Hi everyone! I'm getting together another succession game for Total War: Three Kingdoms. This thread will be used to organize, set up, sign up, play, and post AARs of the game we play. I look fondly upon A Flame Against the Dark (CK2) and The Cerdicings of Brittania (CK2) and hope we can achieve similar success here, even with this less popular game.

Succession Game

A Succession Game is basically a Let's Play done by multiple people. The first player plays the game until a certain checkpoint, then saves it and sends it to the next player down the line. In some games, like Dwarf Fortress or Civilization, you play until a certain amount of in-game time or turns have passed. Say, a year in DF or 100 turns in Civ V. For the purpose of this Let's Play, each player will play 8 turns (2 years), or until they're ready to tap out if that comes sooner. Turns in Total War: Three Kingdoms tend to vary in terms of length - sometimes taking a few minutes, sometimes taking half an hour or longer, depending on whether or not there are battles, so some players may wish to finish their turn early.

The Azure Sky is already dead; the Yellow Sky will soon rise!

In this game, we will be using the Mandate of Heaven DLC. We will be playing as one of the three Yellow Turban Rebellion factions at the 182 start date. This will involve 8 turns / 2 years of buildup, then the Yellow Turban Rebellion begins around the start 184. This is a challenge run, because the Yellow Turbans largely can't use diplomacy or be at peace with most factions that aren't also Yellow Turban Rebellion factions.

Rules
  • No Cheating! Console commands, etc are not allowed.
  • Don't savescum. If something bad or interesting happens, stick with it, it will make a more interesting story, assuming our faction doesn't get wiped out.
  • Turns are 8 game turns (2 years) long. You may end your turn early if you wish.
  • You have a week to complete your turn. If you don't want to play out the remainder of your turn, it's fine to tie it off wherever and write an AAR (doesn't need to be long, just cover the basics, like X happened and X county was acquired etc) and pass it along to the next person.

DLC
The only DLC we are using is the Mandate of Heaven DLC, which allows playing as the Yellow Turban Rebellion in the 182 start date.

Hard mode, bc I feel like VHard AI in total war is a bit much
Zhang Jue, because it appears he has the best hat.
