Onmyodo Monogatari (Japanese Heian-era fantasy)

[X] Yes

[X]: Yeah, sure! I'd be happy to!
Do we want to mention if we'd bring Tomiko? Just incase this is Hana getting a chaperone for a date.

Update is upcoming. Just a small note though: Could people please not talk about Tomiko as a 'waifu'? I know it's mostly in jest, but, uh, it's a word with certain connotations and it's wierd seeing it applied to a 13 year old child, particularly a japanese one.

The twentyfirst!
You accept the invitation with a smile, and spend the rest of the day with Tomiko.

You join another poetry competition with her, which the other side wins, you eat peaches with her by the river, in the shade of a blooming willow, you play Kemari with her and Aiko, and fall on your ass to the girls' great enjoyment, and see Junpei play Go for candies with the other children his age - and you see him get beaten by Toichi, the younger boy you have to play with, who is apparently fairly good at Go? After that, Junpei storms off in a huff and stops playing.

You also go to the shrines, and make a small offering with Tomiko, as you're supposed to. You give an inkbrush, however, instead of the slightly more traditional offering - the priest at the Seimei shrine once told you that the god of that particular shrine, Tenjin, the deified version of a scholar from a century ago, enjoys those in particular, as well as peaches.

And, of course, you eat plenty of skewered chiken, sweet and savory pastries, and other festival foods, only to eventually return home with Tomiko and the others.

The next day, you wake up, and, as usual, you eat a small meal, write poetry, and study chinese, as you do every day; then go to your father's house, where you study under the watchful eye of Kamo no Hatsuo for about an hour before you're let off - there are still festivals, and your father, as well as Kamo no Hatsuo, have important things to do, and so they let you do what you want - which is going to the river, like you promised! You have plenty of time, though. More than enough to get home to the palace and fetch a friend, if you want!

Do you invite a friend along? The boy, Akahito, said it was fine, and he seemed sincere.
[ ]: No! I just go alone, just me, Akahito and his sister.
[ ]: Yes! I ask Tomiko if she wants to join me!
[ ]: Yes! I ask Tsuzura if she wants to join me!
[ ]: Yes! I ask Aiko if she wants to join me!
[ ]: Yes! I ask Junpei if he wants to join me!
[ ]: Yes! I ask Toichi if he wants to join me!

I'm not sure which one is better. Maximum awkwardness or bringing a supernatural entity along? Of course, Tsuzura could use some more screen time. Desicions, desicions.

Strangely, I think this is one of the more contentious votes yet.

Well, Akahito is clearly trying to introduce Kogitsunemaru to his sister to help set them up, so clearly the polite thing to do is return the favor and introduced Akahito to an unattached (so far as we know) member of his circle. Also again we've really not done a whole lot with any of the other children around K and time is running down to do so I'd say.

On the other I also kind of want to see what happens with Tsuzura and anyway it's probably necessary in the end to decide between her or Tomiko.

Hi! for the record, I just want to mention that I'm in the middle of some exams right now, and so is my stressed out girlfriend. I should be able to work a bit on this Monday, but that all depends on how well I can describe Russellian monism over the weekend. You are not abandoned! just, uh, postponed while I make sure not to flunk logic and philosophy.

So, for the record, this is still happening. I got through my exams for now and I am working on an update, but, uh, I had a lot of stuff to do last month, so that's why the radio silence.

the 22nd
You go home to invite Tsuzura along. You find her at the lake as usual, and she smiles playfully as you approach.
"Hi!," you say, when you get close. "I've been invited along with some friends going to the river today to watch the shows there! Do you want to come along?"
At that, she raises an eyebrow, then nods. She sounds less confident than usual, however, when she responds. "Uh.. yes. That sounds like a… nice time."
You smile in response, and she follows you along as you go to the river - a long walk, perhaps half an hour - and you find your friends, or at least acquaintances, Hana and Akihito. You introduce Tsuzura, who bows awkwardly, stiffly. She's usually otherwise graceful and natural-seeming? In any case, she greets the two siblings, who greet her back. The four of you spend your time on the bank of the river, in the shade of peach trees with peaches that are still just a bit unripe, yet. In a month or two they will be perfect.

On the boats, you see shows being performed, theater and poetry and music. Akahito even pulls out a flute and plays, and Hana simply jokes around - she seems to have a very strong sense of humor, and she certainly appreciates it when she makes you laugh!
All in all, you spend your day in good, if new, company. You quickly warm up to each other, even Tsuzura remains a bit… Awkward. She's late to laugh at jokes, responds to minor compliments by getting all flustered, and generally doesn't seem to know how to compose herself? She seems to enjoy Akahito's music, however, and at your encouragement, she even sings and dances to it. You don't recognize the song, and the words are very old-sounding, but she sings really well and dances just as well, too! In fact, she does both of those things really well. There's something about her singing and dancing that makes you just want to watch and listen forever. It even feels like she makes Akahito, already a fine flutist for his age, play even better. It's not irresistible or even really much more than the enjoyment of listening to good music, but there is… something, there. Eventually, the song comes to an end and she stops dancing, and it strikes you how gracefully she turns and stops. For a moment she smiles and gives Akahito a short bow. For a moment, she seems graceful, comfortable, the stiffness and awkwardness gone. It returns soon enough afterward as you and Hana clap and cheer on her, but afterward, she seems… well, still awkward, if slightly less so.

You spend the day and evening with your new friends, and you promise to join them next time if you can - a polite gesture more than a concrete promise, really. As you part with Akahito and Hana, Tsuzura turns to you and speaks, somewhat... Urgently. It's clearly important to her.
"If you go see them again," she says, looking you straight in the eye. "Please bring me too? I enjoyed this… outing." She looks at you with almost pleading eyes. There's a hint of… something in her voice. You can't quite place it. Anticipation, perhaps? Or worry? Fear of rejection? Nervous Hope? It's unclear.

Do you promise to bring her with you?
[ ]Yes, and I mean it
[ ]Yes, but I'm just being polite.
[ ]No

Now and then, over the next months and years, Hana and Akahito invite you along for similar outings. Do you go?

[ ] Yes, often!
[ ] Yes, now and then
[ ] Yes, once or twice perhaps
[ ] No, i have no interest.

[X] Ask Tsuzura is she'd like to accompany you to other outings as well.

[ ] Yes, of course!
[ ] No, i don't think that's a good idea.
[ ] Yes, but only rarely

You may ask Tsuzura and your new friends questions.
Also, uh, planned to start up again with a long time skip, but it's taking some time so I'll start you off with the first part of it.

Seems like a lovely time was had by all, and I'm sure there's nothing to be concerned about with Tsuzura who is definitely not a kitsune or oni or yokai of any kind.

Don't see a reason not to.
