An Utterly Thankless Job (Alt. Title: No SV, You Are A Logistics Officer)

[x][PLAN] Be assertive. If you can't use your poker face, then perhaps it would be best to come clean. Tell him that you know that he is a double agent. That is the truth, after all. On the other hand, you... do not know how he'll react.

A fair number of people are supposed to have caught on to the fact. That he still lives is a testament to his usefulness in this exact role. One more person isn't going to make a difference, but he might forego the basic level of deception when including us in his plans. It's not like he can get rid of our information source if he gets rid of us, so there is little point. Therefore, the approach should be workable.

Where did we find out the Steward is a double agent again? I remember us being warned he's not safe, but not finding out why.

[X][POIs] Who's Elarre's commanding officer when he's active? Try to find if he's been in contact with the Steward or the Vice-steward prior.
[X][POIs] Find a moment to speak with Lillian Meulle-Forran. We, too, are competent and somewhat scandel plagued, so we have a plausible motive in trying to make a more direct connection than just through her boss. See if we can get a feel for her past by asking advice on how to get past our own.

Second to last update, in a confidential letter keyed to our blood. It was found on "Guillaume's" body.
Methodically, you searched. Batumulus wobbled several times as you searched the body. Your haste was of benefit, for no one have had time to rummage the body in the slighest. And frankly, you filched just about everything from his body. His assumed identity, located in his wallet. Hidden in his wallet is several cover identities, openable by some careful application of Ides. Dossiers aplenty, sealed in such a manner that those who not privy of them trying to intrude would find the entire thing burned to crisp in an instant, along with their hands. Ah, there it is. A pendant, wrapped along the inside of his left ankle that signified a mark of favour from your Patron.
"Now..." The fourth and main thing. The dossier that was supposed to be handed over to you. It's good that you have already bled then, as you wipe the bloodied handkerchief on the red wax sealing the manila dossier. The wax hardened before crumbling into red ash. "..the biggest mystery."

A single paper is inside the manila folder. You beckoned the Hor-Herren to read beside you. For the next couple of minutes, silence filled the room.

"What the fuck." You intoned simply, breaking that silence. [...]

Through the original Inspired Success, Winslett Hertz gained the following information:
Jorgen Anhauser-Busch was a known double agent for the Wollenfrei Empire who was inserted to the Confederacy long ago after the aftermath of the Autumnal Revolutions. However, his loyalties haven't been ascertained and further reports seems to suggest that he switched allegiances some time after the Ithagan Massacre.

Should we try and find files about the Massacre? If nothing else, what's been written in the files we just got at least.

I'll just go with this for now. I think it's a better bet than trying to play subtle with our build anyway.

Right, time to get back at the swings of things.

Thank you, updated.
Wait, hold back a bit. Lillian's a three named while her mom's a two named?
The Naming System is something used in the Wollenfrei Empire only. Inertia and tradition kept it going.

Hoss Valtick was his CO. Citizen-Captain is the highest rank a levied citizen could reach and the Two Named did so with aplomb. The records cleared Hoss Valtick from suspicion for several reasons. The chief of them is that he is currently residing in the Praven Heroes' Cemetery, some twenty klicks away from Marland due to a bullet straight through the head by a sniper during the opening months of the war.

The simple fact that he is interred in the Heroes' Cemetery meant that he is in the good graces of the Empire. If that's enough, the personal handwriting of the Lion would show that he is clean. Any angle for collusion would not come from the dead war hero.

[X][POIs] Find a moment to speak with Lillian Meulle-Forran. We, too, are competent and somewhat scandel plagued, so we have a plausible motive in trying to make a more direct connection than just through her boss. See if we can get a feel for her past by asking advice on how to get past our own.

Vote is invalid. You can ask questions only in the paper intel can tell you.
Should we try and find files about the Massacre? If nothing else, what's been written in the files we just got at least.
Select the focus and vote for it in relation of the two characters or just random questions thrown at me. Winslett would know some of the more classified things with regards to the whole affairs there.

Edit: Also Plan Assertive is winning.

[X][PLAN] Be passive. It's simple, isn't it? All you had to do is to follow along and see what Anhausser-Busch is planning at. Hear out his offer and then see from there. The problem? Emil did say you have a bad poker face.
[X][PLAN] Be confrontational. Simple. Upside? Completely upending the balance and status quo would ensure that you have the quickestway to ascertain the Steward's allegiance. Downside? You would be completely upend the balance and status quo.

"He's clear, because he's dead." is suspicious in an intel war. :p

hmm. I'll get back to you for that.

Slightly too late there buddy.

[X][POIs] "Her mother apparently got into a big scandal of sorts that ended in the entirety of the Forran dynasty line to be exterminated, except for her and a few other relatives." Who are these "few other relatives" of Lillian Meulle-Forran? And could they have been used as leverage by the Confederacy?

This quest is listed in @Vocalend's signature as "reviving." I don't know if that's an artifact or not, but if it's true, I might as well do my best to apply the defibrillator. The setting that you've constructed here really is too damn good to pass up.

You're doing gods work, young necromancer. :p

Thank you for the kind encouragement and no, it isn't an artifact. Not completely anyway. The problem is that the muse is more willing to go for HinakoQuest at the moment than it is at any of my work. Well, that's the main problem.

Second problem, and arguably bigger one, is that I feel exceptionally inadequate to properly write the worldbuilding again. Call it impostor syndrome or the like- but there is a gridlock in my brain to properly write the feel of a Magical World War- one whose battlefield isn't solely fixated on the European-analogue. And so I need to actually write down a lot of worldbuilding notes. Which well... I am more than occupied at working through the one in my active FGO Quest already. And actually write the updates instead of building them. I'm not making any particular promises, but there will certainly be more effort at jotting this through further.

Thank you again Dermon, for the vote of confidence.

Well, rest assured that if and when you feel like you can do it justice, I'll be around to be at least a small part of it.
