IMPORTANT RULLING:So new rule when socializing you can only use a single skill only once per turn so Occult is only able to be used once and so on. You can still use other skills that turn.
For those asking about the vampire comment they exist in one peice though unlike some kinds of Long that are more like what vampires are described as here they are another tribe of living being. Still need that delicous red goodness.
Seagear went looking for Nellie, he talked with some people and found her in town, sitting on the edge of the stone fountain, Seagear walked to her and sat down.
"So your here and you didnt bring any of your friends good." She set her camera down and pulled out a writing pad.
"I wanted to talk to you about your big scoop."
"I thought so."
"I think this isn't a big enough scoop for you in fact I am certain i can give you a much bigger one. The journey of a magic using pirate."
Seagear led her into the wastes of Graveview the wastes were simply some graveyards no one tended to so the spirits were a lot more ornery here without needing to go underground which would spook her if she thought he was going to gang up on her.
"So you brought me here is this where you reveal your a vampire and bite my neck?"
"No and I didn't want to drag you underground but here I can show you something you don't see everyday." Seagear in fact does see ghosts every single day, but she wouldn't. He didn't need to perform a Ritual here, by the look on her face that creeping sight she was feeling something which made since beacuse a Spector had put his hands close to her neck but Seagear just stared and the long dead clown stoped, his face pale permanently either from his paints or death's grip.
"If you see anything here don't worry I'll protect you they won't mess with me."
"And they would be? Who exactly?" If she couldn't see them he'd need to ask.
"I don't suppose you guys could give her sign, you don't have to scar here just-"
Nellie shook her head,
"I…..feel it, smell it in the air, this isn't a trick you can really talk to ghosts can't you? Your not just crazy."
"What the heck is that!?" Appearing before her though Seagear had long seen it was a Spector taking in the wind into itself the wind forming into a twisting head of hair with whirling spirals for eyes. This was a problem it wasn't supposed to be able to manifest so clearly, had the wall really been licked so thin he thought?
"She wasn't supposed to manifest so clearly that's not a good sign." Nellie however on instinct had flashed her camera and ran, Seagear was caught up in that he didn't like it one bit but when he got his senses the Spectors manifestation was done.
"Too far guys."
"Are you kidding me that was to die for." Chuckles the ghost clown said to groans.
Seagear found her looking over her camera, the picture taken was that of an eyeless women. He recognized her seen her spirit around a bit of a bitch.
"Alright I admit it I never saw anything like that, way bigger then Tom's Ritural so how'd you do it?"
"I didn't they did it themselves, I can call Wraiths but that's a Ritural and it takes time."
"That was a lot."
"I seen far worse but yeah things are getting a little weirder around here, still I wanted to talk to you."
"You gave me enough evidence I believe you. But you said there was a bigger scoop about a Pirate I'm guessing you meant yourself."
"How'd you-
"I'm really good at listening to people so your going on the seas gonna fight ghost ships?"
"No not exactly but I'm planning on pursuing magic much more then I could here and I need a crew to do that so I thought you could join me, you could use my journey as fuel for your stories."
"You know I'd have to become a pirate."
"You could try to hide it for as long as you can, but yes bit unavoidable."
"Be your ghost reporter hmmm just so you know I want to rise up in the world news but….it's an option I suppose. I'll have to put down some rules but...look I'll think about it, I have a week left till I'd need to leave."
"That's all I ask thank you.
Seagear knew he needed someone on his crew with muscle preferably quite a few but now he needed to start out with one
Scotty was the biggest of the students at least when muscle mass was considered, he despite being a early adult was built like one of natures shovels a strong if sharp chin which if he fell on you could possibly cut, a thin intelligence in his head which could be better suited to be a policeman then a pirate if only for using rules as an excuse to bully others. In the same way Seagear uses his medical skills in place of unarmed combat Scotty used his athletics in place of a personality. Still he had his use.
Scotty was on a crate reading a book of all though once he got a closer look ah a comic specifically a compilation of Sora, Warrior of the Sea
"Watcha want Seagills? You wanna drag me into your spat with the old fat man." He says looking at the comic with a wide monkey like smile.
"I wanted to talk to you about dreams? Are you seriously gonna stay here listen to Longer Tom it seems like you aint getting what you want here, have you ever considered that you could learn more of the occult from me then him?" He listened to this for a bit and nodded for him to continue.
"If you wanted to actually enjoy life like the way you wanted you'd need real power and Tom will never teach you that."
"Gotta a point there all right I'd need to be stronger and he aint gonna teach me shit but and this is a thought why'd I start following you into being a pirate that makes no sense!?" Seagear was taken aback but before he could respond Slackjaw put a hand in front of him.
"Let me stop you right there paley." He said setting his comic down and getting off the crate.
"Look I don't know what you doing with getting the runt to join you, ya I heard and you gonna end up ground down your smart real smart so don't be stupid if you become the government will eat ya alive." Well he clearly heard and listened more then he expected.
"Look here's some free advice either throw away being a pirate or become the strongest man you can and right now I could take ya." He might be right is the worst part.
"Scotty I could show you a lot more power then what Tom could, my skills surpass his-
"Maybe but he can order people around you can't. You aint got 'it'" He said taking his comic and walking off though he had a thoughtful look on his face so that was something.
Scotty had got something right Seagear wasn't physically strong enough to take on the world government add in he needed a stronger ability to wield people and know how they react, he decided then and there that's what he would worked on
It admittingly look some time practicing with Young Jack and the other boys, observing them. Slackjaw seemed different he seemed to be considering something Seagear tried to approach him about being a pirate again but that ended up a stong 'No' and some mocking. While he was practicing in town he saw Nellie who waves.
"The answer is yes." A shopkeeper hearing this smiled.
"Oh I'm glad congratulations my-
"We are not married!!?"
Surprising enough Odare's full and legal name really was Laughing Odare, clearly he had some parents who made some interesting assumptions, the man himself lived up to that name he was old and going grey but mostly still black haired but deeply tanned and built like a brick house, he is often seen casually carrying his wife on his back who is in fact a mermaid so not the average old man. She was currently not literally watching his back thankfully.
Seagear decided to take this slower and assisted him with some fishing and some small talk for the next few weeks asking some questions when he decided to throw the big hook.
"So how would someone start becoming a pirate?"
"Being dragged on board and held at gun point typically." he said as he cast his hook into the sea and then took a breath.
"Why you asking something like that for?" He stared at seagear.
"I have my goals I want to accomplish and frankly I can't do that as a marine or on this island."
"Alright I get what you mean. The way I see it there are two different ways someone can start either joining a well established crew which wants permanent members or being a hanger on for a lesser crew,"
"Course you got everyone talking about the pirate king and his treasure so everyone and their mother is gonna try it out if their lucky they will get burned out before they burned their bridges."
"You think it's a bad idea then?" Odare shakes his head.
"Listen kid being a pirate means waking up everyday on a matchbox with worm infested biscuits and rice old as sin. But I don't regret it not one single bit and do you know why?"
"Beacuse it was fun nothing more exciting in the whole world and when your young and dumb its a great way to live. I miss it but those days are long gone."
Eventually on another day they got on the topic of the seas
"Tell me about the Grandline is it as dangerous as people say?"
"You assume I'd be crazy enough to ever step foot in that hell of a sea." Odare says but but that smile oh that smile.
"But you have heard about it? I'm sure you can tell me something."
"No your right, the grandline is a monster it does make sense just its own twisted kind there aren't seasons there not that follow any pattern islands can be summer, winter, spring or fall almost all the time and still have individual seasons."
"I never went to the grand line but we were mad enough without it still if you think that's the life you want the only correct way is reverse mountain." He said that and yet there was clearly more there.
"What about the Calm Belts?"
"Oh sure you could row but it's infested with Sea Kings and they can sense a change in the waves, for any crew it's about impossible to get threw and survive."
"As for the grand line I know this, if you plan on going there you'll need a hell of a navigator and something called a Log Post."
"What's a log pose some sort of compass?"
"Correct it's a compress that can navigate threw those waters course you'd need to go somewhere special to guarantee getting one."
"If your set on it go to an island in the western half of the North Blue its called Port Renowned you'll find shipwrights a plenty and you'll find log posts both normal and ones meant to lead to specific island there I'm certain of it."
"Thank you Odare I appreciate it."
"Be certain you want it. But your welcome though you got nothing from me you hear." He gave a rather big wink which his wife coughed at.
