I guess you're going with relatively high end interpretations of Mage numbers.

Maybe we can get Lakshmi to come with. Or at least set the groundwork for her to do so. (Probably not)

I have no idea who's on the other side that screen, but I want to marry them.

Some Japanese(Ichiban means "the first" in moonspeak, I think?) Virtual Adept.

Also, I was wrong. I am never, ever badmouthing this Dad again.
About this decision: do we go for rational or dramatic route? Sister must be indoctrinated to the gills, because such things should (at least in Technocratic opinion) be under some control, so we can't trust even her, let alone hope her friends - some of them Enlightened, some constructs, some combat constructs - won't notice us if they tried. Infravision, x-rays, independent drones....if they start looking, they will find us.
So...should we trust indoctrinated thing that may or may not still remain our sister (demigods may or may not be resistant to brainwashing) to not alert any single construct in the area? I think that's spectacularly bad idea.

OTOH. mages are quite the reality warpers and they may or may not run on narrativium which says that bittersweet goodbye scene is certainly a must and will be conveniently ignored by baddies(sort of) until protagonist needs to enter dramatic chase sequence. But relying on this is quite OOC, so...

[X] Do nothing.

If we actually care for Lakshmi, we shouldn't be talking to her, or giving her anything that might be considered evidence of our escape.

Because the Union is going to be trying to figure out how we escaped, and she's one of the obvious people to investigate. Do you think she can lie to them, when that happens?

If she doesn't betray us, do you really want her feeling responsible for whatever atrocities the Union might blame on Meghanada?

Unless you're planning on taking her with us, talking isn't a good idea. And I don't see any good reasons to bring her with us.

We should obviously take her with us so that she'll outshine us and be loved by everyone else far more than us in wherever we end up next.

We don't want to break tradition, do we? :V

How about "because fuck the Union getting our sister. Also, a demigod is helpful," for a reason to take her with us. Taking her with us is why I'm voting this way, at least.

My argument for shwing up is to either be like or not be like Avenger.

I'll wait till the actual update to see which one applies.

"Magic exists," he says. "But it doesn't. Except... fuck the nuances, I don't care any more.

SPOKEN LIKE A TRUE SCHOLAR OF OWOD

Meghanada: "wait what the fuck is this 'reality deviance' shit?"

"The Umbra," he replies, not looking at you. "The air opened up and something reached through and just... handed you over. Set you down beside Lakshmi and left. We never saw it again."

fucking whelp

"We were so frightened." He isn't looking at you. He's looking into the distance, into his memories. "Your mother was so weak after the birth and Valmiki was busy trying to stabilise her and you, you were... you didn't look human. I thought about leaving you there. I thought about abandoning you like I didn't even want you and letting you die out there, all alone and unloved."

fucking whelp

"But you held Lakshmi's hand. That was the first thing you ever did in your life. You held your sister's hand. And I have never thought of you as anything less than my son since that day."

Man. Maaaaaan. God I wish we had been closer to our dad (though in hindsight I think it's sorta clear why we weren't and it's hard to blame the dude for not knowing how to talk to us sometimes) but in a crisis he steps up to the fucking bat. Has pretty much always stepped up to the bat. It's sorta a nice change from the not exactly cliched but more common "yeah whatever bye bye parents HELLO ADVENTURE".

Worst-case scenario, if you got out? The Orbital Knight would have to be deployed. And that's the best we've got."

that's a foul, ominous forshadowing

15 yard penalty

repeat dialogue

Lakshmi's wearing long sleeves and gloves. You hear her curse as her coffee slips out of her hand. The half-monkey guy catches it with his tail, offers some witty comment or another. Lakshmi thanks him, stooping to retrieve it. Her sleeve hikes back a little, exposing metal. You didn't know she wore a watch, especially on her right hand.

>clumsy fine motor control
>long sleeves
>metal on the wrist

oh meg honey

looks like your sister asked for this

I suppose there's no real way to do this well is there? No manner in which we could slip a note while we walk by? Paper airplane it?

With what? A piece of paper and pen we pulled out of our interdimensional ass? We've got shit to write with yo.

I guess you're going with relatively high end interpretations of Mage numbers.

Nah, just reading through it but I doubt most of the people here are Mages. Like iirc the real strength of Mages isn't necessarily in just being dudes but being dudes who can set up a, like, martial arts school or a James Bond villain lair or a secret underground transhuman city and indoctrinate a bunch of Sleepers/Masses into their particular paradigm. Strengthening it and them.

How about "because fuck the Union getting our sister. Also, a demigod is helpful," for a reason to take her with us. Taking her with us is why I'm voting this way, at least.

Dude she's got cybernetics and she doesn't seem to mind her place at this point. You know what's going to happen if we reach out to her? She's going to be confused and glad to see us but she'll want to talk and if push comes to shove she'll wait for her handler or whatever to show up before running off after us. I mean look at us. We're rangey. We're looking more than a little hungry. We don't look well. She's going to think that we're fevered and not in our right mind and she'll cost us time that we can't afford to spend.

Because right now we're being guided out by a dude who's just breached god knows how many layers of Union ICE and shit and is fucking around in what's probably their major Australian base. There's a ticking clock running in the background and the windows he's opened are not going to stay open forever. And don't be cocky, the only reason we haven't gotten gangbanged by security werewolves is because we've got someone throwing up a lot of cover and because nobody's gotten close enough to look at us.

[X] Do nothing.

Also I like this image better. Reach out or do nothing. Meghanada sees his sister all happy and fitting in and makes to reach out and instead just...lets her go before scurrying, scuttling away. It's a good starting point from working back up. The rock bottom so to speak. And the image is more evocative imo than "Meghanada you dumbass what are you doing out of bedjesuschristhowlonghaveyouhadfangs".

I wonder if we'll ever see our sister again.

Also, they made an interestingly wrong decision. It was entirely rational in one sense, and I understand why the local branch acted as they did, but they were still wrong.

After all, if Meg gets free and joins the RD and becomes a weapon, it could cause mass chaos and death. It's certainly *possible*, they'd think to themselves, judging certainly by a certain human-centric standard and thus having a little distrust built in, that Meg might totally play ball if they just ask him, tell me what's going on, and be nice about it.

Or he might go berserk, break out, and cause mass deaths.

Doing as they did is thus the 'low risk' option that allows them to study the valuable genetic material for more about the so called Rakshasha.

Except they were wrong in their judgements and now he's leaving anyways, but with reasons to be pissed off at them.

Trust was deemed to be a danger, is the way I was reading it. (As in: if you trust him, the range of outcomes ranges from 'somewhat better' to 'vastly worse than anyone could possibly imagine.' Whereas not trusting him and locking him up and harvesting his genetic material seems to have a more baseline 'eh, it'll work' level of outcomes. Except whoops, he's getting away.)
