So
@cheesyme brought to my attention the existence of this weapon:
And after some considerations and comparisons to other fictional weapons from Tolkein and Warhammer itself I have decided that such a sword would be something Norscans would make.
Now, this is also a good time to lay down an
entirely non-exhaustive list of weapons Hana knows Norscans make. She's absolutely sure there are others she hasn't heard about however.
-Axes: Norscans are really good at axes. Point at a type of axe and they've probably made it at one point or another. Generally preferences lean towards hand axes, dane axes, battle axes, double bladed battle axes, crescent axes and throwing axes. Often a well used tool and a weapon in one the axe is a Norscan cultural staple and icon.
-Clubs: Norscans find clubs very simple and very straightforward to make. Truncheon sized ones, troll sized ones and many others in a huge number of forms.
-Swords: Straight blades, curved, hooked like an Indian Ram Dao, serrated and more Norscans consider swords tools for killing in the hands of those of high social status.
-Maces & Morningstars & Flails: Ranging from the Witch King of Angmar's torso sized flail to single handed flanged maces Norscans find maces a useful tool, though they don't make them as often as axes.
-Spears: Norscans consider spears tools for hunting, which in the wild wastes of Norsca often means monsters larger than a man. Variations on the pike and boar spear are very common. Javelins and other smaller spears meant for throwing also crop up regularly.
-Slings: A sling is an extremely simple device and Norscans oft have one on hand, though with the resilience of game that can exist in Norsca it is usually supplemented with a good axe just in case what you hit doesn't die to a sling stone to the skull.
-Bows: Bows are another tool for hunting and exist in forms ranging from the self bow made by enterprising hunters to recurve bows adapted from Kurgan horse archers. Norscan ingenuity often extends to interesting arrowhead designs. Crossbows also sometimes crop up.
-Hammers: Norscans don't make warhammers or mauls often, as they are seen as a tool, particularly tools of a smith and amongst some tribes are associated with the hated memory of Sigmar. In this way a master smith's most common weapon might be either an axe or a wickedly spiked maul.
-Spiked Shields: Hana has only seen one of these once on a traveler years ago and so assumes they are rather rare amongst Norscans.
