Cost: 100 DC: 30 Reward: You meet the Tenants who live in your building.
-[X] Spread the word: You have free rooms and a new PR rep, maybe it's time to let Night City know what you offer….. That is rooms with (mostly) running water and electricity. Cost: 100 DC: 25/50/75 Reward: You get new tenants and increase rent revenue
-[X] Hiring Drive: It's not something that's easy to get your head around but Mega building 10 is yours now (well 25% of it is). -[X]Meet the Tennents (The Residents): You are going to meet the Tenants who Rent the Residential Apartments. Cost: 100 DC: 30 Reward: You meet the Tenants who live in your building. Rolled: D100 => 86+18=114

It was illegal for the building to have a tenant committee, mostly because of Night City's insane anti… well anything collectivist laws. That did not mean that the so-called representatives for each floor were bad, far from it. It in fact made things very easy for you and Leila to actually understand the Grievances and the problems going on through the building, without having to hear every single complaint from the over twenty thousand residents that lived there.

But the thing that made you most happy about it was how welcoming those crazy bastards were. Apparently, you were the only owner of the building that they have seen, who not only lives in the Mega building but also actually bothered to check in on the place since Pappy died.

The inmates ran the asylum, so to speak. And for all the talk of how good the place was being run, you wondered how the hell the other owners of the building never caught onto the fact that there was such a group as crazy dedicated to defending their homes from gangsters, corrupt cops, and corpo rats, then this lot.

Like really, they were a real community in this place, one that was proud to call themselves tenants in your building.

As long as you didn't fuck them over.

Their words, not yours.

But they came you asking for help fixing problems they were not legally allowed to fix. Water was becoming quite an issue, especially when the City was cutting back on water purification expenses in certain areas. Especially places like Watson, where heavy gang activity was hampering NCPD's ability to stop them.

So they decide to force them out, by driving them to thirst.

Jack had been making filters for everyone so they could purify their water, and so they could stock up on bottles of pure water to drink. But it was not going to be enough.

There was also the problem of… Rats.

Particularly the large kind that were roaming the basement. Two kids were already mauled.

And there was a shortage of medicine in the five clinics in the building. Their shipments were getting robbed. And there was this mad ripper that was funneling those meds through his business. Charging a shit load.

All in all, it could be better. But it could be worse.

Reward: The Tennants have been met.

Relationship set to 85/100.

Leila looked uncomfortable in the suit she wore. Even though you found yourself enjoying the view of it. She was well put together, and the corpo suit that Mekenzie had was perfect on her. Hung on all her curves, was functional, and left just that much to the imagination that maybe some people "Fuck this, I look like a corporat." She said, clawing at the skirt. "I can't believe you talked me into this."

"All we need to do is look professional, and not fuck up a simple commercial. Is that too much to ask?" You replied as you drowned a shot of tequila. "And after we're done, we can turn that thing into tiny cinders, or donate it to Jack's uniform material fund."

"That kid is so weird. What the hell are old clothes going to do for him?" She asked.

"I don't know, but considering the fact that he wants it, I'm inclined to give it to him. Now smile for the camera, and try to not sound like you want to shoot yourself." You groaned as you got the camera pointed at her.

"If I'm going to shoot anyone, it's going to be you." She growled.

"Well if you're going to shoot me, get it on camera, it might help the scared soccer mom who wants to know her kids will be safe here demographic." You replied.

"What the fucks a soccer mom?" Leila said, confused at what you said

"Old 20th century expression for really out of touch housewives, now get ready." You ordered. "And Action."

Almost immediately, Leila's demeanor changed, to that of a pure actress, and she wore that winning smile like she owned the whole fucking place.

"Welcome to Mega building Ten, where the gateway to your future is secured.
In our luxurious apartments, you will find ample space, both for yourself and your family, with a skyline view to die for. We promise you the best of care, with our twenty-four-hour maintenance crews being available 24-7 for any of your needs.

And for the low cost of only 400 eddies a month? You can afford it all even without that fancy Corpo Job that the kids are talking about?

What are you waiting for, call the number below and you can speak to our representative today, to start afresh tomorrow."

"And cut!" You shouted, feeling proud you were not rusty as a cameraman.

Leila for her part flipped you the bird. "Fuck you, I'm burning this shit!" She started to go towards her room. "Stupid bastard making me dress up like some corp slave."

She was hot when she was angry.

But you had what you needed, and now, you just needed to wait and look at the new people coming in.

Twenty-five minutes was all it took. Turns out, you checked all the boxes for everyone and their mother to try and get into an apartment.

And dear god, were you going to choose to be picky with the new clientele

You mostly went after families, married people with children, who were more stable in income, and less likely to invite the gaze of Arasaka. So nominally Night Corp or Biotechnicha, or some workers that lived nearby, and even a Solo who was looking to retire after a short career in the underground. They would bring some attention, but you were sure that you could handle that.

You were a businessman, after all, conducting business.

Reward: You fill up all the empty rooms that you were hosting.

A Semi Legendary Solo has taken up residence in the building with his family and is hoping to spend a nice retirement in the city.

+8000 Eddies in Income per turn.

Syliva looked rather happy to see the group of chromed-out chooms, well more happy to see one in particular. "George you old pirate, nice to see you answered my calls!"

The now named George gave a smile as he took her hand. "When you said you were working in Night City, with a steady job that could get us out of the shit hole in Colombia? How could we refuse!?"

"Corpo cunts holding your leash?" Sylvia replied a smirk on her face.

There was a long chuckle from the merc, as he twirled his iron. "Nah, didn't last very long alone in the jungle. We said he died from an ambush. Got a bit of his bank account as a result."

"Oh, now that is a story I would like to hear." She said.

"Later, who is this choom who hired you?" He asked.

You cleared your throat. "That's me."

Sylvia laughed. "He is what is called a landlord for a mega building."

You frowned. "I think they don't need to be fed bullshit."

"Nonsense, these guys are ex Militech Commandos, rangers who hiding in the jungle more than the city." She replied. "But the Urban Jungle is just as dangerous and they are just as skilled at keeping a fortified position safe.."

"Yeah, Sylvia, giving my company a glowing review," George replied. "But seriously, we're sick and tired of Corpo cash we can't use because Militech wants to consume us in their ever-growing desire for American Neo Imperialism." He took a breath. "We're tired of fighting their wars. Besides, when you called, with just an easy job of protecting a building? How could we say no?"

"You won't be paid as much by me, than Militech." You replied. "Couple thousand Eddies at most."

"It's not about the money for us, not all the time." George replied. "Just being able to make something safe for our families is enough."

"We have hot water in the building, and the drinking water is mostly safe, and you guys will get your own room for weapons and equipment." You stated.

"Now you're just sweetening the deal," George stated. "Christ Sylvia, did you put a leash on him?"

"This cat's a media that went up against Biotechnicha and Araska, he's got balls of steel." She stated. "And not the chromed out kind. They are all-natural."

You found yourself smiling at the innuendo. "Well now, do we have a deal?"

"One thing to ask, only… Arasaka, you fuck with them?" George asked.

"On occasion. Whenever it is wrong that needs to be seen, to be righted." You replied.

"Good, then consider us hired." He replied.

"I hope you don't mind doing one quick thing firs before you start setting up your hardpoints." You stated.

"What is it?" George asked.

Reward:

George Mcloud and Outlaw Security Firm have been hired. All Attacks on your building gain a +25 in their defense rolls.

When on the offensive, gain a +25.

(Gain 25 Mercs of Veteran Quality.)

"Rats can get this big!" George shouted as he poked the still twitching corpse.

"Yes." You replied as you used an electrical outlet's loose wiring to electrocute one. "That's why I wanted to deal with this."

"It took a .50 caliber from an LMG, and it still kept moving! These things aren't natural!"

You frowned. "No shit. See any identifying marks?"

"Yeah, it's got Biotechnicha written all over their brains, look at all that biochroom... what the fuck are they doing here!?"

"Testing ground or they escaped. Can't really know in this city." You replied. "But I have a few guesses."

Reward: Giant rats dealt with for now, your going to need to find the nest and burn them all out.

-[X]Repair the Building (The Reactor): During the first half of the 21st century, there was the whole nuclear craze going around… bombs, missiles the like. No one thought to make a reactor power one of the buildings. Well, Richard Night did and now, almost 80 years later… you need to check up on it. Cost 1000 DC:60 Reward: You see what is up with the Reactor. You didn't even know you had a reactor? Rolled: D100 => 98+10+16=114

Jack looked at the reactor as you walked in. "Is it safe?" You asked.

He was mesmerized by the tech. "This reactor core is self-repairing, there are nanobots going all through the system, and looking for any structural weaknesses to fix. This thing was built before nano technology was even available to the public… when it was in the prototype stage at best!"

"So it's safe?" You asked.

"This thing isn't just safe, it's a fusion reactor. That can't be destroyed!" He was ecstatic. "The implications of the technology that Richard Night had, what Night Corp has now that no one knows about."

You looked at it. "Will it blow up the building?"

"No. The hard point to protect this structure is hardened, and I think this thing can survive a nuke. Hell with how this looks, it might have survived Silverhand's nuke." He paused. "I looked at the access logs and found this."

You saw the file, and you recognized the man himself, Johnny Silverhand, and a few techies in a radiation suit, building a bomb. "Holy shit, this is where Johnny got the materials to build his nuke! He didn't even have to leave the city." You than looked at Jack. "Uh, how many other reactors are in the city?"

"One for every megabuilding. They can power the entire North American Continent Twice, but… heres the thing, all the power is getting siphoned off."

"By who?" You asked.

"I don't know." Jack replied, sounding a bit scared. "Ai's from beyond the Blackwall?

As a Netrunner, you shivered at the thought. "Leave it alone for right now, I don't want you to get killed for snooping."

"But what if it is an AI?" Jack asked.

"It hasn't killed anyone yet, so maybe we can make it pay rent." You stated.

Reward: The Reactor is safe, but you learned that the power it's generating, the majority of it anyway, is being siphoned off to someplace else.

-[X]Repair the Building: (Plumbing): The most important thing about the building is that it has a safe place to go to the bathroom, and relieve oneself. While there are bathrooms that non tenants have to pay for (A Measly 1 Eddie, a bargain considering where you live) when they are not in a tenants rooms. You also know that it can become a problem… it shall not be a problem Cost 600 DC:40 Reward: You take a look at the Plumbing. Maybe it isn't full of shit? Rolled:D100 => 73+16

You weren't expecting the plumbing to be in great shape when you hired the contractors to take a look at the plumbing within the building and tunnels beneath, the place was probably full of shit and other unmentionables from decades of neglect. Thankfully the morning inspection of the pipes in the building went well, apparently building codes back when the place was built included stipulations for autonomous self-cleaning to occur at regular intervals by running pressurized boiling water through the pipes. Meaning that your plumbing in the building itself was in great condition.

The inspection of the sewers beneath your building on the other hand….. From the horrified looks in the eyes of your contractors, it didn't go well. In fact, weren't there four of them this morning?

The decades of abuse by Night City and patchwork solutions combined with the number of inhabitants in your building had created numerous blockages of waste in various places in the sewers under your building. These locations were ideal breeding grounds for pests and disease with some even developing their own ecosystems of mutated rats, cockroaches, other insects, and mold. You might need a team with flamethrowers for this job.

Reward: Plumbing in great condition, mutated rodents discovered in the sewer system (may create new and interesting diseases in your building if left unattended).
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-[X]Cyberpshcho's for Dummies: You are going to read about Cyber Psychosis... and try to learn more about how it can be treated... if it can. DC: 20 Reward: You begin preliminary research into Cyber Psychosis. Rolled: D100 => 38+12
The available research on Cyber Psychosis available to you was lacking, to say the least, with most being wild speculation on the cause of the condition. Some think it's caused when the body rejects cybernetics while others think it's to do with damaged or defective cyberware. Others believe it's a plague developed by the Lizardmen from Alpha Centauri (you're a bit skeptical about this theory).

What everyone does agree on is that the only cure for the condition is death. But as you dug deeper in the net you have come across whispers of experiments designed to induce cyber psychosis artificially through deliberate introduction of cybernetics without anesthesia and torture. Other leads speak of total lobotomization and replacement of the entire body. If this research exists, maybe it has come across the cure as well? The question is do you want to dig deeper? The people behind this kind of research would have zero qualms about eliminating you, or in the worst-case scenario acquire more test subjects…..

Reward: New actions available (more research may draw unwanted attention).

The Plans: Megabuilding 10 is an old building, maybe it's worth it to take a look at the original plans in case of any surprises….. Cost 25 DC:50 Reward: You gain information regarding the layout of the building? Rolled: D100 => 47+12

When you asked Jack to get you a copy of the building plans you had allowed your imagination to run wild. The Megabuilding was positively ancient after all, built during the reign of Richard Night himself. Surely there are some secrets and discoveries in it, right? Maybe the plans were a part of a vast conspiracy and you would have to outsmart a corp or some other shadowy group to get access before discovering some kind of pre-war treasure?

The reality was somewhat more disappointing, Jack called up the Night City zoning authorities and eddies you received a notarized digital copy of the plans after payment of €$199.99. Unfortunately, there was no treasure hidden in your building or any pre-war secrets to find, in fact, every single cubic meter of space was accounted for on the plans (apparently early Night City had really strict architectural codes).

But at least you did discover a few unused rooms that had been forgotten which can be renovated to accommodate more residents, an electrical grid allowing for the installation of automated turrets, and a few maintenance passages that can be used as escape routes in a pinch.

Rewards: Discover escape routes, unrenovated rooms, and automated defense installation points.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[X]Lay of the land: Having a Megabuilding is all well and good but it's also important to know what's going on within it. What backroom deals have been going on? What treasures have been hidden? What was the word on the street? Those were all questions that can be answered by keeping one's ear to the ground and a little bit of eavesdropping. (DC 55, set up a rumor mill). Rolled: D100 => 55+16

Your Megabuilding is a miniature city in and of itself with thousands of residents and rooms hidden away under the monolithic of concrete and steel. Being a media, you know that there is valuable information being whispered in the hallways and between the sheets. That's why you tasked Sergei with creating a network of informants to keep an ear out regarding the latest news in your little fiefdom.

But between Sergei's rather intimidating demeanor and the fact that the building's residents haven't exactly warmed up to you. The residents didn't have the jump at the chance to spill their secrets to you as much as you had hoped for. Sure some of your tenants were rather chatty but this month the most interesting tidbit was that the woman in unit 12B was having an affair with the guy across the hall. Nothing actionable (you checked one was a mechanic at a local shop and the other was a laborer) but there's always next month.

Rumor Mill created

-[X]To Find Truth: You are A Media, which means you dig up the dirty laundry that people don't want to be found. You like muckraking. Now you need to get into the fun. Let's piss someone off. Cost 0 DC: ??? Reward: You dig into the corps, the City, the Mayor, anyone you think is hiding the truth. And you will find it. (If you succeed, you will gain a d 10,000 eddies from the royalties of the news article. But if you fail, you may have some bad people after you.) Rolled: D100 => 90+16, D10000 => 6582

Any Night City resident would tell you that they trusted their politicians about as far as they could throw them (not very far considering Mayor Rhyne's weight). Everyone in Night City knows the politicians are corrupt but they are usually competent enough to at least hide what they were doing behind a veneer of legality. Well, that is until you came along.

After hiring your new employees last month you had asked Jack to snoop around a bit to see if there was anything you can use for a new article. You were a media after all and Night City's mayor had definitely had some skeletons in his closet, and you have certainly dug up a large skeleton.

As it turned out, while Sergei wasn't great at getting your tenants to open up to him but great at filtering out rumors to find the really interesting ones. Apparently, people from the slums in Heywood had been dropping like flies recently, so much so that even the NCPD had noticed. Normally people would have just written this off, after all, addicts and the poor dying was the norm not the exception in Night City. What with the gangs roaming around ready to tear someone apart for their mods and the various junkies pushing poorly cooked drugs. But the sheer amounts of deaths had resulted in a report being submitted to the NCPD and subsequently leaked on the net.

Receiving the tip from Sergei you dropped everything and set off to the slums to scope out the area. Not something you made a habit of doing but your instincts told you that something was going on here, something big. Your hopes had almost gone up in smoke when you arrived, sometime over the last week the tent city had gone up in flames and nothing was left except some burned bits of plastic and charred metal tent poles. But you were a media, and from your experience, a dead end like this usually indicates a coverup.

So you gritted your teeth and set out to find a witness or another lead that could help you get to the bottom of this whole thing. Luckily you managed to find a local vagrant after an hour of searching the nearby streets for any beggars and homeless. Which led to another two hours of being running around the city from one vagrant to another in an attempt to find some that were from the burned-out campsite.

Tired and frustrated you finally found the one man that was allegedly at the scene behind a fast food joint in Watson sitting against the wall seemingly high. However, as you walked closer you noticed a few things that proved the hypothesis wrong, the man was coughing in fits and had what appeared to be blood on his hand and near his mouth. In addition, his eyes were bloodshot and shrunken in and you could have sworn the left side of his face was rotting off.

Noticing your footsteps, the man flinches and fumbles in his pockets before bringing out a short knife and brandishing it in your direction. "Back the fuck up! You here to kill me as well? Well, FUCK YOU you corp....COUGH, Cough, cough…" The man shouts before breaking down in a fit of coughs.

"Calm down, calm down. I'm no corpo just a media looking into the fire at the Haywood slums. You aren't looking too good, you need a Ripperdoc at least." You say towards the vagrant in front of you.

"Media?" He repeats with a far-off look in his eye. "Hah, a ripper won't fix me."

"Still you need to see someone about that cough." You mention as you pull out a can of soda from your pocket and offer it forwards.

"Who? You think I can afford Trauma team?" The man hisses before taking a drink of the soda. "Listen, I'm dying just promise me you won't bury what I tell you instead of releasing it."

"Deal, I've got professional standards. Now, what do you know?" You ask as you insert a fresh shard into your neroport to take notes.

"Name's Adem, Adem Holland. I lived over in the slums next to the river. Last week, the water next to the bridge started to smell funny and people started getting sick. A few of us went over to the garbage disposal plant to see if they had anything to do with it, the security goons broke Jamie's arm for that. At first, some of us tried to help with what Maxdocs we could scrounge up but it was getting worse. By the end of the week… ten people had died coughing up blood and bleeding from their eyes." Adem manages to wheeze out between fits of coughing. "We fucking found a barrel with one of those biohazard signs on it floating in the river. Bobby gathered up a few guys that weren't too badly hurt and went back to the disposal plant, they didn't come back…."

"You weren't with them?" You ask as you furiously took notes.

"No, me and a few others ran after they didn't return. Saw the fire on the news, thought I could save myself… wished I did would have preferred it over this." Adem replies solemnly, his eyes gazing towards the distance.

"Thanks for the help, I'm gonna need to look into it to confirm everything. You sure I can take you somewhere or get you anything?" You ask Adem as you prepare to leave

"No, nowhere to go. Rippers don't help, Ken tried. Just release that story as you said, and do it quickly if you can. I wanna see it before I…" Adem trails off.

"I will, I swear."

"This is Gillean Jordan with Network 54 news, today Arasaka shares dipped 0.5% as reports surfaced that Arasaka Manufacturing has illegally dumped bio and chemical waste into Night City's water supply in Heywood. Arasaka has denied all accusations and has refused requests for questioning. In other news, are synth burritos making you depressed? Stay tuned for the answer."

Reward: News story regarding Arasaka dumping industrial waste into city's water supply published under an alias. Gain €$6582 from royalties, gain a +10 to future To Find Truth actions due to increased reputation. Arasaka gains +5 to all rolls due to wanting to find out who really fucked them over on the markets.

Arasaka Roll:D100 => 4

Arthur Jenkins was feeling a little down today. Perhaps not entirely because he was drugged, but he was quite clearly not enjoying the whole good cop bad cop thing that was going on.

Abernathy, the Bitch, was making all your hard work, and most notably, V, fall apart.

But V was still on side, at least at the moment. And that meant she made a mistake.

As long as he had V, he could get that Bitch killed.

Reward: It seems that there is a bit of corpo on Corpo killing going on inside Arasaka intel and counter-intel

(Hi V).

Maelstrom Roll:D100 => 89

The civil war was over, and Brick was the clear winner in the conflict.

Now he needed to cement his control in Watson.

And that meant that large mega building that was, so far, just out of control.

He would need to rally his men, and start to see just what this... Theodore guy was.

Reward: There is an attack imminent on the Megabuilding. Perhaps diplomacy may win. Perhaps it is time to strike first.

*Best Johnny Impression* ska's got to burn!

But yeah looks like we got so sweet rolls as well as a pretty hard core reactor to boot.

hey V still alive and making moves in corpo land so thats a thing

and the psyco brick want to make moves on our building? oh joy
well at least we got pro level security willing to back us up, so that nice

also what kind of tricked out weirdo building we running here because nanoteck repair stuff, and a power station that maybe is run by AI.
ether this is best thing ever or worst fucking thing ever.

Already did oodles of damage to Arasaka by hitting them where it hurts: the pocketbook.

Looks like our Megabuilding has a few secrets to unearth, but I am glad for the turret placement plans and knowledge that our energy budget is solid (if far lower than it should be due to the siphoning).

Still, we have the cash and means to really secure the Megabuilding and start moving on from there.

Relationship set to 85/100.
Very nice.
+8000 Eddies in Income per turn.
160% Increase in Rent based Profits. Booyah.
George Mcloud and Outlaw Security Firm have been hired. All Attacks on your building gain a +25 in their defense rolls.

When on the offensive, gain a +25.

(Gain 25 Mercs of Veteran Quality.)
Not the Quantity I was hoping for, but there's something to be said for Quality, Commitment, and Hating the People who want you dead.
Reward: The Reactor is safe, but you learned that the power it's generating, the majority of it anyway, is being siphoned off to someplace else.

New Actions Available.
Yes! No Nuclear Explosion! No expensive as all hell Reactor Repairman we need to add to our employee list.
Reward: Plumbing in great condition, mutated rodents discovered in the sewer system (may create new and interesting diseases in your building if left unattended).
Okay, we are Arming and Armoring our vets and dealing with that shit. At least the plumbing is in top shape and will stay that way.
Rewards: Discover escape routes, unrenovated rooms, and automated defense installation points.
Son of a bitch. I hope turrets count as stewardship since there building fictures. Otherwise I might have to hold off on weapons for a turn. Can't hold off on Armor, not if we are sending the Vets into a Disease ridden environment.

Woo! Money and a Kick in the ass for Arasaka. Nice.
Lol.

Reward: There is an attack imminent on the Megabuilding. Perhaps diplomacy may win. Perhaps it is time to strike first.
Assuming this isn't happening before next turn, we can Buy Turrets and Armor and Let them Break against our security while a small team takes advantage of their divided forces to Raise there base to the ground.
Rolled: D100 => 90+16, D10000 => 6582
@Trickster314 seems a little unstable profit wise. It worked this time, but I'd hate to get 10 in royalties for anything over a sum of 90 in success role. How about 4d2000 with a static bonus based on success? +1000 per multiple of 25 past DC, with a ceiling of 10000?

Yeah going forward I can adjust it a bit as your alias gets more of a reputation or tie it into the action roll somehow.

I wonder if we can fit proper blast doors on entrances to the building or maybe pop up bunkers for our security forces.
Lets focus on armor, weapons and Turrets. If we want to renovate the area around the megabuild to be more tactically convienent for us we can do it later. For now most of the threats won't be using the doors anyway, or at least not the serious ones.

Silverhand "Doors are for Pussies! Real Men bust thru Walls! Here's an Oh No for you corpo bitches!"
