It's been several years since XCOM failed its mission to protect Remnant, but that doesn't mean they're down for the count. With information on the commander's location, XCOM rallies itself once more to fight against ADVENT's reign.
Operation Gatecrasher
Location
The Void
The city was alive at night, with city lights and fireworks lighting up the night sky. Soldiers patrolled the streets, wearing black and red armor, sometimes stopping civilians as they walked by. But one kept walking towards a rather unassuming clinic, clad in a large, blue jacket with a simple, four-leaf clover pin placed on his chest. His face was obscured by his jacket's hood, but one could make out a rather heavy patch of stubble on his face.

He blended in with the crowd, passing through them like he was just another civilian. The soldiers paid him no mind, instead focusing on other things as he ducked down a nearby alleyway.

After making sure he wasn't followed, the stranger tapped on a black earpiece. "This is Central, come in Forgemaster, any word from Sugar Rush yet?" He was answered by the

"Sugar Rush has confirmed the target is on site, Operation Gatecrasher is green to go." With the operation green to go, Central cut back into the crowd and continued his walk towards the clinic. There was a checkpoint before his goal, but he was counting on it - It'd be the perfect distraction from the clinic. As he passed through the checkpoint, a red light lit up and three soldiers barked orders at him like he was some kind of dog.

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a shadow move behind the checkpoint, heading towards a black armored truck. Before he could do anything else, Central ended up with a rifle stock to the chest, nearly knocking the wind out of his lungs. Looking the offending soldier in the eyes, he tapped the earpiece and gave a single word.

"Now."

The world exploded as the armored truck was knocked on its side, and the troopers were scattered by the blast. With the distraction started, Central unsheathed a rather humble weapon - A steel colored pole with a hook on the end of it. With it, he hooked one of the disoriented soldiers before dropping them with a rather brutal left hook.

With the distraction started, Operation Gatecrasher could truly get underway.

Above the city there was a steel colored craft, with XCOM's emblem painted on the side. This craft danced through the sky expertly before dropping its payload off near the clinic, which was two soldiers clad in tan colored kevlar. One was a woman with short, gray hair and blue eyes, with the flag of Atlas painted on the back of her armored vest. Her comrade was a rather gruff looking man with shaggy, slate colored hair and a bushy beard to compliment it.

"This is Strike-3 and 4, we're near the objective." The objective was a rather unassuming clinic, with five troopers and an officer standing outside of it.

Forgemaster responded quickly, the sound of typing in the background. "Alright Strike-3, Strike-1 and 2 should be setting up the distraction...Now." An explosion echoed out through the city, drawing away the red-clad officer and two troopers. With those three gone, Strike-3 and 4 could move up to their goal.

Now, it was time to fight.

Research
Dr. Rosetta Stein

The Research Division is probably the second-most important facility of the Avenger, being led by Doctor Rosetta Stein, a member of XCOM's original R&D Department under Moira Braun. She was captured in the early days of ADVENT's reign, having been pressganged into their science teams. While removing the chip did free her from ADVENT Control, it also left deep wounds, both physical and mental. But nonetheless, she still pushes forward, hoping to aid XCOM in their endeavors. She can be found in the Science Lab, usually tinkering with something.

Engineering
Dr. Pietro Polendina
Engineers: 1

The Engineering Division is what keeps the Avenger still running, led by Doctor Pietro Polendina. Pietro was there when XCOM first fired against the aliens, having developed several revolutionary pieces of equipment - Which the aliens surpassed overnight. After being recalled from XCOM mere days before it fell, he began building a secret side project - That being the Avenger, a craft that has the potential to save Remnant from ADVENT's Rule. He can be found in the Engineering Room with his daughter, Penny.

Operation Gatecrasher - Turn 1
Nichol and Slate crept through the plaza towards the Gene-Clinic, hiding behind low-hanging walls or large pillars supporting nothing. It wasn't long for the two XCOM Operatives to reach the front of the clinic, hiding just out of sight behind two thick, concrete colored pillars with various alien inscriptions carved upon them.

The Troopers were on guard, standing beside an armored car parked in front of the clinic. They were bunched together, faces turned towards the commotion down the street.

A perfect time as any to deal with them.

Grabbing a grenade from his belt, Slate yanked the pin and threw it at the center of the ADVENT Troopers. The grenade sored through the air, right before impacting a Trooper in the chest. The grenade dropped to the ground with a rather dull clang, before detonating in a hail of shrapnel and fire.

Grenade Damage = 4
Three ADVENT Troopers were killed!
Three Trooper Corpses dropped.
Slate has earned a promotion!

With the Troopers out of the way, Nichol and Slate made their way to the clinic doors. The black and white structure gave off a rather foreboding appearance at night, but the two soldiers made their way to the front door. It was flanked by two large pillars, granting cover from anyone attacking.

Before they breached, Slate radioed in.

"This is Strike-4, scratch three X-rays." With those troopers out of the way, it was time to secure the area for Strike-1 and 2's arrival.

It wasn't long before the two showed up, with Strike-1 having dropped the hood and grabbed a rather impressive rifle. His hair was short and brown, and his eyes were teal-green. Next to him was a young woman with short, dark brunette hair hidden by a gray ballcap, and her eyes were a shade of green.

"Forgemaster, this is Central, Strike Team is green to recover the package."

As the team breached the clinic, several workers got out of dodge, heading for the exits as XCOM approached the objective...Which was hidden behind a door. Taking a moment to secure the area, they were about to crack the door's code when Forgemaster alerted them to some unwanted company.

"Enemy reinforcements deploying outside the clinic, be careful Strike-One."

[] Order...
-[] Recover the package at all costs, we've got to do this now or never. Hack the door, get in, and escape by blowing out the back wall with a frag grenade.

-[] Deal with enemy reinforcements first, then recover the package. Start by setting up an overwatch on the clinic's plaza, maybe you'll take a few of them out.

-[] Blow through the wall and recover the pacakge, you've got no time for hacking.

Somehow, getting bogged down seems like a really bad idea.

Getting bogged down is what Xcom does. We can win a straight fight, and get some XP. Take it careful, Fast is slow, slow is fast.
