The world was always full of mysteries, you knew that. Hell, you thrived in it. For as long as you could remember mysteries have always been the core center of your being.
When you were younger you went and found mysteries, sometimes solving it.
Now that you're older you simply record mysteries, adventuring days over.
Most of the mysteries you find are big ones. When civilization has began and ended all over the galaxy, things are bound to be unsolvable.
But there are also the little mysteries that all add up. The orphan who lost their parent. The chef searching for the perfect ingredient. The fighter trying to defeat his opponent.
But there are even smaller mysteries.
Like why the hell did Chrono invite you to the most expensive restaurant in all of Mid-Chaldia?
The feeling the mere doors gave off reminded you of a boss looking at his coworker. 'And what are you doing?' They ask, causing you to gulp and check your watch.
13:44, just on time.
You give a quick sigh before walking up to the doors on the fancy red carpet laid out front. The doors open automatically revealing a sharp cold air as a purple arrow appears out of nowhere in front of you and begins to direct you to a register, as usual for a restaurant who can offered to pay for the proper spells to power everything. It's usually a sign of really good dining or pulling in a couple of favors.
You hope it's the former. You'd hate being forced to come here only to get crappy food, your workload back at the Infinity Library was already piling up with just how many research projects were being stuffed on your crew. Arf was a good assistant and all but there's some tricks you just can't teach an old dog. Though she'd kill you if you said that too her face.
"Do you have a reservation?" A fancy looking gentleman asks you as you reach the dining area. He looked as stoic as you'd picture a butler to be, and honestly it kind of unnerved you.
"It should be under Harlown." You reply with a slight nod, trying not to give away your feelings on the man. You wonder how the high class could even deal with this, considering just how professional he acted.
With a quick swish of the waiter's hands, a holographic keyboard appeared. With lightning fast speed he typed in something before giving a satisfied nod before turning back to you. "Right this way Mr.Scrya."
You followed him through an assortment of dining tables, each with their own food and drinks being shared over a meal between a group of people. Out of the corner of your eye you spot a group of businessmen drinking wine before bursting into cheers. Must be a party, you muse.
Before long you find yourself standing in front of your table, food already prepared with Chrono eating his heart out. The waiter nods before returning to his post.
Gulping down his food, Chrono looks over at you before giving you a wave. "Glad you can make it."
"I'd appreciate it better if I was able to choose my own food." You reply dryly, taking a seat across from him before raising an eyebrow at your dish. "Etchtalio?"
"Forgive me if I was in the mood for some Duntelar." Chrono remarks. You shrug before digging into your plate. It isn't long before the standard Duntal spiciness kicks in and your chugging down a glass of ice water like your life depends on it. Chrono just looks amused at your reaction. "Well?"
"Not the worst I've had." You reply. After all, it isn't like the time you had to be put into a one day Cryosleep because the food was so spicy your tune felt like burning off.
Incidentally, you are never having Mexican again. Earth food is just plain weird.
The rest of the meal passes in silence before Chrono gives a satisfied sigh, pulling out a folder and getting down to business. Unfortunately for him, you were still eating your food.
"I need you too head down to an Archeological site." Chrono drops, causing you to choke on your food. You cough for a few minutes before getting it all down. Your companion just hands you the folder which in and of itself is odd, why paper? Oh wait, you knew where this was going. "The following I'm about to show you is top secret and-"
"And must be kept on paper for full confidentiality. These papers are the only copy of this report to exist and will be disposed of in case of emergency." You interrupt with a sigh. "Chrono this is the second time you've told me this month. I get this lecture a total of thirty times a year since I've taken up the job of Head Librarian, you aren't fooling anyone."
"Just read the paper Ferret Boy." Chrono growls. You think he might be a bit upset at having his fun ruined but this was honestly so much payback for your early days on the job. Nevertheless, you flip the page only to find details on a familiar planet.
Hemanite, or at least that was the name of the planet given to it when it was discovered. It was currently agreed that a civilization had indeed once inhabited it, but we're too low tech too even come close to an industrial revolution. You had been following reports on it for a mixture of only times sake and curiosity.
You flipped the page only to widen your eyes in shock. Characters were inscribed among a metal pillar spiraling upwards towards the sky like a needle. While faded and rusted, you easily identify a cardinally connection to a familiar language.
"Chrono is this…?" You trail off reading the report with more interest.
"Indeed, the characters inscribed on the pillar are reminiscent of a very primal version of the Chinese characters from Earth." Chrono confirms. "Furthermore, this pillar radiates a strange magical energy that trashes all theories on this civilization."
"But why me? Why do you want me too go?" You ask. It was facinating and all but so was all the other stuff he had dropped on your desk.
Chrono smirks and you already dread his answer. "Simple, because you're flights already booked for a week from now and because you're my leading research expert."
Oh this bastard….
"You better get packing, I hear the planet is very hot this time of year."
"It doesn't even have an atmosphere."

Ow…
Your head hurt, badly. The last thing you remembered was going inside the strange pillar before everything goes black.
The cool wind hit your face while you were trying to remember the rest before- wait the wind?
It was at that moment three things hit you.
The first thing was that you were outside, The second thing was that it was night time, and finally….
You were on a bicycle.
You gave yelp before you fell to your left, metal contraption slamming into your leg causing your too hiss in pain. You slowly remove it before limping onto a nearby sidewalk and sitting down.
You give a careful once over of your surroundings, a quiet road in the middle of a suburban area that you remembered from Earth. The moon shone above you intently, something which was bullshit considering Hemanite didn't even have a moon. You couldn't recognize the stars above you too make any regular patterns and the street lights were your only source of light for your surrounding area, of which they weren't particularly bright themselves.
You quickly call forth the mental equation or a ball of light only for nothing too happen. You try again to summon one but all your efforts are in vain as you only end up wasting time.
"Huh…?" You mumble.
Okay, let's figure some things out. You can infer that what is currently too the right of you is your current destination or the route too based on the direction you found yourself riding the bike. Now, should you head that way, maybe you'd find some answers as to why you are here. On the other hand, you might be walking into a trap.

A year ago to this day, I created the original version of this quest. The basic premise, as is not going to be explained in story for a bit, is that a Lost Logia has trapped our MGLN friends into a Dating Sim, and our protagonist Yuuno must woo one of the girls in order to free everybody.
I'll refrain from saying anything else considering how the original version ended up.
I'd also like to mention that I have the experience of one Key visual novel under my belt and have a much more solid grasp on how to take this concept then a year earlier. Though my method is still the same, which being pull shit out of my ass and hope for the best.
Well I should shut up now, enjoy the quest.
