Now That You Are Pure 32
[X] That is very specific but strangely hurtful.

"That is very specific but strangely hurtful."

There is a strangled snicker from Fincher. She tries to turn it into a cough, with limited success. Mei glares at her briefly before directing her attention back to you.

MEI: "Fincher, I forbid you to interact with this person. Do not talk to her. Avoid her where you can. That is an order."

Fincher glances at you.

MEI: "Why are you looking at her, Fincher?"

FINCHER: "I... understood, dragonlord."

Mei looks back to her. Her tone softens just a little.

MEI: "You're dead on your feet, talon. Go get cleaned up and take the rest of the day to sleep. I'll need you tomorrow."

Fincher looks like she's about to say something else, either to you or Mei, but just salutes and backs out of the pavillion.

MEI: "Now... where were we? Oh yes, I was telling you to go fuck yourself."

[ ] I don't even know what I did.
[ ] Why are you taking this out on Fincher?
[ ] Could you at least tell me who I am?
[ ] Actually you were telling Logris to go fuck herself.
[ ] Well, now I kind of want to fight you.

A huge number of decisions made have already been at least mildly tremendously bad ideas. There's no reason to hold back now, right?
In my experience it's best to save the tremendously bad ideas for when you're already in a bad spot. Right away, bam: you'll have a new, different problem to deal with.

[X] Actually you were telling Logris to go fuck herself.

If we were being precise with how words were originally being directed.

[X] "I'm right here and ready any time, Dragonlord."

this is it, the worst decision i could possibly imagine

Reminder to newcomers that this quest is unusual in that the very first responder to any vote that isn't consequential is the one we go with - subsequent votes don't do anything unless the decision explicitly says 'hey this is important'.

[X] Could you at least tell me who I am?

"Could you at least tell me who I am?"

MEI: "I thought you were Tenebrous Silken Vesper."

"That is my excellent name, yes. I was hoping for some more specifics to fill things out."

MEI: "Listen to me. I don't know what you're trying to pull, or why, but I'm not going to help you. The legion is not going to help you. I am done with you."

LOGRIS: "Dragonlord, please. There must be something that can be done."

[ ] What if I were to give you an order?
[ ] What if I were to win a duel?
[ ] What if I were to beg?
[ ] What if I just left?

[X] What if I were to give you an order?
...I was gonna say that's a bad idea but honestly, 'help out a magistrate in need of assistance' isn't even all that out there, we're not asking something unreasonable. It'll probably anger her but she can't go too overboard in front of her peers because that'd actually be disobeying.

Edit: Winning a duel would have been too confrontative, she practically wants that excuse to kill us (and Fincher already stated she thinks you're no match for her, lets not risk that). And begging is the wrong thing to do when someone already hates your guts - let alone how you're a magistrate and your actions reflect on the Empress' trust of you. It was the order or the leaving.

I do wonder what sort-of stupidity we did before becoming Disco Elysiumed.

Because from the way our nominal colleagues are acting it is something infinitely worse than what Harry did.

To say nothing of what the sun had to say...
(XXVI) THE SUN: I AM THE BETTER YOU. I AM THE YOU WHO NEVER FAILED.

(XXVI) THE SUN: I AM THE ONE WHO NEVER COMPROMISED, THE ONE WHO NEVER RAN.

(XXVI) THE SUN: I DID NOT DRAG MY FRIENDS INTO MY TORMENT OR ABANDON THEM IN SHAME.

(XXVI) THE SUN: I DID NOT LIE TO, OR BETRAY, OR KILL THOSE I LOVED. I AM THE ONE SHE NEVER LEFT.

(XXVI) THE SUN: I NEVER LOST FAITH.

(XXVI) THE SUN: I AM YOU. BUT YOU WILL NEVER BE ME.

[X] What if I were to give you an order?

"What if I were to give you an order?"

EMBASSY: The legions, ministries and magistracy are all part of the Imperal Service. Technically all branches of the bureaucracy are obliged to accept your commands. In practice, however, your authority is rather hazy when you aren't in a position to back it up.

EMBASSY: DIFFICULT

CHECK PASSES

EMBASSY: Also, technically speaking a magistrate can only make ex imperium dictates when they can be recorded by a sanctioned scribe for the purposes of review by the deliberative. You don't seem to have one of those. Hopefully nobody else knows about this rule.

Wait, so I actually have no legal authority here at all?

EMBASSY: Not really! But most people assume that magistrates can do whatever they want, and that is an authority of its own.

You fish out the imperial seal an show it to Mei to emphasize your point.

MEI: "What, you're going to call me a traitor if I refuse to answer your questions, is that it?"

"Well, I didn't think as far ahead as the consequences of not following the order, honestly. Maybe removing you from command?"

MEI: "I think I'd consider that a provocation. I think I'd say fuck you again and take my chances."

PRESENCE: All this rage. Is she trying to provoke you into a fight?

INTEGRITY: There's a falseness to it. She's trying to keep a hold of the anger. She doesn't know what she would be without it.

[ ] I need your help. I don't know what to do.
[ ] Should I start guessing about what I did to you?
[ ] You want to fight me, don't you?
[ ] Fuck this, I don't need you.

[X] Should I start guessing about what I did to you?

As a separate clause, what do we think the numbers associated with eh headspace mean? I mean the sun is somewhat obvious as being in some way related to Ignis Divine and his concept of righteousness. What do we think the others seen so far are rooted in?

I'm inclined to think Broken25 is right and she's our ex in the same way Jean Vicquemare is Tequila Sunset's ex. Ex-partner who pretends not to have feelings and holds on to anger because it's better than feeling sad and empty.
