Re:Birth, A MMO Story

[x] A. Efficient Calling - Halves the amount of Mana reserved by Call Blade.
[x] 8. Heavy Armor Proficiency (Proficiency) (Upgrades Medium Armor Proficiency) - White Tiger does not have Paladins in the way the 'Greater' Gods do. Instead some of her priests don the heavy armor of such an order, to stand on the front lines and defend others with their great powers.
[x] J. A better shield, to improve my called shield's ability to block more attacks.
[x] Q1. Focus on Death Pockets around the Western Woods, and try to bring the Death Aura under control.

We have more of a turtle personality so let's do a turtle impression.

[x] B. Double Call - You may summon two called weapons at once with Call Blade, with 25% reduced stats.

All our mana being reserved is fine. Fluffy is specializing in buffing us so she can give us better buffs than we can give ourselves, and we're the tank so we're going to be too busy with melee combat to sit around casting. The more called weapons we have the bigger the impact of Fluffy's buffs on us. This should unlock future options for 4x called blades, 8x called blades, etc.

This also means we can continue using the Naginata which is about to level up alongside a new cool weapon with a different specialization.

We're the tank. And if we pick this now we get a complete free set of high-quality heavy armor. This is a substantial buff.

[x] M. A huge heavy weapon to maximize the offensive power of my called blade, sacrificing speed.

I want a ridiculous buster sword that can crack the defenses of stronger enemies and wreck bosses. Some enemies have flat damage reduction that reduces weaker weapon attacks to tickles, but does little against big hits. With Double Call we'd still have the Naginata to parry and harass faster assailants and to continue evolving through its growth ability. Let's go full Ornstein and Smough.

[x] Q1. Focus on Death Pockets around the Western Woods, and try to bring the Death Aura under control.

Letting the rest of the group continue grinding at 2x XP for a few days until their buff expires sounds good to me. I think we could all use a few more levels before going after a boss. Popping Death Pockets lets us progress towards resolution of a crisis and seems like a more manageable objective while we do our own grinding.

[X] A. Efficient Calling - Halves the amount of Mana reserved by Call Blade.

We should definitely focus on suring up our tanking ability before anything else.

[X] B. Double Call - You may summon two called weapons at once with Call Blade, with 25% reduced stats.

[x] 1. Alter Weapon (Buff) - The Armory Priest warps their weapons according to their whims, changing the physical damage type of a weapon by altering its shape. Percentage of damage type changes based on Intelligence and skill rank.

[X] P1. Join with the whole guild and try to kill the boss.

I picked the first two to offset the heavy armor choice and try to keep our dmg options open, especially with alter weapon, we saw how useful that can be from when we faced those rock golems. Fluffy is going to keep buffing us so eventually we're gonna wanna be the turtle nuke I think even if I don't think it's wrong to focus on the turtle part first.

Our character s definitely the anime type who's not going to unlock that killer instinct/tiger's rage until one of our party member's is in mortal danger or we get betrayed somehow it seems.

As for what to do next I think I either favor the death pockets or the slime boss if only because the latter seems pretty straight forward and not necessarily too time consuming to complete. I would be fine with either.

edit - speaking of the rock golems and the fallout from that, i don't expect it should win, but that repair weapon ritual is potentially a huge money saver for the guild as a whole. we might want to learn if anyone in our guild has learned it, especially since some other members just leveled up.

Changing my skill set vote, but keeping the boss vote. If not too late we should really be the ones who are the first to kill a dungeon boss and get a nice bonus

I think Efficient Calling is being overvalued here.

Sure it frees up mana for buffing. But Fluffy is already buffing us better than we can buff ourselves and the gap is only going to grow with further specialization. It doesn't seem worth the opportunity cost in upgrade unlocks or combat actions.

Making room for a third Called summon to be active at once would require us to pick Efficient Calling now for Called Blade, Efficient Calling later for Called Shield, and then to spend a Skill unlock on picking up a third Called skill. This is a lot of opportunity cost to get a third summon out. This would give us more variety, but the downside to that variety is that it makes it a lot less efficient to buff us as each summon needs its own separate buff maintained instead of sharing buffs. By comparison if we used multiple blades through Double Call all could benefit from the same buff and Fluffy could specialize in that buff for greater effect.

As for enemies like the rock golem which resist the naginata, I think we're either going to find swords that are big enough and heavy enough to be effective against them through sheer crushing weight or by overcoming flat damage resistance, or Fluffy is going to find us a buff to get around it. If neither of those options works for us then I think we're better off cancelling our Called Blade summons entirely in favor of a different summon, in which case the mana reservation of Called Blade being lower doesn't matter.

Great point Triage! Changing my vote now.

Also, given QM's word that it shouldn't take more than maybe two days there and back, perhaps three if something goes Horribly Wrong, I think we have the time up our sleeves to finish the escort quest, which afair, has amazing rewards. We can do that, come back and deplete the Death Pockets a bit, and if our Guild haven't beaten the Slaimyo yet, we can help them before finishing off the Death Pockets.

I kinda doubt that she is going to keep specializing on buffing though. Akane her trainer seems to have taught her to specialize in offense and killing all of our enemies for us rather than being a buffer and defender of us.

This issue gets resolved when the boss dies. I see no reason to pursue this with how much is on our plate already.

Because the quest rewards are really good and it won't take long unless it goes horribly wrong.

EDIT: Triage convinced me of needing a big fuck you weapon. My concern is though @Triage that we could get the huge weapon vote but not the double call skill.

And depending on how the skills are chosen... Maybe it'll be another raffle. Probably. I haven't noticed if that were the case recently...

Yeah this is a possible danger, but worst case scenario Hita can swap weapons to suit enemy type until Call Blade gets another perk point.

Doubling the amount of your called blades, even if they were 25% weaker each, seemed like a no brainer to you. You clicked it without much hesitation - after all, doubling your amount of summoned attacks meant a lot. Your naginata had been crucial in helping you survive with your defensive fighting style, and still kill things. For just a moment you were excited for the idea of the armory for the weapon that might be joining you soon. But before you could focus your attention in on picking out one of the many weapons from within, your eyes were caught by something else.

You were the closest thing your party had to a tank. And a huge set of armor caught your eye as the perfect thing for a tank to wear - a true samurai's regalia, missing only the mengu to complete your favorite samurai look. You hadn't even equipped a single piece of medium armor before upgrading yourself further, but you didn't regret it as you looked at what lay in front of you. You clicked the button without hesitation as you accepted the role as the party tank, going so far as upgrading your armor proficiency straight to heavy. The upgrade didn't make you feel any different, but as you moved to pick up your armor you were quite excited. You'd look like a real samurai now - the greens of its coloration of the armor of Asashi not exactly fitting your pure white aesthetics, but still looking quite intimidating all the same - though it lacked the traditional mask that might block your face.

[Asahi Heavy Samurai Kabuto (Rare) (Helmet)
Made in the style of the Shogun's Samurai, this armor is standard issue for the heavy elites of important cities throughout Yamato. These heavy samurai are known for their willingness to stand against any threat, never breaking no matter the strength of their enemies. This variant is colored in the spring green colors of Asahi, a color chosen to represent unity without one Guardian God over any other.

The armor itself was a little... boring. The flat stat bonuses didn't exactly compare favorably to stuff like your band of speed which gave a percentage bonus that would clearly be useful far into the future. But the bonuses were also large, and covered most of what you might expect heavy armor to cover. More than anything, the fact that every single piece offered more defense than your shield did was impressive. You didn't hesitate to reach out to the armor, equipping it in the same moment as you accepted it into your inventory. The armor definitely felt heavy, but you were surprised to find it didn't actually seem to limit your movement at all. Indeed, you had a full range of motion even as you moved in the loud and heavy metallic armor. Unsurprisingly, another window popped up as you equipped more of the set. Actually, many windows did, as you accepted every 'bind to self' warning for your new armor set.

The others had their own armor soon enough, all of you looking quite green at the end of it - the two Blessed Vessels resembled your armor, but slimmer with less overt and huge armor to their forms. The lighter samurai suit was much less in your face, but you could seen the syncretism in their creation. Lightning Hoof, meanwhile, wore a simple set of cloth armor underlaid with a light layer of kusari- chain mail - over her body, in the same green color as your armor. You almost missed the chain under the cloth, in fact. The other three didn't look much different at all - their robes replaced with green robes, small capes draping their shoulders, and a simple scholar's hat. Their sandals barely looked different at first glance. But everyone seemed to be equally equipped in terms of number of items, even if your armor was the most in your face of everyone's.

"Doubled my intelligence." Kitan laughed as he said that. He seemed very excited for the new armor.

"Mana regeneration and cooldown reductions!" Fluffy seemed quite pleased as well, the two bonding for a brief moment over their happiness regarding the new robe-set they received.

"I thought the skill bonuses would be cool... but this armor is way better than any of that." Satoshi scratched his cheek as he stared into the blank air - clearly thinking about what he was reading on the menu only he could see.

"I didn't even know you could wear anything like that." Lightning Hoof was the only one who didn't seem elated about her new armor. She seemed happy enough, but she was looking at you curiously, "Aren't you a priest?"

"Apparently uh, priests can wear armor if they try really hard." You shrugged your shoulders. You didn't know much about the story justification of it, besides the little blurb the heavy armor skill gave you, "I thought it'd be useful, since I'm always standing in front."

"The Adamantine Order are widely respected even by children of other Protectors. They're a bit odd for Tigers, but that makes us like them all the more." Raji chimed in for that, as he looked on proudly at you in your new armor representing his town. He seemed like he might almost shed a tear over how touched he was, "Few in numbers, but an unbreakable wall. It's not a bad choice to pursue, with what Momo said of you, Hita-chan." The old man gave you a thumbs up. "You know, I think Akane-san had ties to someone in the order. You might speak to her about it, if you want to pursue that path. It's not easy to get a word in with one of them, without some sort of connection like that. "

"Oh, I mean..." You hadn't expected a quest out of nowhere just for picking to wear a certain kind of armor. But it wasn't a bad thing. The last hidden quest you found had led you to the Guards after all, "I think we have a lot more important things to take care of for now. I mean, like, with the supplies cut off and the undead and.... you know. Eeeeeverything. My advancement can totally wait until later, I think. But thanks Raji-san! You always know so much!"

The old Kirin scratched under his nose, "Oh hush. Just pick out whatever weapon you'd like. I think you kids might be right about there being more important things than hanging out with us old folk." He winked an eye.

You were torn as you wore your heavy armor. You looked over at the weapons that dotted the room... you had just increased your ability to call more weapons. But... you had just embraced being at the front. "I could pick a new sword... I can call two weapons now..." You clenched your fists... and you moved towards a large shield, the same color as your armor. It was as large as you, and unlike most of the equipment you had seen it clearly bore the mark of the Black Tortoise upon it, though only the small marking in the center created the bias in the armor. You supposed no one else would usually use something like this, besides a Tortoise.... but you liked it, "I'll take this huge shield. It'll be useful in keeping safe."

[Asahi Ultra-Heavy Tortoise-Shell Shield (Rare) (Heavy Shield)
The Tortoise-Shell Shield is a special form of shield used by Tortoise Warriors which allow them to hide their entire body behind it, much like a tortoise can hide within their armored shell. Unfortunately these heavy shields are far from easy to carry and maneuver with. This specific example is colored a deep forest green, but still bears the blessing of the Black Tortoise.

Defense: +110

You didn't gain any of the bonuses that your called weapons granted while they were summoned, but you weren't exactly sure how they worked. The skill description itself just said that it scaled off their stats, level, and your skill. Maybe this would give you a super extra tanky shield - and even if not, it'd be able to defend you better just by being larger and covering more.

"I'm taking a spear, duh." Lightning Hoof was no surprise, as her new longspear was summoned into hand and she stabbed it into the air.

"That longbow looks useful enough to me." Satoshi nodded as he grabbed his own weapon.

"Well I thiiiink I'll take~" Fluffy hmmed and hummed as she ran back and forth around the room, looking at every bladed weapon at least three times before she settled in on a nice middle of the road katana - something that wasn't too big and bulky, but also wasn't tiny like her little Wakizashi she used.

"Since we already received an alright Katana, I guess it would be prudent to take a bow... but I think I'll opt for the smaller one." Seto didn't take from the same area that Satoshi did, where the long bows that were many feet tall sat. Instead he grabbed a shortbow, and seemed quite pleased with it.

"Well, seeing as I can only use rods... I guess I'll take one of the ones focused on improving my ability to heal." He nodded as he stepped to the shelf that had a few different rods, taking one that looked the least... intimidating.

"Uhm, I uh. Already received a tome from miss Kuzu." You hadn't even noticed that the boy's book had changed. It looked the same to you at first glance. And second glance. Only at third glance did you notice that his tome seemed longer than before. Maybe?

You looked at the weapons and you opened up your call blade for a moment. You'd have to stick to just calling one, you supposed...

"Cheer up, Hita-hime~!" Fluffy got into your face, giggling as she did, "For the low low low lowlowlow cost of oooooone smile, I've got a gift for you~!" She fluttered her eyelashes at you, "A gift of a biiiiiiiiig sword! And not in the way that any dirty minded viewers might think I meant!" She giggled at her own joke. The katana she had just picked up materialized in front of you, a window popping up.

Fluffy leaned in very close, "No, seriously, I'm not taking no for an answer! I picked up a ranged spell, so I don't need to be in the front lines as much. So the least I can do is provide a weapon to replace me! Though I mean, if you wanna beg and plead and give me a kiss in retu-" Kitan had grabbed her by the ear and started to drag her off, "Waiwaiwait we haven't finished trading~!" She yelled in pain as she was physically dragged away from you.

"Omg, thank you sooo much Fluffy~!" You were excited by the free gift of a second quest reward weapon. Since the girl hadn't equipped it at all, apparently it hadn't bound to her. And now you had a very strong weapon to make use of. It wasn't quite the nodachi that you'd had your eyes on, with the long blade that looked like it would cause real damage... but you weren't one to look at a dono and demand more, "You're the beeeeest as always~!"

"Noooo, you're the beeesttt~!" She yelled it back as she was continually dragged off. Everyone, including Raji, seemed confused by the display. "I loooooveeee youuuu sooo muu-" The priest had dragged her around the corner by now but she was still yelling.

"I am never going to get used to this bullshit." Lightning Hoof broke the silence after thirty seconds of everyone staring.

"If you don't mind me asking," Raji interrupted after the Kirin's complaints brought sound back to the silent surroundings, "Do you have plans on what you intend to do next? We can't offer much more aid, but we can at least keep our eyes open."

"Oh, well, I mean I was thinking we'd just... head out east. Our guild found what we think is the source of the slime overload that's blocking supplies from coming in. But they can't really kill the boss yet. So I figured we should go help out, and like, make sure they can do it faster. Because you know, I think having supplies back through would be good. People can't really fight without food in their stomach."

"Oh that's excellent! I mean, the undead in the western forest are concerning, but perhaps if we can clear the eastern roads we could request aid from the castle for that." The man rubbed at the chin scratch he might have called a beard if you asked him, "I can see the wisdom there."

"Yeah~! It made sense to me. I mean, I also kinda wanna see what this boss is like! It'll be like, a good way to test how strong we are. Without... you know, risking making the undead stuff even stronger faster. But we should probably leave quickly! With this whole ceremony and all, I bet everyone' already up!"

Seto nodded with your decision, "People were starting to not be able to afford to eat again. And you do still have your promise of an extra reward to those who helped you find it. Perhaps beating this boss will provide you with something to provide them with."

Your eyes widened. It'd been five days since Ichi-nee reported their success to you. That was almost a full week. And even with how much you'd been paying them, if they were penny pinching every cent they'd still be running low by now. It's not like you'd kept them on reserve while you had nothing for them to do. "Oh crap! I forgot all about that! Okay guys, lets go gogo~ We're gonna go kill a boss!"

Kitan and Fluffy hadn't gotten far before Fluffy had knocked him off her, and you found the two brawling just outside the Guard House. While wearing robes emblazoned with the guard's symbol and the symbol of the town. Hyou and Kuga were watching them and shaking their head, laughing their old men laughs, "Oh I suppose some things will never change for them. Kids will be kids though, right Hyou?" The old tortoise was ribbing his friend.

"If I had a tenth their energy, I'd have already solved all the towns problems." The tiger laughed, "Youth sure is to be envied my friend."

"Oh I'm sooooo sorry for them!" You rushed in to break them apart, "Fluuufffyy Kiiiittan come on. We're gonna go fight the slime boss. And team up with the guild to do it! It's gonna be great! And you'll have pleeeentty of things to use all that energy on! C'mooon~!" You dragged them both as you moved away from the guard house, towards the barracks that had become the informal meeting ground for the people who stayed in tents and those who stayed in inns.

-----------

"Oh my! The guild master herself wishes to join us!" Zanba was so loud that everyone knew as soon as you told him, "Aha, but you will still fall behind my might!" He posed with his muscles flexed, grinning.

"I mean, more people's always welcome." Banyan shrugged. He had apparently taken the role of the main tank for much of this, mostly against his will, "I mean, I definitely don't mind at least. The faster the slimes die the less pain I have to go through. I'm getting tired of getting the crap kicked out of me."

"Ooh, I can show you how good I am at healing, Mr. Kitan!" Lotus seemed enthused about Kitan's presence. A little too enthused. You narrowed your eyes as she got a little too close to your fan.

But he didn't even seem to notice her. "With luck we will be able to make enough of a difference to turn loss into victory immediately. If not, I have hope we'll be done soon enough."

------------

It wasn't actually that far from town, the place where you had to go - within the second zone in the Slimed Forest. You were fairly certain you must have passed by it at least once while grinding out there... but it was hidden deep within tree roots that seemed impassible at first. Only after touching them did you realize they could easily be pushed out of the way and climbed through, leading to the portal that teleported you into a much more open and easily moved in location. The words [The Slime Realm] rushed past your head as you looked around the room you found yourself in. Everything around you was made of slime - furniture was made of slime, walls were made of slime, trees were made of slimes, a whole garden was made out of slime. But you could make out what was meant to be what even through that slime.

"This room's pretty safe." Lara patted your arm as you went on guard, your two floating weapons and your floating shield already called out and ready, "Once you open that door over there though, you end up with a ramp that heads downwards. That ramp leads to the Guardian Slimes. They're nasty little buggers. Don't underestimate them just because they look like slimes."

"And if you let too many get near each other they turn into Samurai Slimes, which are like, miniboss tier." Dank Tank nodded along with the older woman's explanation. "We can handle like, one of them without losses. It's a pain in the ass. But they drop good items."

Your group was... eclectic, to say the least. Every class was represented in your guild, and you had people young and old. Their gear was as eclectic as they were - but there was some theme to it now. Nearly everyone had something that looked to be made out of hardened slime. Dank Tank had his helmet, Banyan his shield, Lara an earring, Nyakko a pair of shoes, and more. Only one small group aside from your own looked almost normal, without pieces of slime utilized to fight. The five ghosts stood amongst them, two of them belonging to Dark Blade himself and three to other members of the guild.

"Well, that's good to know! Buuut... I think we should get started. Don't you?" You were excited to be back out fighting and gaining experience and gold and everything. You rushed to the doors and pushed them open. The ramp down was awkward to go down - you very nearly slid down it face first rather than walking down it, as you stepped into the slippery liquid. They had been fighting on this terrible terrain? The ramp itself was thin - with your three summons called out, there was no room for anyone to squeeze past you. You were the front of the group by far.

"Miss Hita you should let the tanks go in front!" Jez's voice carried to you, but you weren't really scared as you came to the opening to the next room. If the first room reminded you of a garden, this room reminded you of a very fancy greeting hall from some sort of historical drama. All eyes were on you. And by eyes, you meant a dozen slimes three times as large as the ones outside of the dungeon, that had almost humanoid forms holding up their massive slime-body heads. The Guardian Slimes looked awkward.

And then they disappeared into the slime on the floor. Your new Katana was the first to react as one resurfaced and tried to attack you from under your feet, as it turned itself and stabbed down into the goopy floor. A cry of pain.

"They can teleport anywhere that's slimy. Which is anywhere!" Nyakko called it out to you, "But they're reaaally dumb and will just attack whoever is closest. So let Banyan get cl-"

Her advice was cut off as Lightning Hoof dashed in. Her spear went through not just one or two reappearing slimes, but three as she sent it flying out of her hand. The new weapon pierced through them with a sound that reminded you of thunder, and the slime's forms exploded into dozens of pieces. Your experience bar went up by a fortieth of a level in an instant. "You guys are annoying the shit out of me. Either fight or shut up." Lightning Hoof called her spear back into her hand, glaring at the rest of the guild.

"Got your back." Satoshi said it as he sniped another one of the slimes that had made her the target, his arrow flying right past her thigh and burying itself in the slime. There was no hint that he'd used a skill to do so, but the slime once again broke apart in just a single hit.

"Huh. These guys seem reeeeally weak." You commented it as your naginata pierced one through its chest, the Katana rushing in to sever it from tip of head to bottom of... well, it didn't have toes. Another one died. Two more tried to hit you, but your massive shield blocked their attacks without it even responding. Your staff came down on one of them and stunned it for long enough that your naginata finished it off. "...You guys sure this place was hard?"

You looked back at the rest of your guild, a little confused. They'd made this out to be some big challenge that had to be tackled with a lot of planning. But you hadn't even taken a hit after rushing in.

"...It... gets worse?" Ali frowned as they watched your team of 'lower leveled' characters crush through the dungeon they had struggled with for days.

"Oh, well, we'll rely on your help!" You gave a big thumbs up.

-----

They weren't wrong. It did get harder. If the first room had twelve enemies, the second room had twenty four. Your guild mates were useful in handling the excess as you physically couldn't block all of them at once, but you once again found your team members were just making short work of the poor slimes. You felt extremely overprepared for this dungeon, your new weapons and armor and your upgraded skills tearing through its challenge.

The third room doubled the amount of enemies again, but the ones that were furthest away also started to fuse together while you dealt with the ones that rushed you. Except that you had more ranged attackers than melee ones in your group, and between Satoshi's piercing arrows, Seto's skirmishing and distracting by rushing in and shooting from closer range, Kitan's wide range aoe heal turned damaging firestorm, Lightning Hoof's thrown spear, and Fluffy launching claws of metal from her staff... not a single one of those fusions actually managed to succeed. You killed them too fast.

But while part of you wanted to lament the fact that you hadn't gotten to fight the slime samurai, your disappointment was overwhelmed with happiness as your naginata, your partner given to you by your dead parents (who didn't really exist but still!) glowed with a bright light as it finally reached a hundred experience. It had taken so long, and so many kills. But soon enough it came down into your hand... and as you looked at its stats, you had to give a little chuckle.

[Armory Priestess' Naginata of Youkai Destruction (Uncommon - Growth)
A growing naginata whose called spirit has feasted upon over two hundred youkai since it was first born into this world, fighting more dark manifestations of divinity than anything else. This blade has grown sharp with a holy power to continue its destructive path.

Damage: 44-81
Increases the effects of all Armory Priest buffs on weapon by 10%
Increases damage against Youkai class enemies by 50%]

"I guess we really did kill a lot of slimes, didn't we..." You laughed as you looked at the naginata that continued to float around you - its form had changed, the simple looking naginata now decorated with what looked to be the cores of multiple slimes. The blade itself had changed to be more jagged and dangerous looking as well.

"What the heck was that?" Everyone seemed some form of confused, as they looked at your weapon. But Lightning Hoof was the first to talk about it.

"Oh! I picked that too!" Hana spoke up for the very first time since you'd gotten into the dungeon raid, "I have a cool heirloom tome!" She held up her tome. It looked really normal...

"Oh yeah! I thought that one sounded lame. I chose the option to be closer to the Tortoise." DankTank rubbed the back of his head.

"Oh, I picked the one for high society. I kinda like... thought it'd matter more... But I haven't met any nobles yet.."

Soon enough everyone was talking about their background choices and what they picked. And you realized after a few moments that... you hadn't been given all of them. And some people hadn't been given the one you chose. It seems like there were more than what you picked. Some of them seemed cool, like starting with a whole extra weapon proficiency. One of them even apparently started with the option to pick up a mundane like cooking skill, but chose against it. That certainly would have been useful if people knew what was going to happen.

This is how little your guild was taking this raid seriously, with your groups frankly overpowered help. Even as you pushed open the fourth room and came face to face with your first slime samurai. These ones looked like full people, not half formed children with overly bulbous heads. They used actual weapons and had what looked like actual armor. And they moved quick - not teleporting, but just simply moving quick. Your katana blocked one slime katana, but the blade wrapped around it. Your shield had moved in place though, and the slime blade splattered against the huge shell-shield. Your naginata cut into the same one, and you barely brought up your staff to throw a second slime samurai's stab off course. It stabbed into your side.... but you only felt it a little. Your health dropped by less than five percent, with all your armor and your massive stats. Meanwhile the first slime samurai was recoiling from losing an entire arm to the youkai-murdering naginata that was glowing with Fluffy's buffs.

Another slime samurai met a very sad end as Lightning Hoof and Satoshi both landed ab low on it at the same moment, while Banyan used a shield to hold him off.

"How the hell did you guys used to handle these, if you could only fight one at a time?!" Lightning Hoof yelled it out as she rushed through to support you - her charge sent her directly at the one that had just stabbed you. And her spear glowed with white fight as she impaled it, burning it from the inside out. The bits she stabbed through sloughed off and it fell back, wounded but not dead.

"We would lure it back to the first room! Usually only one would follow!" With five healers your minor wound was gone quickly. But the guardian slimes that weren't worth paying attention to had rushed into the fray, and they were burning away at you. Their little acid fists did minimal damage, but it still hurt even through your armor. Even through the regeneration, and the long lasting aoe, and the blast of scorching fire that also healed you. Your naginata and Katana each carved one apart per hit. But your shield and your staff were busy fending off the samurai slime attacks.

It still wasn't the most difficult fight you'd ever had. It was easier than fighting against the stone golems had been, and soon enough all four of the samurai slimes and the dozen guardian slimes were all dead and gone.

"...Well... that's the last room." Banyan said it rubbing the back of his head. He pointed to the last doorway. It was grand, ornate, and reminded you of the entry way to a throne room. Indeed, each of these rooms had been like a different room in a palace. The garden. The welcoming chamber. The meal hall. The guard house. And now the post right outside of a throne room. This Slaimyo knew his aesthetics at least. "The boss beat us pretty handily last time we managed to lure these guys one by one and beat them. But uh. Wow, this was a lot easier."

You were sad you didn't get any dungeon discoverer buff, because you'd gotten a level and a third just through running through this dungeon once, even with this many people. Everyone else was leveling up twice as fast here, even as you did most of the work. Still, you were level twelve now, after sitting at level ten and three quarters for literally two weeks. You hadn't felt the need to assign your stats before now, but looking at the boss door you figured you might as well. You just had to figure out how to assign them.

Everyone was looking at you for a plan. Even Kitan was looking at you, after spending most of the dungeon not all that worried with making plans. "So..." You looked at the door. The boss had apparently wiped everyone out quickly. And they'd lost a lot of experience, gold, and gear durability from the death penalties in here. But it'd only been a couple hours and you were already here, without so much as a bit of exhaustion. The boss had apparently seemed doable until the number of adds completely overwhelmed your guild, as dozens of Guardian Slimes turned into Samurai Slimes, and attacked their back lines. Maybe you could solve that issue?

[x] 1. Tackle the boss immediately, with the main crew handling the boss and the guild members handling the adds.
[x] 2. Tackle the boss immediately, with the guild members handling the boss while your group handles the adds.
[x] 3. Tackle the boss immediately and have everyone besides you focus on the boss, while you work on distracting and killing adds.
[x] 4. Don't rush into the boss. If a couple hours got you to level twelve, you can probably hit fifteen quickly enough. Grind to fifteen for another skill first. Be safe about it.

Thanks Fluffy! You're the best!

Paladin has good stats for our heavy armor + swarm of weapons thing. People did priestblade before and it's not bad but I'm worried about the 0 in resistance there. Tanks need to not get CC'd.

My write in plan is the highly mobile DPS kill the adds extremely fast, before they can merge, and it seems those were the main threat. The slower tanks and buffers can then grind down the slime.

Thank you Fluffy.

Also, the surprise quest and such was a nice surprise.

if we're doing tanking for the group, we should get tanking stats.

I'll probably edit in a vote for how to handle the boss later.

[x] 5. Have Seto, Satoshi, Dark, and Lightning Hoof focus on the adds. Everyone else fights the boss.

Couple of hours of relatively safe training for the entire guild seems like time we can spend. and I can see the argument for making sure we put *something* in the offensive stats.

we want tank stats yeah, but remember that our weapons and skills scale off of all of our stats. We dont want to abandon them completely or our damage will drop off hard.

[X] 6. Hita solo-tanks the boss with healing support. Everyone else prioritizes adds first, but engages with the boss while adds are suppressed.

"I am never going to get used to this bullshit." Lightning Hoof broke the silence after thirty seconds of everyone staring.

Preach.

Having said that, our weird yet adorable parasocial groupie should be protected at all costs. Her feverent and slightly unnerving elevation should be rewarded.

As for stats... I'm sorta in favor of offense tbh. We just got a huge defensive boost after all.

Maybe an edit to this would be one or two of our main guys / DB's ghosts helping as needed assuming we're relatively over powered for the boss as we were the rest of the fighting so far.

The other guild members vs the boss seems like recipie for disaster.
