Nox left a story hook in his sheet for someone to hop into.Cool. So, you guys got any suggestions for connection Aspects? I don't have any particular opinions or ideas.
One day, he discovered his nose was keener than even a normal Diamond Dogs, and his time in the slums had lent him a sharp eye for detail, so he took a few snooping jobs and found they payed very well, so he sought them out and put his skills to the test. It was on one of these jobs he ran into ___
As a general suggestion, perhaps Geraon could have dug into Circle's or Karl's record at one point as part of a report?
Since @Blackout hasn't responded yet, even with a mere acknowledgement, I don't think his enthusiasm for this game is terribly great. @The Fourth Monado, you're up.
KMmm.
I did spend the last five days in the middle of the forest with spotty connection and no phone chargers, got back about four hours ago.
Would've appreciated a warning but okay.
Had I known about this I would've been more lenient. Are you still interested and willing to put time into this?Mmm.

Geraon might've hired him previously? One day, he discovered his nose was keener than even a normal Diamond Dogs, and his time in the slums had lent him a sharp eye for detail, so he took a few snooping jobs and found they payed very well, so he sought them out and put his skills to the test. Do ponies even have elections? For a connection between Circle and Geraon, they could have met while the latter was investigating corrupt politicians abusing their positions to win elections. Circle would have been consulting with said politicians as to the most efficient method for them to gerrymander(?) voting districts, or something along those lines.
Yes. For local leadership.
Okay, that might work then.
Essentially, everyone comes up with a backstory, and intertwines them in some fashion. "While doing an investigative report, the topic of Squared Circle came up," and from there work things out. It's basically a safeguard, to give the PCs an IC reason to be working together and not with just, say, some NPC contacts they know.Okay, that might work then.
How does the rest of the Chargen work in practice?
This is entirely possible, Karl isn't picky about employers.
I picture that Circle would have worked with Karl in the past. He would be the brawn to Circle's brains. Karl isn't booksmart, but he's self-aware to know his own shortcomings.

I'll point out that a shady deal would be an excellent tie-in for Geraon. Circle gets hired to analyze gerrymandering strategies, Karl does some digging and hound work, and Geraon becomes a whistleblower for corruption. That could certainly work. Perhaps they were hired by an employer for investigative work? Would it be an above board sort of thing or something a little bit more shady? Circle has few moral compunctions so I'd be fine with either.

At the same time Circle's rep would definitely be at a low. The would-be mayor candidate's reputation is ruined, and both Circle and Karl are seen working with him. Though how to get Geraon to work with those two then...?
I always figured Karl may have done a little work for the police on the side. Nothing official, but a few stallions at the precinct know of him and ask him to stick his nose in a crime scene and give them a direction to go in. It's also how his...legally grey work is ignored.Alternatively, they could be hired by the authorities as additional investigative help and are sort of lumped together.

Geraon definitely doesn't take jobs from the authorities.
It is, in fact, one of the core tenets of his character that he doesn't.
If this does fly I think I can start the IC.Ah, I was thinking that he was digging into the issue on his own and was afterwards contacted with an offer for funding. If that wouldn't fly, perhaps something in media res could be the start. Maybe tracking down a lead to the same building and proceeding from there?
