The Rules For Combat and Stats.
The Rules For Combat and Stats.

The stat and the weapons the company has will affect the outcome of each battle.

A member of the company who uses a weapon that he is skilled in, will not suffer any negative penalties with their weapon. Allow me to explain.

0-20 is considered untrained, and you will suffer massive penalties when attacking or defending yourself with that weapon. A full on -50 to all rolls, bot attacking and defending when you are untrained.

20-40 is Trained: You are proficient with it, but nowhere near a master. The massive penalties that you have are almost completely removed by now, as you only suffer a -10 to attacking and defending rolls. It is also at this point where you can train the Specialized branch of your weapons/ soldier class. Calvary is an exception, as with the horse, you will gain a massive +30 for a successful charge bonus.

40-60 is Apprentice: You are someone who is very proficient with your weapon/ skill and will have a large +20 to all rolls, but you have a lot to go.

60-90 You will be considered a journeyman: You will still have a way to be a master, but dammit, you can do it if you just hold on. +30 to all rolls.

100 You are a master. You are a killing machine… nuff said. +50 to all rolls.

Combat:

At the Start of Combat, you will learn about the enemies stats, and if you are in command, will set up the formation.

Since you are not in command, you will be at the mercy of your captains tactics, for good or ill.

Enemies stats are predetermined, meaning if you face this type of enemy before, you can face it again.

However, since you have chosen insanity difficulty, monsters have much higher stats than you, and the chance of meeting well armed and well trained cultists or bandits will increase expeneciatly.

World: Due to the World being in darkness, traveling will be much more dangerous, and while you may not get ambushed by a bunch of small roaming parties, you can get ambushed by large hordes of twenty or more enemies, meaning that every battle will be a last stand like scenario.

Win enough battles in a general area, and the town will prosper, more people may be willing to join, and you can get an idea on how to beat back the Goddess of darkness, and reclaim the world.

However, there will be obstacles in your way.

Three events may trigger if you are far along in the quest that will show that you are winning or losing the War.

The Gates Open: The Goddess has seen your work and tries to smite you, sending one of her noble generals and his armies to hunt you down and kill you. Win that battle, and you will severely weaken her ability to affect the mortal world with her subjects.

The Heavens Shake: Merdia has awaken the long dead Demon Galdran and his crew of demons to hunt you. No town is safe from them, you cannot hide or they will find you. Defeating them will net you the legendary Wrath of God's Weapons, and The Shamorzan Armor set, the only weapons that can kill.

The War of the Dawn: The Goddess comes. The world holds its breath as you heroes try to save the world.

The Update will come in an hour.

The Grey Wolves March 1, Day 1 To Springdorm
The Grey Wolves March 1, Day 1 To Springdorm

The Road got boring after the third day of marching. It was dirt, dust, and gravel, with the trees of cedar and pine alongside it. The column was two by two, going down the line to the end to the baggage wagon carrying supplies and the equipment

"Alright lads, keep it up, we've got a long road ahead to Springdorm!" The captain shouted. "And I don't fucking care how tired you are, we're marching straight there."

You nodded, moving your helmet back slightly, taking in the scenery of nature before you looked back to the three dogs that were beside you. "Dan, Jon, Mal, come on." You stated to the three large hounds.

The three dogs quickly went to your side and went to a diamond formation around you.

"Oi, new blood." You turned to see Boss was speaking to you. "Get over here boy."

You quickly moved up the marching column and saw Boss. The man's sole eye made him look like a cyclone, the black patch that was covered by a brown piece of cloth gave him the appearance of a leathery face that was scratched and patched together with stitches.

"Aye boss." You said the words quietly as you looked at Boss. "What do you need?"

That mad Boss snort. "What I need is an ale that doesn't taste like piss." His statement felt stiff. "The Captain knows you've just joined the company, but he knows for a fact that without your dogs, your shit in a fight."

"I know that sir." You replied.

There was a grin, showing the jagged and broken teeth of the man. "Aye… you should know." He then took a deep breath. "We hired you for your fucking dogs, and if you could train them whenever we got more, so they can harras the enemy so they cannot escape. Fortunately, you can become useful."

You gulped before you nodded. "Aye, sir. I hope I can be."

"Good. FRITZ!" He shouted for the frontliner. The young man with ashen hair, grey eyes and pale skin beneath his heavy armor, the same age as you if you had to guess, stopped allowing the column to march past him until he reached you and the Boss.

"Aye Boss?" He said quietly, his voice sounding hoarse.

"Beastmaster here is behind you in line, he is your responsibility. You eat with him, you protect him on the line, you watch him shit if you have too. You just need to keep him alive while he trains and becomes useful."

"Aye boss." Fritz seems dismissive, but it may have just been his voice.

The Boss nodded. "Back of the column with you." He ordered. "And make sure those fucking dogs are kept close to you. We don't have the coin to replace them yet."

You nodded. "Aye boss."

At the back of the column, you and Fritz looked at each other for a moment. "So new blood, where do you come from?"

"Dawn Hurst." You replied.

"Good town… fucked a nice lass there, blonde hair, silver eyes." Fritz began to laugh. "She was a screamer that one."

The thought of the girl made you feel a bit jealous. "You fuck every girl who opens her legs for you?" You asked.

"Only if they're pretty." Fritz replied.

"What about you, where do you come from?" You asked.

"WinterWilde." Fritz replied.

"The Imperial Capital?" You asked.

That made Fritz Scoff. "Heh! There are fifteen imperial capitals claiming to have the next emperor. I stopped giving a fuck after I joined the company. No shut up and march."

You did.

Road Side Roll:1D100 => 91

A Good thing has happened.

Jon ran off into the woods. "JON!" You shouted, following your dog into the woods.

"Oi, fuck!" Fritz shouted, running after you. The heavy armor making him much slower than you. The entire column stopped and watched you run into the woods.

You reached Jon standing over a dead wolf, torn apart. "Bloody hell." You said quietly as you examined the wolf.

It was a grey one, and a massive one at that, it was as large as a horse. And a female one with puppies sucking on it's tits.

"Oi, new blood, what the-" Fritz became silent. "Oh fuck."

"Grab the pups." You ordered.

Reward: +4 Wolf Puppies. In five marches, they will be grown enough to fight.

[]Train Your Dogs: You need to make sure your dogs are in top shape.

[]Camp Duties: You have duties to undertake, maybe if you do the other's duties for this night, you can make some friends.

[]Patrol the Perimeter. It would be for the best if you patrol the camp, as you have dogs and their nose is better than your eyes.

[]Rest: You are going to rest, eat, and interact with the company.

AN: Please note, due to insanity difficulty, all rewards and dice needed stuff is off, meaning you do not know what will happen when you do an action except for the blurb I give you.

Plan Format, please.

Enjoy.

- [x]Train Your Dogs: You need to make sure your dogs are in top shape.

- crossbow is easiest to learn while the dogs can do melee
- dog training since we are hired for them and to protect us in melee along with Fritz

[X] Plan: Stop Being Useless

Question, do we have any stats for the dogs?

Also is taking care of the pups an automatic thing?

We should be on the look out for anything that is capable of ripping into a horse-sized wolf being in the area or attracting others just as dangerous.

I also figure the march is long, and it doesn't seem like we've put that much distance behind us from the body.

The rest option is included in the vote so as to not burn them or us out over night.

Edit:Changed 2ND sub vote.

[X] Plan : Lookout
-[x]Patrol the Perimeter. It would be for the best if you patrol the camp, as you have dogs and their nose is better than your eyes.

So what is the point of train the dogs?
Sorry, let me rephrase that:
They do have stats, but you cannot see them until you find out how trained they are until you test said training.

Your dogs currently do not have maxed out stats.

If you train them, they will get defensive roll bonus so they won't instantly die when in combat and have their stats boosted to where they can knock over enemies, tie them down, or even tear armor to shreds if it is weak enough
Why is captain taking care of the pups? We're the beast master, puppies needs to be trained early so they don't develop bad habits
Because the captain needs to find out if we have the supplies to take care of the pups, and if we don't, he will kill them, rather then us. They begin training if we have enough supplies next turn.

You know what, im not quite sure if there are modifiers or stats linked to fatigue or hunger since the option to rest is a thing, but I'll assume competency on the part of our character not to starve or burn themselves out.

I'm gonna go for...talking to Fritz to relay anything we come across and report back to him as our superior officer as my secondo sub-vote.

My reasons are that the vote seems to cover a single night and that the details given so far describe the possible dangers we're up against, I'm assuming that we won't be able to get much training done and that keeping on the lookout is the best use of our skills and energy.

Maybe once we put more distance from the woods or get more in reach of a town would be a better time to train.

There is not a fatugie and hunger system, as the captain knows how to keep everyone supplied and rested. However, in towns, you can buy extra items like beer or ale, or fruits ant dog treats to make everyone better, which can add morale bonuses, attack bonuses, and defense bonuses.

Marches are designated by days, weeks and or months, until you arrive at the city. but in heavy wilderness or bad roads, the marches can last for weeks, or worse, months. And then things get creative and hecktic.

As the starting march, you only have a three-day march. However, as you can tell in the update, things are afoot. And you might not be able to get away, and you must fight.

Thank you for clearing that up for me.
