Know O Prince, that between the years when the Oceans drank Atlantis and the gleaming cities , and the years of the rise of the sons of Aryas, there was an age undreamed of, when might and magic ruled the day with the flames of eternal life fire- fueled by the laughter of stern and thirsting gods.
The road of my master, whose tale I write is fraught with terror, wonders and the quest to harness the Faustian power of Magic…whose effects are known to tear the lesser minds and souls asunder with awesome power.
This is not the Tale of Barbarians and the Rise to a King, this is the Story of Might…
Might and Magic, from a forgotten age of HIGH ADVENTURE.

[]Of Cimmeria:Forged like a fine sword in the North of the Continent of Thuria, these descendants of Atlantian Colonists are a proud and noble people of both spirit, body, and blood. Worshipers of the Cruel but fair god Crom, they fight, destroy and live as they see fit, masters of their own ways and holders of many secrets if one knows where to look.
[]Of Aquilonia:The Great Kingdom of the west, The Flower of the West, and the strongest Kingdom of the Thurian Westerlands, it is a realm of Intrigues, betrayal, war, nobility and knowledge guided by its power and mighty Kings it is home to splendor and secrets that in this age will lead to the rise and fall of many kings.
[]Of Stygia:The Long lived Nation of Stygia is a piller of the world as shown by its secret orders, political rivalries and vast city libraries controlled by those who rule it. Though recovering from yet another Shem invasion the Cities are home to many secrets. And beneath the Sands, a more ancient land with secrets and more lie in wait, waiting to be taken.
[]Of Argos: The End of the Road of Kings brings us to one of the great merchant kingdoms of the age Argos.Though not built upon the ruins of long dead empires or filled to the brim with libraries as Stygia's great cities, it is the nexus point where secrets are shared, sold and bought at a price. Secrets that in the right hands, can allow someone to rise to power.
[]Of Shem: The People of Shem have traded many masters in the lands of their city-states and petty kingdoms. The Pastoral lands and mountains gave rise to a commerce-driven and with the Asshuri mercenaries being the torch bearer of many adventurers…looking for plunder, secrets…or their doom.
[]Of Asgard: The Nordheim have a saying. "Those who seek knowledge must be prepared to lose it." and despite the warnings many travel for the blessing of Ymir, to war in many battles or to find a meaningful death against the old Magics…Old Magics that extract a heavy price from those who wish to use it.
[]Of Brythunia: The Plaines of Brythunia are home to spirited men and women of the Horse, fiercely independent they suffer the wrath of slavers, battle as a lords calvary and master of their lives, though not as scholarly, a land between kingdoms share its own secrets for those who can look.
[]Of Hyperborea: The land which gives this Era its name, Hyperborea is the land of the Great Witch Queen Vammatar, it is the first nation of man, and as such has remembered older secrets. The Order of the White Hand, remembers many things and will guard its secrets.
[]Of Khitai: Glorious Khitai! A land of great wealth and mystery. From gold, gems, and fine silks, to the ancient secrets awaiting discovery. For Khitai was a mighty kingdom even at the time Atlantis and Lemuria fell to the depth. Here there are mystics, lawgivers and teachers, all one needs to begin a journey. But beware the priest mages, and the eyes of the God King who rules this land, he will not suffer a Rival.
----------------------------------
"What be thy lot in life?"
[]ESCAPED SLAVE: The bitterness of servitude. you remember the night of the lash, the cold weight of chains bound to your wrist and ankles. Freedom, the dream long forgotten is now yours!
But can you keep it?
--------------------------
[]MERCENARY: With a strong blade and the calling of coin and cleavage you sold your blade to princes, merchants, slavers and outlaws…but you desire more, a primal higher calling has gripped your heart and soul…from the land of Dreams and Memories you are called to power.
Power…resides where men believe it resides…after all.
----------------------------------
[]PRIVATEER:It began and ended with a Storm, your first great hunt on a merchant skiff against a grand tririme…and with it you grew in a desire of more as the years passed, and then a storm had left you adrift, and a Dream of Power guides you more then any promise of wealth and glory.
It is something MORE!
---------------------------------
[]WANDERING PRIEST/SAGE: You walked the path of service and piety and selflessness, how naive for you to think the world would have provided…it was merely a trial for the next stage of enlightenment.
Dreams of Holy Battle, Of Light, Of Darkness and more…all things have a purpose in your God's will, eventually all will be clear.
--------------------------------
[]ACROBAT: Dancing and Movement are all a part of life…and Life is the source of Magic and Joy and its own reward. But as all things…some powers and miracles beyond man are revealed by accident.
Or as some would call it, fate.
---------------------------------
[]MERCHANT: All you did was buy that strange Tome and see if it was real, you didn't mean to summon that demon to kill your caravan…sure you killed it but your ruined…alas the only way to financially recover from this is to figure out the arcane so you can properly kill the man who gave you that book that tried to kill you and steal his shit.
Is it petty, no…it is just business after all.
--------------------------------
[]GLADIATOR: The Callosum, the cheers the glory and the fame. The Battle and the Splendor, you had no wants or needs, only the thrills and the fights. And then you met the Slave of that one crusty city state leader…
And then all you remember was the puddle of blood you made only using some otherworldly power.
Then you started running, so much for the easy life, you have to figure out whats going on and how you can profit from this! Because somehow this is going to raise your rates.
------------------------------
[]SCHOLAR: All you did was read a tome, and then read another book, to make sure you could translate it. Next you knew the fire was coming from the battle that was raging outside the city walls…
Great another raid from the damned Mercenaries sent to sack the city.
And they actually breached the wall…
Wait? How did you light that guy on fire?
OH GOD!! YOURMASTER IS DYING PAINFULLY ON THAT SPEAR!
Was it a sign that you were magically inclined?
Yes.
Did it mean you were doomed? Probably, at least you theoretically know where to look if you somehow survive the days to come.

You looked upon the troubling winds of the plains with disdain as you knew exactly what was coming.
The Slave Masters were hunting, and you were running out of time.
"Alatu…you shouldn't have ran, the beasts and the raiders would have their way with you! They would grind your bones to dust and use it to make their bread." He said as the horsemen began to circle around you.
It was for one moment, but life was now so far taken.
"Fuck you asshole! I will not be used as some Stygian Warlocks BLOOD PAYMENT!" You shouted. "I will not let my body, life and soul be used as some bargain token."
The Man looked at you with his large nose and bulging eyes shouted "You are what I promised him! Slave! You are nothing but a means to his power and my riches! Just like how your mother was nothing when I let him have his way with her and I promised him my support in his endevors!"
Your hand trembled…at the mention of your mother, and the indignities she suffered under your watch.
"So your blind as to trust a sorcerer…with no way to control the bargain! You're dumber than I thought, he will betray and use you the same as I." You said.
"Mayhaps I am…But I will still be alive long enough to regret it…you won't!" He said. "Break his leg!"
The Man with the Club…took off his horse and nodded before slamming your left leg with all his strength.
A clean break… small mercy…it will heal! Hopefully.
You roared in pain. "AAAHHH"
Grit your teeth, it will pass.
"TIE HIM UP! Quickly…I feel a terrible storm coming."
You looked up to the sky and then the world around you. "Fire."
"What!" A guard shouted.
"The Sky is ablaze." You whispered as the Slave Catchers felt heat as a red and orange whirl of fire set them ablaze.
Ringmail, silks, strings and more began to all melt and ignite in the men around them.
Stay close to the ground! Take off your RAGS!
You did as your mind commanded as your former master was lit ablaze.
"AHRIMAN!! WHY HAVE YOU BETRAYED YOUR SERVENT!" He shouted as you watched him burn like roast pork.
Run…RUN!
And you crawled as you moved away from the inferno to come and prayed to whatever god may have called this storm of fire down.
You did this…you did this!
Now…Sacrifice…they will never accept you again.
You were alone and you felt a terrible weight place itself upon you.
This was freedom, a heavy and dangerous thing, the land was burned and food and water would be an issue.
But you were free!
You would laugh if you were not so interested in not breathing the smoky air.

You looked at the splint on your leg and sighed holding a staff to keep balance.
"A crutch would be more useful." You mumbled.
"Now that I am Free…Where the Hell do I go?"
What direction do you travel to?:
[]TO the South:To the Kingdom of Stygia and the Serpent Worshipers of Set and their ilk. A Dark kingdom wretched in people and in Gods, a place of Danger, but Danger is not a problem to those who can navigate it. Hopefully.
[]To the North: To the Kingdom of Koth, built in the Ruins and Shadow of the Old Empires of distant past, though the land is covered by hills and mountains the trade and caravan routes may provide aid and protection…if you can find something more then your body to sell on the road.
[]To the West: To the Great Kingdom of Argos and the Trade Cities, if there is one thing that Argos can give and take in equal measure, it is information and work, alone either is useful, but together something resembling power can be obtained.
[]To the East: To the Great Desert and after that the Empire of Turan, though the greatest risk to you would be the heat and lack of water, crossing the great desert may put distance between you and the Slave Catchers of Shem, and give you time to figure out the great powers you may have unlocked, for Turan is a scholarly place, near the great inland Sea.

AN: And Cut, here we go! You are now cut loose into the Hyborian Age, choose your Choices Wisely.
Organize in Plan Format and Please...READ THE Stuff in the Spoilers, there is important information in there.
If there was one thing you could at least consider to be a blessing in spite of your situation, it was that the sunrise brought a smile to your face, getting the little bits of dampness from your hair that came from keeping the fires you make when resting small.
Both out of fear of getting caught, and lack of usable material, an annoyance to be sure, but with a broken leg and not many clothes to your name it was a livable situation.
Slow, annoying and uncomfortable as all hell, it was a blatant improvement over the time in slavery. For one thing, you can set your own hours when the sun rises.
Though mostly walking around the great fields and low meadowlands, dotted with farmlands and the great hill temples that cover the borderlands between the city-states.
You must have moved nearly three dozen times in your life given the chaotic lifestyle and choices of your master, from working in the Kyros Vineyards and the great city of Asgakin working to moving copper to the forges.
It wasn't as fulfilling, as say being free to travel and see the entire city but you were among other things thankful for the little tricks you learned from it.
The fact the slaves from Cities you weren't from didn't treat you like the plague was…thankfully a reprieve from your normal life of fearing the Ax over your head. At least until the gods-damned members of your Master's retinue more or less spread the rumor that you were a cursed being and marked for a painful death.
They ruined a lot of things in your life.
More than the whippings did. Surprisingly.
Yet one foot in front of the other as they say…it's all you really can do these days, and the next one.
What I wouldn't give for some fucking grog right now.
==========
It was nearing the evening.
You saw the small caravan and smelled the food and ale from far away even then.
Hmm, mayhaps freeriding with a Caravan would let you get out of Shem faster, certainly better than walking.
"Are you here to gawk at us or join us, fellow traveler." He said, and you got closer, you got a fairly good look at him.
For one thing, he was Yellow, or as some would say from the east.
"Yell-ow." You said gawking as the guards looked ready to give you a thrashing.
The older man laughed. "Forgive his ignorance he doesn't look like he's seen a man from great Khatai, or much else in the borderlands. Sit, enjoy yourself."
"You're not going to kill me are you?" You asked.
"I am offering a meal and good company, in exchange for a bit of direction." He said.
Wait, guest rights a hot meal for information? "What's the catch? Everything has a price?"
"Ahh, we have a man with a modicum of intelligence, unlike most of you!" He shouted to his guards and compatriots.

=========================
"The Kyros Vineyards are much closer to the rivers than you think, despite the reputation of the Meadowlands, you'll find only Olives and their presses here. Though they can actually be useful if you need their properties."
The Older man nodded. "Hmm, I may have used their oils in the past, now that you have cleared my mind, I will consider revising them." He stopped and looked "This is bandit land is it not, the border regions of Shem's City States are not like the lands of Turan and Stygia."
"Yes, though they have been scattered due to freak weather, they will return in greater numbers." You said.
"Ahh, we will be fine in the journey ahead." He said. "Alas…it's all we can-"
He looked at your leg, "Trouble on the Road?"
"You could say that." You said. "A lot of trouble."
He nodded as you sighed. "Well then…give me a look, I worked for a healer in my youth, and have set many bones in my life."
He then laughed. "A Clean Break set competently…but slightly misaligned. If not properly reset, you'll limp for life."
You gulped. "Well.."
He smiled and properly reset it.
*SNAP, CRACK*
You shouted "FUCK!"
He then splinted your leg and handed you a cup of hot…water?
"It's tea, drink…it's impolite to refuse tea." He said as you looked at it.
"Thank you, good man?" You said.
"Name my good man?" He said. "Everyone has one."
"Alatu." You said.
"Gun of Chong."He said. "My Homeland is Great Land in Khatai."
"Gun…I don't get it." You said.
"Mayhaps should fate be kinder you can travel to it. But the Bandits are gone for now, this is news the rest of my fellows can use." He said. "Not exactly what I expected, but a good turn deserves another."
"I think the food is enough-" You said,
"Nonsense, in this ill civilized lands of Barbarians you may need all the protection you can get." He said.
"But why, Steel is valuable?" You said.
"I got this off a barbarian who tried to place it in my head, and he won't need it." He said, grabbing something from his baggage.
"That's an Asgardian Battle Ax?" You said in Aw.
"Yes…such a brutish weapon, tried to sell it at every city we'd visited, and no one wanted to accept my price and I've been lugging it around and it's taking up space now. Well, may it serve you better than it did the fool who tried to kill me?" He said.
"That is awfully generous? Why?" You said.
"Because NO ONE Wants to buy a Battle-Ax for 500 Coins and it's just sitting there mocking me!" He said. "Apologies, that damn thing has been a problem."
He handed it over.
"Oh…well good luck on the road." You said.
Gun Smiled. "Indeed, now let's look at that Leg of yours."
=================================
You looked at what little tracks you had and covered them.
"It should buy me some time to get some distance." You said.
Was it paranoia? No. It was Sense.
----------------------------------
The Border was a small posting mark with patrols.
And it was well traveled with patrols and guards.
The simplest solution is to go around and climb the hills around the roads.
Why doesn't everyone do this to get out of paying the toll?
You'd never know.
----------------------------
The Weeks passed and you finally arrived at your destination, or at least you followed the dirt road to the reasonable-sized City of Athos, which it was in the Midpoint of the Plains of Maru, and connected to a small river, while not a great city by any means it was the overland stop that those not traveling the great trade routes.
A Perfect place to hide.
You looked at the large bindle of firewood you carried with you, tied onto your back with your shirt and pants leaving you only in your loin cloth and the ax tied to a grass rope. "FIREWOOD, HEAT YOUR HOMES Without having to leave the City. CHEAP FIREWOOD!"
"Fuck off you beggar, take your shit somewhere else!" A market stall man shouted. "You're scaring the customers."
"I'm sorry, I didn't think wanting to heat one's home wasn't worth a few coins." You shouted flipping him off.
The mess of a conversation came and went until nightfall was apparent. As the sun set you were still standing in the still night air, still trying to sell.
No one wanted to buy.
And yet you needed to find a place to sleep and not get mugged.
Guess its time to knock on the doors.
A Red Scarf on the posting made you consider otherwise. "A Brothel."
You didn't have any bad memories with Brothals…you also didn't have any good ones either.
You knocked and were met by a small dagger under your chin.
"We're closed for the night." She said, and you could tell she was young, perhaps freshly blooming into adulthood.
She's gonna have a shit life if she's not careful.
"I'm selling firewood, and wondering if we can trade it for a room for the night." You asked, hoping that the barter worked.
"No." She said slamming the door in your face.
Shit.
"ELLES! WE NEED MORE FIREWOOD!" Another voice said from the Inside as you heard a swear and grumbling.
The Door then opened again. "Room and a Meal for the firewood and tinder, don't touch the girls or I'll geld you." She said.
"That is the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me." You said. "Also do I get to chose what I eat?"
"That is sad if true. " She said "And you don't get to choose what you eat."
"Fine. My guess its Soup Porrage and grual?" You said.
"Spiced Goose Leftovers with a hint of Bread and curry." She said.
You looked at her dumbfounded.
Actual Goose?
"You don't even know what that is do you?" She said looking at your face.
"Not particularly, I was lucky to even be fed at all growing up." You said.
"Elles! Tell that nice boy to help me lock the Basement JI Got Loose again!" The Matron woman said.
She pointed you to the celler as you looked at it and heard groaning.
You slammed the Door and put the heavy bar on it seeing the large and decrepit…thing, it was better to call it a shape of evil that lunged at you.
*SLAM*
"Why is there a GHOUL IN YOUR BASEMENT!" You shouted breathing heavily as you were beginning to be surrounded by half a Dozen or so beautiful women.
"Oh…oh my…Well you see-" The Matron started.
"Are you a FUCKING CULT!" You said looking for the AX at your side. "Witch dark god do you worship!"
"SHUT UP!..." She said, "Wait..you've never seen a Coven before have you?" She said.
Oh…Oh now, this is just great.
"A Witch Coven, dark magics… that's just great, are you going to kill me?" You asked.
"Much as we'd enjoy that, well…We can explain if you actually want to bother to listen." THe older woman said. "The fact you arn't trying to kill us with your Ax proves that… you are curious rather than superstitious, and that means you want to know."
"Feed him, bathe him and send him on his way…if he chooses to stay well, maybe we can come to an agreement."She finished. "We can talk about the Ghoul in the basement later, killing him will be a chore."
Well…
Not the best welcome.
But certainly better than well a lot of things in your life.
"The Name is Emia of Athos…you better pay your damned Rent when it comes up." The Matron now named Emia said.

You walked into the old Markets of the City and heard chattering.
The Shem flames have risen in the East, something has cut into their badlands.
Shem's countryside is in Chaos…all that live in the meadows between the cities are beset by bandits and worse.
A Storm is rising within the East….
"Why are they speaking of Shem and their troubles?" You ask a Merchant.
"We are an Inland City, and the routes to Shem and Ophir and Koth are our life blood. If one is gone, we need to send more to the other two to make sure that the flow of good remains." A Merchant said.
"Can't we trade with the Sea-Ports?" You asked.
"That would require cutting a deal with the Cartels in the Cities, and avoiding Pirates…Too much risk involved in either, even if the rewards are bountiful." He said.
"Well that is intriguing." You said, letting them be.
Failure: They speak only of Shem and their troubles, not of Argos and their own troubles. You learn nothing from the Markets and people.
-[X]Learn to Use Your Ax: You know not how to use your Ax, beyond cutting firewood, that must change. Or you will die.Cost: 0, DC:??? Reward: You Learn to use your Ax properly. Rolled: D100 => 91 +9=100
*SWING*
You remember a long time ago hearing a Story of a man learning to use an ax. The Ax was made of forged iron and oak wood to cut down a Great Tree from the Realm of Demons that had been planted when the world was young.
A Silly Tale, but cutting a tree to deny Demon's the run of the world was inspiring to say the least.
*Swing*
It was getting easier to bring in Firewood, both in cutting the wood and in carrying it. Each Trip you made was easier than the last.
You sold it to the Brothel, who in turn sold it to slightly less fortunate people.
Sure they were cutting into possible profits you were making, but they knew that you were at least somewhat useful to them.
And it paid for your food and drink, so…you accepted it for now.
Life is all about choices and who you swing the Ax at.
*Swing*
You were healing from the leg break, and the time in slavery…and while the Pain lingered, it would fade in time.
*Swing*
All things faded in time.
Least of all Suffering…it would pass like a midsummer night dream.
All things will.
You Smiled and looked at your ax.
"I know how to use you now." You said.
Reward: +1 Martial, Alatu has begun his recovery from being a slave. He knows the Ax he wields well enough. Mayhaps he can actually fight now.
-[X]What in the World is Alatu?: What Rumors Exist About you? Your master, and your (You'd hate to call him that) "Father" were well regarded and they spoke of you. Cost: 0, DC:40 Reward: You learn what you are to the wider world. Rolled: D100 => 95+9=104
Alatu sonGaza, Alatu Son of Gaza.
Your name, if you were born a free man, was one that was known to many circles in the trade and political circles of the western kingdoms to some extent.
You were after all the Slave of the great Shemmite Bandit king, the ruler of the borderlands between the cities. He is or rather was, an important power player within the wider trade and social networks of the Kingdoms.
He was important, dangerous, respected and above all else the perfect puppet to Gaza.
Gaza was a member of the Sorcerers of Stygia and a ruler of one of the smaller settlements on the Shem-Stygia border, he was among other things a Priest of Set, a Demonologist and a master of well, some form of dark magic you can't really explain properly.
The point is the man was a mage and a member of Thoth Amon's circle of sorcerers that ran the actual country.
Now what did that make you in relation to these men?
Well the obvious, the people of the world think you know their secrets and will be hunting you for it.
You knew how to read, you knew how to follow, and to some you knew how to defeat your Father.
The good thing for you is that you were dead, killed in flames by the wrath of the Gods.
It was perhaps for the best that you are considered dead to the world for now.
It's easier this way….
Reward: You are dead to the world, and as far as they know, you were important, but they do not understand the purpose you served.
-[X]Study Local Customs: You don't know Argos customs…it's time to learn them and hope you don't get caught and marked as a foreigner. Cost: 0, DC:40 Reward: You Learn Argos's Customs.
Rolled: D100 => 93+12=105
Argos was rather different from Shem's customs.
For one thing they operated off a largely mercantile economy, ruled by a King as all kingdoms are, commanded by merchant guilds and barons.
Athos itself was a part of the River Baronies, little petty landowners on the Aquilonian border region fighting for the biggest slice of profits and control of resources to sell to markets in the coast.
Though for one thing, Athos doesn't have a practical ruler. It's a sign of political chaos you can see as plain as day. Something about a Vampire being a chancellor to the Cities Lord, and well things going utterly wrong for everyone involved.
So this is what Emia meant by things going wrong.
Though wondering, how the Hell haven't you heard of this sort of shit.
This sounds like the sort of thing that would bring Mithra's Priests all over this place.
In between all the thinking, you took to their language and finery.
Have to look the part of a Free man…after all.
Reward: +1 Learning, and +1 Diplomacy You can now comfortably be called a Freeman. Bonus to avoiding Slave Catchers in Shem and Beyond.
-[X]Find a God to Pray to; Your certain something is to blame, find a god to yell at or find answers from.Cost: 0, DC:40 Reward: You go and Pray. Rolled: D100 => 24+2=26
You looked at the Burned Temple of Mitra and noted the empty bottles.
"The High Preist is a Fucking Drunk, how typical." You said.
The Statue's had a hint of decay, you saw the notions of the holy fire being barely lit, the great preaching masses were a small gathering of huddlers.
"It seems Mitra has abandoned this place?" You said. "Then again, god's rarely listens to us."
A younger man came out of the pillars. "Come to make a Donation?"
"Mitra seems in a bit dire straight in this house?" You said, .
"This has been a Challenge as of late, with Devil Worshipers and worse from the North and East. The Mad Emperor has raided us in recent times. To say nothing of our former overlord." He said.
"Yes I was wondering about that…how could the City be in chaos, and the High Preist seems the opulent type?" You said.
"He's not the real High Priest of this city, he was the only one left following the raids and the purges." He said.
"Purges?" You said.
"You haven't heard, we used to be ruled by a Vampire, the real High Priest and his ilk drove the demon off in a Holy Battle that caused the Temple's dire straight. And now My Heavenly Lord, wishes that I be ruled by a drunkard womanizer as my High Priest."
"Sounds like a sick joke, a real man dying and leaving all the powers of Heaven leaving you ruled by the least holy man in the city."You said. "Goes to show where he stands at the end of the day."
"You don't know half of it stranger. The High Priest is even keeping the Merchants and Baron's from choosing a city lord, only heightening the unease of this city." He said.
"Well the Gods have clearly abandoned you and your ilk" You finished as you saw him look at you in shock and disgust.
"Then kindly fuck off if you were I have no business or desire in helping a witless fool like you." He said. "Mitra fuck your soul!"
"I was born into and lived in slavery for much of my life…he already did." You said.
Reward: Met Namon of Athos, a Priest of Mitra, you insulted his god and his faith.
But it did give you some information about the Situation in the City.
New Action available.
-[X]I Burned My Heart of Fire: You dream, as you remember, you remember the Flame and heat as you remember the Escape…Escape…ESCAPE! DC:??? Reward: Remember the Escape...you Escaped…didn't you? Rolled: D100 => 96+8=104
You dreamed a Dream of Holy Unyielding FIRE!
Oh by the Etherelic Light of the Sun…
And Wrath of the Eternal Flame of Starlight I summon thy Wrath in Fire and Flame.
By Mitra's Gaze, Iblis's Knowledge and Wrath of Asura I give thee fire of Holy Light.
(Continued in The Heart of Holy Fire)
Mana Recovery: D4 => 4
Disaster Roll: D100 => 47
Caravans from Shem are suffering a slowdown in Traffic, this is making an odd situation of the City's economy.
While these are common enough, the suddenness is concerning.
And Wrath of the Eternal Flame of Starlight I summon thy Wrath in Fire and Flame.
By Mitra's Gaze, Iblis's Knowledge, and Wrath of Asura I give thee fire of Holy Light.

(Alatu POV)
Hours before the Escape…
You looked at yourself in the water of the well, seeing the damp reflection of yourself.
"I will die here." It was not an admission of defeat but a statement of what was in all honesty the truth of man.
You were a slave under a cruel and petty man in a cruel and unjust world.
"I will die here."
You were alone, your mother was dead, killed to appease a dark and laughing god of evil for power.
You were alone, and you had nothing…only death awaits you.
Death, and a soul bound to torment in the laughter of a thirsting god.
"I will die here.." You said to the reflection…feeling the weight of all your agony.
And then you stared deep in your soul, knowing only pain, suffering and sorrow.
The Light in your eye glimmered in the moonlight as you took one final breath in.
"I will not die here." You said as the reflection in the water cracked like glass.
The Reflection looked back "We will not die here."
You blinked before seeing the flame in the watery reflection "How?"
The whisper was soft and calming carrying a strength that you never knew you had.
"The fire within the soul is a glorious and wondrous thing born with great power and might." It said calmly.
"Soul Fire…I thought only true faith and the great priests of Mithra and Asura can use such powerful magics ." You said.
"Yes…normally only those such as they can, through effort training and belief that they are truly righteous in their actions and beliefs…but there is another way to gain such faith in the Soul itself." It said.
"How…" Your disbelief still apparent.
"You must give into true despair…and only then will the fire in your heart be made manifest, but beware such a thing, for others may want to find and take it." It said calmly . "But the way is open to great and terrible power."
"Like what?" You asked.
"Dark lightning, made of blood and hells ash, demonology and more…great and terrible power. You must be wary of such things, the Outer Dark is watching." It said, firmly like a parent telling a child a terrible secret.
You closed your eyes and sighed. "How do I save myself?" you said .
"The Great Sun Fire will rain upon the land under your will, but fire like all things we think we can control can grow beyond our control." It said. "If you use it…you may cause more damage then you intend."
You breathed in. "I'm strong enough to accept the consequences of my actions…you know that as much as I do."
"Perhaps we were born with some wisdom. Go…Prepare your mind. And try not to get burned." It smiled as you smiled back.

"I'm just surprised…this city is filled with trouble. I expected this sort of shit on the coast not inland." You said.
"Trouble will always exist, its a problem that we have to deal with. The real struggle at the end of the day is how to deal with them." She said.

The cage was supposed to hold the one thing worthy of true sacrifice in this damnable plain, and it was empty.
"It seems my son is not as grateful as I had thought." I pondered, thinking about how to correct this... mistake.
"No my lord, he is foolish indeed." One of the servants said, too quickly for my taste.
Another followed up, "But we have sent man-catchers to track him, they follow his blood scent!"
"I see", I look back at the cage. It is still empty.
"The ritual has changed, we will invoke a different name and offer different blood to its power." I state after a moment.
"Of course my lord, name those who will take the runaway's place and we shall bring them to you." ones proclaims. " Indeed my lord, we shall find any you say." the second this time.
I turn to look at them. "I have fine candidates in mind indeed."
The cage is not empty anymore. The slave hunters hired have not found my son yet.
This is a failure.
My former servants allowed my son to escape.
This is a failure.
My son is now in the wild, and spirits know where.
This... is a an rather unfortunate thing. It would take time locating him, and more time still actually bringing him back. Time that is so very limited.
But where had he gone? Not north, to the frozen barbarians of the old places. Not south to the sons of the snake. Not east to the desert that eats all. The last direction the slave catchers were spotted going was west, the trade cities with their petty lords and coin mongers.
"It seems my son takes after me in more ways than I had ever thought to hope."
(AN: Short and sweet, just enough to show how much of a terrible boss our dad is.)

"Seventeen Years." You said.
"Charming…Your eyes have the spark of Power, the sort of men that live short yet inspiring lives." She said as she leaned forward.
"I have need of this sort of man." The allure was power, she was seductive and strong and alive?
Who the Hell was this Woman?
No? That wasn't Important! WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THIS CITY!
"Who the hell are you?" You said.
"I AM THE ONE ALL MEN FEAR!" The Great Hammy behavior started. "I AM THE ROUGE of Aquilonia, The Shadow of Shem-"
"I've never even heard of you." You said.
"The Shar Swiper of Zingara!" SHe continued ignoring you.
"Why are you even doing this?" You said.
"And the Night Lady of Argos." She finished as you looked at her with a blank expression and confusion.
"I'm a thief and rogue, you know I steal shit for a living?" She said.
"Oh No I get that but, uhh, why me in particular?" You said.
"I'm trying to build a rogues guild in the city and as you know its rather politically unstable as of late and I'm planning on using you as a go between. Because your powerful and seem to be able to handle yourself admirably." She said.
"I BARELY have any idea whats going on in this fucking city! I just want coin and a bed to sleep in and to stay away from the slavers!" You said.
She looked at you confused and perplexed. "Wait your not a skilled warrior?"
"Nope." You said.
"You have eyes that show you have touched great,Power! So you're a Sorcerer of some renown or at least power?" She asked.
"No…I only have power over an unwieldy spell that might kill me if I use it."You said. "And I don't think I have the energy to try it now."
"Great that damned preist in Hyperborea told me I'd meet a man with eyes of primordial power, not some barely cognate fool living in a whorehouse." She said.
"Oh I'm sorry I'm half a year out of Slavery and have no real idea what I'm doing." You sighed.
"Oh do you even know how bad things are here?!" She said.
"NO!" You shouted.
She nodded. "Well the City is recovering from being ruled over by a Servant of Set, and then a Cult of some unpronounceable god, and then we had something of a political upheaval I have no idea about and we're here now."
"Oh, I don't get any of this." You said.
"To dumb it down, if you were paying attention, the City is in Chaos, and I'm planning on filling the power vacuum." She said. "Via Thievery riches and solving this off the mystery."
"So what does this have to do with me?" You said.
"I'm going to use you to make sure that happens." She said. "I'm not going to take no for answer."
You were tied up and didn't have much of a choice. You best get something out of it. "Alright, what do you have to pay me?"
"You get the run of the old Governor Palace's riches, you've never noticed that no one's gone in or out of it in months?" She said. "Rumor is that the guy in charge is a recluse who fears his end via Prophecy and wishes to avoid that fate…among other things." She said.
"So all of this is because he's a nut and doesn't want to go outside?" You said.
"Yep and the man who was running the show before was…well it's complicated." She said.
Well, she was offering Payment for this job?
So you have nothing left to lose.
"Alright…I'll do it." You said.
"Splendid I'll let you know when the time is right." She said. "The Name's Noa by the way I hope we can steal, fuck and fight our way to an early grave together."
The Ropes came undone as you sighed. "What have I gotten into.
