  • Worth a few updates: fuck Chrome, back on Firefox. New PC, new laptop, work's good, gaming again. Thinking about writing some more.
Voted. Entirely too many people on the ballot tho, so most of 'em got skipped. Don't know 'em, don't care.
The downside of visiting mom in Quincy: her apartment is inner-city, so the noise is ridiculous. Also, no wifi.
You ever played Final Fantasy 3 (US) (also known as FF6 in japan and the GBA remakes)?

Yeah hex editing anything will almost invariably be hit-or-miss without any way to tell, if your edits didn't work as intended, if they also fucked up anything else in the process. Even more fun (read: stupidity) when you have to work around endianness.

Thankfully though the 1.0 rom code has been almost complete disassembled at this point, with guides explaining where to find what you need. The issue was, well, I'm very new to this. Even so, I did succeed at my attempt. I'm already on my second project, and have figured out where I need to start making changes for Seizure.

That said, without those disassembly guides, I would have been so fucked though.
My laptop now has three solid state drives. Bought a Plugable USB3 SATA dock on Amazon, repurposing another SSD from my desktop.
Is there any chance Alteran Alternatives will be continued?

The original? No. The rewrite? Maybe.

For the record I'm liking this under protest. "Thanks for the reply" meeting "It might update? Drat!"

Yeah, sometime between now and the heat death of the universe. That's my boilerplate explanation for whenever I haven't completely buried and forgotten about a project and I'm sticking to it. :V
Oh hell yes!: Idaho repealed the hybrid fee on vehicle registration. $102 for two years vs $136 for one with the fee.

Addn: it now only applies to plug-in hybrids. Plug-in electrics still pay $200 extra.
Fuck. Lawn sprinkler system sprung a leak, water bill's probably gonna be sky high now.

Jesus fuck. $1230. Getting estimates for repair now, and will have to visit city hall tomorrow to get this adjusted.

Repair scheduled for the 19th, city hall approved it because water to the system has been shut off, so no more leak.

Repair costed $490. Also spoke with city hall, no arranged payment plan, just need to make a partial payment of whatever per month and it's good. :D
Just got accepted for a volunteer newsletter assistant position at habitat for humanity north idaho. :D

I don't start until early May, but they're gonna have me do some data entry and computer maintenance while I'm there, so I'm pretty stoked. Doing this for work experience and references, since it's bloody difficult getting a job without those.
Just did mom's taxes, took 4.5 hours. Brought her tax liability down from $1700 to $197. :D

Haven't felt this great in a long time, which means the other shoe has yet to drop. :V
Just got my latest power bill. $65 for 688kWh, down from $130 for 1198kWh. Laptop only consumes 22W while idle, vs 10x that on the desktop.

Yet the laptop is actually about 1.2-1.5x as fast as the desktop. HIgher framerates in Fallout 4, for 40% the power consumption at load.
Welp, my desktop just croaked, so I'm on a laptop that sorely needs a hard drive transplant.

It was the weirdest shit to diagnose too. OCCT and Linx failures at stock clocks after I thought my OC was unstable, figured ram might be bad. Tested all sticks, got errors. Tested each stick individually, no errors. Put all sticks back in, motherboard only registers 8/12gb. Found a tweak online to make it see all 12, ran another memtest, 500k errors within a few minutes, and I know it's not the RAM. *sighs*

I think, rather than try to salvage the damn thing, I'm just gonna get a couple SATA to USB3 adapters off Amazon, gank my games and media SSDs from my desktop and game on this. It's technically more powerful than the damn thing and I'm staring at a $500+ bill to build a new system anyway, which isn't gonna happen for a while because I've got hospital bills to pay off.
When it rains, it pours: furnace ignition element likely died last night, in the middle of a cold snap. Woke up to 36F indoor temps.
Had to go to the ER again, another bit of food stuck in my throat. Was awesome tho, this place doesn't do co-pays for treatment.
