Character Sheet
Name
: Sherry Carter
Sex: Female
Birthdate: 6/1/1985
Appearance:
Neighborhood: Outer-rim of Yarrows Fall in the least favorable neighborhood.
History: Sherry was born in one of the poorest part of the city. Her father was an alcohol addict so much that he named her after one. He was working for a small company, he was mostly hauling heavy cargo around, she was born to a prostitute who in the same day dumped her in front of her father's door. Unlike most clichés want to tell you, her father was caring enough, still an asshole who beat her up when she pissed him off but he still took care and loved her in his own way. It was a rough if stable familial relationship. In her childhood she often got into fights and sent kids to the hospital. So it wasn't a surprise when she got into the local gangs, drugs smuggling, robbing, raiding small shops, you know the usual thug. However everything changed in her teenage years when a small branch of the Bratva aka the Russian Mafia got her nose in the small drug market. The local gangs didn't like that and it started the short brutal war that got in the national news, 15 deads were in that street, it was repainted in blood. Sherry was one of the small minority that fortunately sided with the Bratva. She was only a regular moot that was used to intimidate or kill people who got in the way. Steadily enough she rose in the ranks of the mafia and moved to Russia leaving her father in the city. There she became a Captain in the Bratva. She moved back to Yarrows Fall after her father succombed to liver failure. She is paying for his funerals and she is planning to stay for a while to reacquaint herself to the city that saw her birth.
Occupations: Mafioso
Mystery: One of the Bratva's agent suddenly disappeared. Not only did he have in his possessions incriminating documents and contacts but he was somebody important's son. So when the locals heard a Captain is coming around, they asked of her to find him. What she didn't say to them however is that she actually found him being devored by a creature, who would believe her? The Thing was blurry, she couldn't focus on it proprely, upon seeing it or even hearing it there is a a weird parasite sound like a broken TV. She recorded the whole scene but as she expected the video was nearly completely corrupted with a lot of interference and parasites. Sherry however wasn't the kind of person to be deterred so easily. She is determined to get the Truth, proof to the murder by that Thing and report back to the Bratva about her findings.
Possessions: Trench-coat, Colt M1911A1, The Thompson 1928(provided by the local Bratva), cash, normal travelling baggage.

...I foresee a confrontation between the Detroit Police Detective and the Russian Mob Captain in the future.

I may or may not be imagining a running firefight through an antiques store.

... I'm a librarian. A librarian! We've got a police officer, a mafia member, and a "fixer." I kinda thought we were supposed to be playing normal people...

@Sablonus we need you! We need more people with normal, non combat related professions!

Well, unlike any of ya guys. My character didn't meet the supernatural yet in anyway and I plan on taking a more conventional way of taking care of problems :drevil::wink:. If I get accepted.

Jamie's a musician. Just a musician who used to be an exotic dancer and a small-time drug pusher. Hustling to get by is all.

Depending on the kind of place you're in, she's pretty much normal.

For my character she is pretty normal too in a way. Guns are common in the US.
Ignoring her backstory she is a woman with a gun and knows how to use it which is not that uncommon since shooting ranges sport are a thing.

The guns aren't the part I'm complaining about. Why is it that everyone is either involved in some serious illegal activity or a cop?

Minor drug dealing isn't serious illegal activity, jeez. We're talking a few baggies, a couple hundred bucks here and there. The kind of penny-ante stuff that goes under the radar most of the time.

I mean, yeah, you're character isn't as bad as the hard core mafioso, but the joke works better if I don't exclude anyone. Also I was thinking of fixer as in "fixes problems for people that they can't fix legally" at first.

Well, I'm sorry for writing my bad character that I wanted to play? :eyebrow: Seriously its not like I will bomb the city to hell and back, shoot everyone I encounter and go through a firefight through the whole city with Rictus's character like a hollywood action-movie. Clichés are wrong because the mafia is very subtle and stealthy about its affairs. As to why the mafia, I can't answer the question but I can send it right back. Why a librarian? Why a Police Investigator? Why a a vampire-loving thug? You cannot answer those questions objectively.
Anyway, @Chronobreak didn't say anything yet, it means my character wasn't yet accepted.

Well, fixers fix problems. They do it legally if they can and find other solutions if they can't. The main thing is that they do things that their clients can't or won't do for themselves. It's a skill, an aptitude and an attitude - the last perhaps most of all. Think of it as Système D for the street.

Eh, I don't think they meant anything terribly averse by it. Just an observation, and I do agree it's a bit quirky, but these things happen with character creation.

Yeah, I apologize for that and the sarcasm there. It just sounded like he was complaining about the other players's characters. It rubbed me the wrong way.

'Twas meant to be a joke and an observation. There's nothing wrong with any of the characters, I was just amused by the lack of people not connected to crime in some way. I really didn't mean to insult anyone, and I apologize if it came off that way.

So, uh.

Well, unlike any of ya guys. My character didn't meet the supernatural yet in anyway and I plan on taking a more conventional way of taking care of problems :drevil::wink:. If I get accepted.

I mean. It's in the sheet. Like.

The mysterious encounter is supposed to give me some starting point to take your character. I have a lot to draw from, and that helps me narrow it down. It can be vague, but at least I can't be faulted for introducing mind controlling wasp demons.

So yeah. Put something there. Even if it's just that your father showed you some weird photos after a drunken escapade.

Unless your okay with letting me use mind controlling wasp demons.

(This would have been posted sooner if I didn't drink)

Well, fixers fix problems.

Up until this point I had a completely different understanding of what you wanted a fixer to be.

I thought you were a fixer that made arrangements for your clients and functioned as a saleswoman when 'they' got their hands on something expensive or need the same. That's what a fixer...is.

I was totally tricked.

I'll try to do something later today.

No, you're right. That's a big part of their job - acting as a go-between for people who need products and services. It's just a matter of how one frames the transaction. For a fixer, it's not so much about things as it is about solutions. Like if a client wants to get drunk on something expensive, it could be a fine wine or a rare cognac or maybe a fancy sake with gold flakes in, the important thing is that they're suitably impressed and impressive and sloshed in the end. Part of being a good fixer is being able to sell your client on a substitute when you can't get the exact thing they want.

There are broader aspects to what they do, like putting people in touch with each other, convincing them to do favours and perform services, knowing the right places to be and the right things to do when you're there. Like how every film project needs a fixer or seven when they shoot on location.

Sure but I'm the one who misunderstood so ya don't have to apologize. I need to and I say it again. Sorry.

No mind controlling wasp demons thank you.
I edited that part. I thought it was used as a starting point for the character to discover the supernatural and go on from there.
Not already encountered it and want to unveil the mystery 'o_o.

Sorry for radio silence (hic) I was kidnapped by a djinn.

I reserve the right to abruptly stop writing for any of you if something comes up. Will try not to.

Your marked.

Person who didn't get in...your sheet had to many problems. Didn't have the attitude I was looking for, Combat focus when this isn't meant for them, messy lore (why would the Russian mob care about nowhere) and other things like that. A 'direct approach' was going to kill you very quickly.

I'll try starting later. Have some firm ideas already; just gotta...swish them around.

Sure, its okay. I don't really have the time right now to write another one. Just start the game for the others. It happens and its better that way if the character doesn't fit the way you want the story to go. ;)

Why are two people threadmarked and two people under informational?
