, and should she die it would certainly lead to a less than ideal ending. The gods will give you second chances if they come to see you as somebody of value, but these chances are limited as the Chaos gods are fickle entities. You could also eliminate this risk by reaching the maximum possible favor with a god in order to ascend into a Daemon Prince associated with them. Of course, should this happen, while you could die as much as you wanted, as soon as your favor that god drops below a certain level they would happily devour your soul as punishment.

Unlike most of my quests, this one will actually have some relevant stats. The most important of which is Favor. Favor is a measure of your worth to a particular Chaos god, and each god has their own Favor stat. High Favor comes with benefits: Most notably, if you reach 50% Favor with any god, that god will save you from death, but only once per god. At 100% Favor, you unlock the option to become a Daemon Prince associated with that god, which both grants you immortality and extreme levels of power, but the game will end if you ever drop below 80% Favor with that god.

Additionally, dropping into negative Favor with a god you're aligned to will have one of two effects:
  1. The god deems you worthless and drags your soul into The Warp, resulting in a bad end.
  2. If you have 50% favor with another god and they haven't spared you yet, they will save you from your patron god at the cost of changing your alignment. This is the only way to change alignment, and can only happen once.

If you are unaligned (Chaos Undivided), you will not be saved from a negative Favor ending. However, as a tradeoff, being an Undivided worshipper gives you a safety net: Since you are appealing to all four gods, you must have a negative favor with the majority (3/4) to trigger a negative Favor ending.

Favor can be gained by ritual sacrifice and doing tasks for the gods (direct gains) or by doing actions the gods approve of (indirect gains). It can be lost by doing tasks for gods that your patron one opposes (if aligned to a god), or by doing actions they do not approve of.

Another major stat is Visibility. This starts at 0% and is a measure of how noticeable your Cult's presence is on the world. At higher visibility levels, the locals will be aware of your Cult's presence with varying levels of suspicion, and more militaristic factions may try to move against you if they distrust your presence enough. Note that this value will grow as your Cult does, and the actions you take can accelerate or slow down its growth. Depending on the world you select, this value may also be split across several factions, and each individual visibility will be mostly independent of one another.

In addition to Favor and Visibility, you have five other stats, which act as modifiers to specific types of rolls:

Combat - Any combat action that does not involve drawing on the Warp.
Psychic - Any roll involving a psyker skill. Does not necessarily have to be combat related.
Persuasion - A social roll that involves attempting to persuade somebody to do what you want.
Intimidation - A social roll where you attempt to intimidate someone into doing an action.
Summoning - Governs the success of Warp related rituals, such as summoning daemons or contacting Chaos Space Marines.

Over the course of this quest you may also accumulate Traits, which are groups of one or more permanent bonuses and/or detriments. Think of them like perks. They can be gained and/or improved through actions such dealing with the Chaos Gods, your character's personal studies, or by simply interacting with the world and its inhabitants.

A list of your current traits will be listed on the stat post along with your other stats.

Finally, over the course of the quest you will also have access to Skillsets/Disciplines. A Skillset or Discipline contains a family of psyker skills that are available as options, either in combat, or outside of it, depending on the skill. By focusing on a Skillset/Discipline when training opportunities are presented, you can discover and learn new skills. You will always know the first skill of a new Skillset/Discipline by default.

With that out of the way, my only other rule is to have fun. Omakes are welcome and encouraged.

Goremages are a neat bit of Khorne that I'd like to explore more. From my understanding, Khorne is somewhat ok with this brand of psyker since they mainly use their gifts to punch harder rather than fry someone from a distance.

As for the chosen world, PMMM is admittedly not very good for Khorne since it lacks any big wars that Khorne thrives in, so that'll be a added and welcome challenge. Most likely we'll have to garner influence from war hawk politicians and magical girls down on their luck when it comes to turf wars for Witches.

Before I vote got to ask, how much favor would 'Tutu' give us if we give him the Relic of Knowledge from RWBY. The same question regarding 'Koko' and the Relic of Destruction.

>Your status has been updated.

The first thing you note after your arrival is the walled city off in the distance with a peculiar looking tower situated on a cliff overlooking it. Almost immediately you start making your way towards it, for you most certainly couldn't fulfill the will of the Dark Gods if you were in the middle of nowhere.

Soon, you find a road, which you promptly begin to follow. After a long walk you enter what appears to be some sort of agricultural area. You spot a few armed individuals patrolling the edges of the fields as you continue on your way, but they seem to pay you little attention. Moving on, you soon reach a small dwelling where a young man is busy tinkering with some kind of primitive farming equipment. It is here that you decide to ask for information.

"Excuse me, do you have a moment?" you question, only for the man to give you a quizzical look.

"Um... Hello, there! ...What did you say?" he babbles in some language that is obviously not low gothic. Inwardly, you sigh. Of course there's a language barrier... Thankfully, your telepathy can circumvent the issue, but it's still inconvenient.

Using your powers to read his surface thoughts in order to translate what he just said, you proceed to send a psychic reply, [I'm sorry for bothering you, but I've been on the road for a while. Could you tell me where I am?]

He visibly winces at the sound of your mental voice. Perhaps you were a bit too forceful? You'd need to work on that...

"What was that, was that your Semblance?" he questions.

[...Yes.] despite being unfamiliar with the term, you decide to play along for the moment, 'speaking' a bit more softly to reduce the amount of mental strain you put on him, [I have a... major speech impediment, but my... Semblance... lets me to talk to others clearly with my mind. Anyway, my question?]

"Oh, uh... right." he blinks, "Well, you're in the agricultural district of Vale. The city proper is just up the road. Does that help?"

[It does. Thank you.] you nod, before continuing on your way.

***

This "Vale" city is definitely a far cry from the cities you're used to: Significantly less crowded, and a bit more colorful as well.

As you walk down the streets to familiarize yourself with the city's layout, you notice that there seem to be two main groups of people in the population here: Normal humans, as well as a race of mutants or abhumans with bestial traits. By witnessing a few interactions, you note that the abhumans tend to be discriminated against, which makes them a tempting target for enlightenment...

You also note that people tend to give you strange looks as you pass by. You wonder why you seem so out of place before the realization hits you and you mentally swear. In your excitement, you had forgotten you're still dressed in your cultist robes, which proudly bear a very large emblem of Chaos Undivided right on the front. It would definitely be seen as out of place by the local populace.

Seeking to rectify the situation, you duck into an alley way and, making sure nobody can see you, proceed to remove your robes, before putting them back on inside-out. It's not the most ideal solution, but at least it conceals the mark of Chaos... With a sigh, you thank the Ruinous Powers that this world has no signs of Imperium presence, otherwise you'd probably be dead right now for your folly.

Moving on, you continue to spend a good portion of the day walking around the city, searching for good areas to set up a new base of operations for your cult as well as gather information on this city. Ultimately, you find that the city is divided into five sectors: An agricultural district, an industrial district, a commercial district, a residential district, and an upper class district. There is also a river that runs through the industrial district, fed by two tributaries that form the borders of the residential block. Additionally, the tower on the cliff overlooking the city is some kind of communication system that's surrounded by some kind of educational institution named "Beacon".

You also learn that there are more than a few warehouses near the docks. Perhaps they might be worth investigating as a possible, albeit temporary, base of operations... Alternatively, you could try the local sewers, though who knows what you may find down there. Another option would be to locate the slums of this city and see if there are any abandoned residences you could use.

Of course, there is also the issue of money. During your excursion, you learned that the currency of this world appears to be an assortment of colorful, plastic cards known as Lien. Idly you wonder if the few Throne Gelts you have on you would be worth anything on this world, but you figure that its highly unlikely... Therefore, you should probably find a way to earn money here. You can't run a successful cult without at least some financial backing, after all...

...Well, technically, you could, but it would limit your options should you choose to pursue certain methods, as well as potentially increase the time it takes to get certain things done. Not to mention you would have to resort to unnecessary illegal activities such as petty theft in order to acquire some things, and if that goes wrong it could draw unwanted attention...

Finding a local clock, you see that it appears to be afternoon in this world's local time. Therefore, you definitely have quite a bit of time to get things done today. With that in mind, you begin to ponder your next move...

You have enough time to perform two actions before nightfall. Please select two.

[] Find a place to set up a base of operations. Even if it's temporary, it would be good to have some shelter to return to.
-[] Investigate the warehouses by the docks. One will definitely be roomy enough to support a fledgling Cult. Perhaps one of them is vacant?
-[] Investigate the local sewers. It would certainly be harder for people to accidentally find, but sewage pipes could host their own myriad of hazards.
-[] Investigate Vale's poor districts. Perhaps there is an abandoned property you could take up residence in?
-[] Perhaps there's another option? (Write-in)

[] Find a way to earn some of this world's currency. With financial backing you could expand your Cult easier, as well as reduce the number of unnecessary illegal activities that might draw suspicion.
-[] <Persuasion> Attempt to get a job at a bar or club. Not only would it be a source of income, but such places are supposedly good places to get information.
-[] <Persuasion> Attempt to get a job at a bookstore or library. It would be easier to teach yourself how to read the native language if you had convenient access to local literature. Of course, it might be difficult to even obtain such a job due to the aforementioned language barrier issue...
-[] Despite being frail at physical combat, you do have offensive psychic abilities... Perhaps you could offer yourself as a mercenary or bodyguard?
-[] Perhaps there's another option? (Write-in. Depending on what it is it may invoke a Persuasion roll)

[] Seek out individuals to possibly recruit into your Cult.
-[] <Persuasion> Openly preach the Primordial Truth. (Increases visibility. You will find a number of follower candidates in proportion to how well you roll Persuasion.)
-[] Scout around the city for individuals who would benefit from the influence of Chaos.
-[] Observe the abhumans with animal traits, perhaps some of them would be easy to enlighten?

[] Research this world more.
-[] Find a library and attempt to decipher the native language.
-[] Ask around about the purpose of 'Beacon' and the tower it surrounds. You still know little about them beyond exactly what they are.
-[] Ask about the purpose of the armed men you saw in the agricultural area. Surely they're on the lookout for something, but what?
-[] Other? (Write-in)

1. No point in getting a job. Without a place to stay after it's done...though unsure when it the timeline this takes place. Shrugs.

2. Let's get some basic Remnant denizen skills!
