Two human nations, imperial pre-heresy era with some abnormalities, nothing concrete. From vox waves we got information about their names, Ospium Conclave and Deflye Hegemony. Also defences, you have seen them and all three nations got a lot. Xenos were especially well prepared, space stations, monitor ships and raiders scouts. All three nations didn't go out of the asteroid belt to last four planets. Understandable, who had the belt, had the road to the Outer Circle of star system. And skirmishes between the three were happening even now. Also there were some bases in the Belt. We can assume piracy also existed in the system.
Lack of Astropaths and Daemon Machines constant occupation with warp didn't make it easier. Especially about their contact with the wider Imperium of Man. Too many questions without an answer.
