Panem Forever (A Hunger Games Quest)

-[X] District 12
--[X] AU: Switching sides at a crucial turning point in the Dark Days along with District 4, District 12 paid a heavy price for their betrayal but were rewarded by the Capitol after the end of the war, receiving much of the same privileges that the other loyalist districts enjoy. A post-war boom, and relocation from the increasingly crowded District 2 has resulted in the opening of many new mines, some of which provide iron and other metals for manufacturing in other districts. At the time of the 67th hunger games, District 12 has had 7 victors, 5 of which were volunteers.)
-[X] Male (Advantage in hand-to hand and melee combat.)
-[X] Poor (Better survival instincts, not as affected by starvation but less longevity)

-[X] District 7 – The lumber district and the third poorest district in Panem behind 11 and 12, it is also the largest in terms of landmass. Poor residents become lumberjacks at age 16 and are often familiar with how to heft an axe well before then. Richer residents craft exquisite furniture for the Capitolites and functional chairs, tables, and stools for shipment to the other districts. Rebel sentiment still smolders here and the peacekeepers watch diligently for any sign of dissent. Injuries and deaths are common in the district and the crippled are left to learn a new trade or die from starvation and exposure. Tributes from District 7 are known for being strong and capable and are often targeted by the careers.

-[X] District 3 – The district that provides computer systems, electronics and technicians for the Capitol. A great deal of research and development occurs here and District 3 scientists are under near 24/7 surveillance by Capitol colleagues and peacekeeper guards. Life in District 3 is highly structured, with rigorous academic training for the upper echelon of society while poorer residents occupy maintenance and service jobs. District 3 was one of the first districts to be recaptured and occupied by the Capitol in the Dark Days, granting them a technological edge over the rebels as the war progressed.

    [X] Knives Out
-[X] District 11 – The main agricultural district that provides fruits and vegetables for all of Panem in addition to cotton. District 11 is the largest district in Panem in terms of population and the second largest district by land area. Poverty is widespread with only a very small percentage of overseers and quota keepers being paid anything close to a living wage, so tesserae is often the only means of survival. Children start working the orchards and fields from a very young age and life expectancy hovers around thirty. Elders are greatly respected and supported by the meager contributions of their large families. The main supplier of manpower for the Rebellion in the Dark Days, the Capitol rules District 11 with an iron fist. No one has ever volunteered in District 11 and every reaping is as silent as the grave. It's the only form of defiance they are allowed. District 11 Tributes are often very capable, being able to cope with little food and having fair athletic ability from their work. They are also some of the first tributes to be hunted by the careers, both as a matter of strategy and because loyalist districts still hold a grudge against the stoutly Rebel district.
-[X] Female (Less prone to starvation, infection, and disease.)
-[X] Rich (Well fed and larger, more social skills.)

-[X] District 6 – The district that provides porters and manufactures vehicles for the Capitol. While conditions here are not as harsh as in District 8, there is also a morphling epidemic here as well and those who cannot find employment in the automotive and hovercraft factories often turn to crime to survive in the urban environment. Food is plentiful here for those who can afford it, however. The district is a terminus for several old-world rail lines and a lot of food shipments "fall off" train cars and the produce and meat is sold in thriving black markets. Being of strategic importance to both the Capitol and the Rebels in the Dark Days, residents are ambivalent towards the government, having seen atrocities committed by both sides.

-[X] The 11th Hunger Games (The beautiful and resourceful Mags Flanagan from District 4 won in an impressive display of survival skills and the use of a net trap based on the one on the fishing trawler she grew up on. This was the first games where such skills would come in handy, taking place in an outdoor arena instead of the old Capitol Coliseum which was bombed the previous year. These games were designed to last a week but ran to nearly two, which would become the standard. After slitting the throat of the trapped and infection-ridden tribute from District 2 in her only kill, she was declared the 2nd victor from District 4. She was loved for her beauty and merciful nature although some critics lampoon her as more of a pin up model than a victor. Her popularity was such that after her victory, the Capitol started the tradition of the Victory tour. She was also the first female victor and there is speculation that there may be more consideration given to girl tributes in the future.)

Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote and especially those folks who made up a plan! Another short update with some choices to decide your character's name and backstory is coming soon!

Character Creation II
What is your name?

[ ] Flint Sparrow
[ ] Alder Vale
[ ] Rowan Maas
[ ] Asher Brynby

There's never enough food to go around in 12 but it wasn't so bad, thanks to...

[ ] The Community Home, you didn't starve. (You had to take out four tesserae every year to keep the home running, but you didn't mind too much. there were plenty of seam brats with more slips in the reaping bowl. You were told that your pa died in a mining accident when you were just a babe and your ma had to give you to the home, unable to even support herself. You don't really blame her, whoever she is. You know the score.

Thanks to growing up in the Community Home, you've grown a thick skin and know how to fight to defend what little portions of food you get. When the weakest kids get their food stolen, you..

-[ ] Stick up for them. (You don't know why but you have the instinct to protect those weaker than you, always have. Besides, when they don't wither away and die from the hollows or sickness, you find that you have more than enough friends to watch your back.)

-[ ] Join in and take what you can. (It's just the way life is. The Capitol rules over the districts and the strong prey on the weak. You are many things, but you refuse to be weak and soft. You can't afford to be...not here.)

[ ] Your family, you didn't starve. (Your pa works long hours in the mines to provide for your family and your mom washes the Townies clothes to get a little extra. It's only this last year that you and your older Sister, Etta, had to take out tesserae because of the birth of the twins. Mom was too weak to produce milk and you needed the extra food to free up the money to buy some of the powdered stuff from town. There were six of you now...all in all, too many mouths to feed but you'll get by. You always have.)

When times are lean, you...

-[ ] Always make sure the little ones have what they need. (You've seen the kids in the Seam who have more hollow days than full ones, some of them are your age and only reach up to your shoulders. When a life in the mines is your only destiny, you can't bear to leave your siblings at a disadvantage. You're still growing too, of course, but you had other ways to earn a bit of money and fill your belly. The young'uns didn't.)

-[ ] Make sure you get what you need first. (How are you supposed to help the little ones when you're starving yourself? Etta and your parents always made sure you had enough to eat, and you've grown big and strong from not sharing with the others more than you had to. They know you'll defend them if they get in trouble, but they can't go running to you for everything. You look out for number one first.)

...

Almost everyone in District 12 has a hustle and folks start early if they've got large families or can only rely on the porridge from the Community Home for regular meals. You go to the Hob from time to time to trade...

[ ] Carvings and crafts. (An old miner taught to how to whittle and work with wood, you can make primitive flutes, little statues, totems, and sometimes folks ask for something special for gifts and the like. You like the work. It's calming. No one thinks twice about you carrying a knife with you and it's come in handy on occasion when some thought to steal your hard-earned coin.)

[ ] White Liquor. (When Old Hurna needed some young muscle to ward off thieves and drunkards who wanted some rotgut on "credit", you and a few other boys were quick to step up. You quickly learned the old bat's tricks and when she finally kicked the bucket, you and Ripper went into business for yourselves. You've gotten practiced at beating up those who can't pay and all the extra money from such a booming business means that you're one of the best fed Seam kids in the district.)

[ ] Meat. (Unlike some, you weren't daring enough to venture out beyond the fence-line but you're clever and know where to set traps and snares for rats, squirrels, and rabbits. Sae pays decent to put it in her stew that she started selling a few years back after her man died. She always throws in a bowl for good measure too.)

...

You weren't nothing special but one day at school, you had to write down what your greatest strength was. Normally, you'd brush off such a stupid question, but something made you think, really think about it. In the end, you said....

[ ] Courage (No one ever had to tell you to man up. You were always fearless and never backed down from a confrontation or fight, taking initiative whenever possible. You weren't no fool but if there was something that had to be done, you'd try your best, no matter the danger.)

[ ] Quick Wits (You could outsmart pretty much any one of the other Seam brats if you put your mind to it. You think long-term and are seldom caught by surprise. When you are confronted with a challenge though, it doesn't take you long to figure out the best approach to tackling it.)

[ ] Shrewdness (You know when it's time to fight and time to run, when to push for the better deal or take what you can get. You can read people and often know what they're about to do before they do it. Some folks think you're a rat but let them laugh, you'll still be around long after they've coughed up their last.)

...

It wasn't often between school and making coin to feed you and those that depend on you that you had any free time, but you've tried out different athletic disciplines after school, aware that being reaped for the games was always a possibility. You've found that you have a natural talent for...

[ ] Wrestling (Ever since you'd started training when you were 12, you'd never finished below third in your age group. You may not be as strong as the Townies, but you were quick and never hesitated to take advantage of every opening.)

[ ] Running. (You were one of the fastest kids in the district, outpacing all but the most dedicated of the track kids without even trying for the most part. You're proud to be quick and it's come in handy. Even when you've been outnumbered by bullies and thieves, you've been able to get away.)

[ ] Swimming. (The pool in the school complex was small and races seldom but you always feel at home in the water, going to the pool as often as you can. You find that it's helped your overall endurance and given you some muscle definition as well.)

2-HOUR MORATORIUM to allow for some discussion. This is the last char creation update before we get to the narrative, so get hyped! Vote in plan format!!

-[] The Community Home, you didn't starve.
--[ ] Stick up for them. (You don't know why but you have the instinct to protect those weaker than you, always have. Besides, when they don't wither away and die from the hollows or sickness, you find that you have more than enough friends to watch your back.)

An idea, if folks have thoughts well. I am here to talk about the plan.

Well here is my plan. Sorry I couldn't resist. Not completely sold on Quick Wits and Running but everything else I feel is the best.....Why is the rum always gone? XD

--[ ] Join in and take what you can. (It's just the way life is. The Capitol rules over the districts and the strong prey on the weak. You are many things, but you refuse to be weak and soft. You can't afford to be...not here.)
-[ ] Carvings and crafts. (An old miner taught to how to whittle and work with wood, you can make primitive flutes, little statues, totems, and sometimes folks ask for something special for gifts and the like. I liked the hunger games, but it was a bit slow at times, when Katniss was playing hide from the careers or tending to peeta. Even tho we are a seam rat, I want to take an active approach to fighting. Shrewdness lets our tribute better pick there fights, while carvings and crafts gives us familiarity with a knife and the skills to make tools out of wood if we can get our hands on a knife, and wrestling gives us familiarity with engaging stronger foes and going for for openings.

It's a very confrontational build, for a strong, confrontational character, which would be a fun twist to pull after allowing ourselves to be percieved as Weak by the Capital and other tributes. I want to go a bit off the beaten path with this.

I have zero investment in community home/ruthless options and will change them if people perfer.

Fair, my plan is more built around having a team to back the MC when he is young as well, as making sure he has back up.

Good early start before being pick for the Games yeah. Sorta why I picked my choices too but just not sure what skills he should have physically. Though it makes me curious what our guy can do with his knowledge of liquor in the games.

I do have a few ideas on that. After all, fire is a tool that has many uses. And liquor makes it better.

[] Plan Mr.Flint Sparrow
-[ ] Your family, you didn't starve.

--[ ] Always make sure the little ones have what they need. The young'uns didn't.)

the reason i think we should have a family is that flint would have a reason to survive and something to come Back to (assuming he goes to The 46th hunger games) A reason to fight, you know. Like a family that cares for him.

40 proof is good for molatov cocktails

Which I would not advise for forest arena.
Well we don't really know what the arena is gonna be like. And there are other uses for the liquor. And if we really need to use the molatov in the woods then its more likely gonna be something as a way to run away or try getting multiple people.
