You are the Spirit of an Age.

You are the ghost of an Age long dead.

You are a being of...
Chargen

Aranfan

Team Plasma Grunt
You are the Spirit of an Age.

You are the ghost of an Age long dead.

You are a being of contradiction and nuance, as all ages are. But some words embody you, and reach your essence.

You hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal...
Les hommes naissent et demeurent libres et égaux en droits.

These are the words that signaled your birth. It was not fast, it was not without compromises with earlier ages, but you entered the world. And you grew, you grew vast and you grew strong. So strong and powerful that you dominated the planet.

Then you ended. It was so abrupt you can't even remember why. The last thing you remember, is the magic coming back in 2020, then darkness after 2025. You only know it wasn't nukes that ended you, they are too intimately connected to you for you not to know if they were responsible.

Yet now you are being called back. You are immortalized as a golden age, and some fools are trying to summon you back to being with magic. They will fail, but they will manage to embody you. Let you walk the world, perhaps you could influence things, and bring yourself back to life in truth.

Where is this ritual taking place?

[] Philedelphia
[] Port-au-Prince
[] Bogota
[] Paris
[] Glasgow
[] Hiroshima
[] Nanjing
[] Kolkata
[] Jayakarta

Though you are a but a shadow of your old power, you have several innate abilities.

Choose 3:

[] Internet Connection: Have access to the knowledge of the RL internet without spending sparks
[] Self Repair Nanobots: Heal 1 minor wound per minute
[] Internal Fabricators: So long as you have access to the right materials, you can manufacture machine tools, and ammunition for your guns. Due to space constraints, you cannot fabricate a part that is larger than an adult human. But you can make the tools required to manufacture such parts.
[] Jet Engine 1: Be faster, Speed +1
[] Jet Engine 2: Be even faster, Speed +1. Requires Jet Engine 1
[] Jet Engine 3: Break the Sound Barrier, Speed +1. Requires Jet Engine 2
[] Superior Armor 1: +1 Size for defensive purposes
[] Superior Armor 2: +1 Size for defensive purposes, Requires Superior Armor 1
[] Superior Armor 3: +1 Size for defensive purposes, Requires Superior Armor 2
[] Hydraulic Actuators 1: You have far greater strength than you appear to. +1 Strength
[] Hydraulic Actuators 2: +1 Strength, Requires Hydraulic Actuators 1
[] Hydraulic Actuators 3: +1 Strength, Requires Hydraulic Actuators 2
[] Ideas are Bulletproof: You get killed after 3 Fatal Wounds, not just 1
[] Factory: You start with infrastructure, could be targeted by enemies

Mechanics
Zeitgeist Quest Mechanics

Stats represent physical qualities of your character, and relevant stats determine the size of you dice pool when rolls are required. Pool size goes up according the to Fibonacci sequence, where the stat value N gives a dice pool of Fibonacci Number N+1, where the zeroth Fibonacci number is 0 and the first is 1.

Skills represent learned capabilities and contribute to the dice pool, they can be improved by the investment of time or by training. Dice Pool Size is equal to the Skill Value.

Dice Pool: Roll D12s, successes are on 8+, 1s negate a success. In an opposed roll, 12s explode for the one with the fewest dice

Size:

1 = Mouse
2 = Cat
3 = Child Human
4 = Adult Human
5 = Guar
6 = Elephant
7 = Small Dragon
8 = Average Dragon
9 = Large Dragon
10+ = Whales

Strength:

1 = Baby Human
2 = Child Human
3 = Adult Human
4 = Bear
5 = Big Cat
6 = Elephant
7 = Small Dragon
8 = Average Dragon
9 = Large Dragon
10+ = ???

Speed:

1 = Slug
2 = Child Human
3 = Adult Human
4 = Horse
5 = Cheetah
6 = Swift (Bird)
7 = Small Dragon or Peregrine Falcon
8 = Average Dragon
9 = Large Dragon
10+ = Supersonic

Durability Pool is equal to "Size Pool" + "Enhancement Dice", where Enhancement Dice represent things like Armor and such. Each success negates a success from the opponent's attack pool, rolls of 1 do not negate durability successes.

Attack Pool is dependent on weaponry used. Each unmitagated attack roll success inflicts a wound, the severity of which depends on a number of factors.

Note: This is only for 1v1 combat. A system for larger fights is currently undecided.

Sparks:

Get sparks at a given rate

1 Spark must be consumed daily to survive

1 Spark can be spent to materialize material goods that cost up to the RL price of $290
1 Spark can be spent to repair cosmetic damage, returning you to pristine appearance
1 Spark can be spent to repair a minor wound instantly
1 Spark can be spent to know In Character any one piece of knowledge available on the RL Internet (What counts as one piece is subject to GM discretion)
1 Spark can be spent to add a die to a roll
1 Spark can be spent to understand a new language
1 Spark can be spent to bolster a social action (Social actions are not rolled, but SB/SV needs all the help it can get with social)

1 Fatal Wound = 3 Major Wounds
1 Major Wound = 3 Average Wounds
1 Average Wound = 3 Minor Wounds

A single Average Wound will incapacitate a normal adult human, other begins may be tougher.

Social: I will regularly discard the exact wording in favor of what I feel is the gist of what the thread is voting for.

Out of curiosity, will we have the chance to acquire innate abilities not chosen now later, or will we be drawing off a different list?

Also, could Internal Fabricators eventually allow us to make nanobots?

Some of them will probably be on the list of things acquirable later, some of them won't, but this is certainly the easiest way to acquire any of these.

Sadly no.

Well, yes, but there's a whole lot of "build the tools to build the tools" in that quest line.

Expected as much. Thank you.

Guys, I would like to suggest we get the Ideas Are Bulletproof ability. It seems like one that will be rather more difficult to gain later, if at all, than the purely physical abilities like nanobots.

Also, one other question: Would I be correct in guessing that the ritual location is going to partly determine our stats or personality, based on the significant historical event that took place there? (Philadelphia for the founding of the USA, Port-au-Prince for the Haitian Revolution, and so on?)

Somewhat, you'll get a free, one time only trait based on where you start. I've also done a bit of initial world building on each of the starting locations. Some are better starting areas than others.

For edification:

Philidelphia: Location of the Second Continental Congress
Port-au-Prince: Haitian Revoultion, the only successful slave rebellion in history
Bogota: Capital of Gran Colombia, the nation formed by Simon Bolivar during the South American wars of independence
Paris: French Revolution
Glasgow: Where Adam Smith taught
Hiroshima: Represents the Pinnacle of your military might.
Nanjing: Original Capital of the Republic of China
Kolkata: One of the first major bases of the British East India Company
Jayakarta: The administrative capital of Company Rule by the VOC in what would become Indonesia.

As you might have noticed, Capitalism figures as prominently as Democracy in this list. Science and Technology are also major aspects.
