Black Myth: Wukong

I really like the combination between realistically designed animal people and kinda cartoonish sounds effects and voice acting. Sun Wukong making monkey noises with his animations is especially pleasing.

Looks pretty solid as an alpha for an action game. Hope the stuff like the cloud riding is actual stuff you can do and not just one-off on rails sections.
 
Feeling Monkey of War meets Ni-Ape than Monkey Souls. Definitely something to watch!
Dark Souls playstyle would be wrong for a game about Sun Wukong anyway. He's all about the jump in swinging and keep swinging until it dies combat. Having to be cautious and slow and wait for openings would not feel like him.

Black Myth: Wukong - Comedy Trailer Shows Off Purposely Glitchy Gameplay and Lots of Cats - IGN

Black Myth: Wukong has released a 13-minute new trailer – but don't expect much in the way of new information, as it's a short comedy film featuring some purposely glitchy gameplay and a lot of cats in a motion capture studio.

So the devs of Black Myth: Wukong have released a docucomedy on their attempts to use cats to overcome the difficulties of creating high-quality quadrupedal enemy mocap, the joke being that the cats were so lazy and uncooperative that they ended up bankrupting the devs after a year of attempts to train their proprietary deep-learning program on cat mocap only resulting in their Tiger Demon miniboss becoming a lazy, twitchy mess prone to grooming themselves mid-fight. It ends with the devs successfully shifting to the restaurant industry after discovering their newfound passion for scientific in-house cultivation of high-quality ingredients for their restaurant business.

Personally I thought it was a pretty funny attempt by the devs at poking fun at themselves while offering a peek at some of the real-work behind the scenes (I think they genuinely did try to use the cats for mocap, though we'll only see the end results in the future, I think). I think it's also good in a way that Game Science has a reputation of being willing to consistently communicate the realities and difficulties of game development in an honest but creative and humorous way.

There's been some news. Seems like the devs/Game Science will be holding an in-person/offline/live playtest for Black Myth: Wukong on Sunday 20th of August in Hangzhou (where their headquarters are based), with admissions for up to 1000 participants. The aim of the playtest is mostly to get some spontaneous and genuine live feedback on the day, while also serving as a milestone for the game's development. Participants will get to play customised demo levels and try their hand at some boss battles. Registration starts from 31st of July till 7th of August.

Unfortunately, the demand for entry is expected to be quite high, so hopeful participants will have to fill out a questionnaire, complete with a 200 word short paragraph section on your passion for games. :lol:

Edit: Huh. Seems like the questionnaire's also available as a general feedback form even if you state that you can't make it for the playtest (expectations and comments about combat, gameplay, story, soundtrack, graphics etc.).
