Winter is Coming: House Stark Quest

[x] "I will protect the innocents of your family."

Honestly I flip-flopped twice as I read through the debate, but ultimately settled on this. Not because I care what happens to them, but because I want the Starks to not be murderers of the innocent. On the bright side, maybe Stannis will be pissed enough to break our betrothal.

I've been enjoying hearing out the reasoning for both sides.

I think Robb would want to try and salvage this situation; Tyrion's a good man and a good choice to put on Casterly Rock's seat, Myrcella's already been spirited away to the North, so the only loose end that can reasonable be dealt with is Tommen. Cersei will certainly die, Jaime likely will too unless he doesn't take the black, and Joffrey will undoubtedly do or say something worthy of execution. Realistically, getting Stannis to agree to let him join the Watch or the Citadel is likely enough; Davos would support a way to be rid of the child without killing him, I expect, and Stannis would believe in the principles of duty that the Maesters and Night's Watch are founded on enough that he'd likely accept those as options. Same with Myrcella and the Sept, though that one's a bit easier since she can be shuffled into it in the North.

My point being, it's likely not too hard to promise to protect the innocent family members. There's only a couple, and the solutions to them are options that Stannis, being who he is, would probably accept the reasoning behind.

Just throwing this out there for those who weren't thrilled about betrothal to Shireen and who wanted to deepen their ties to the North; it appears that Davos Seaworth put alot of his capital into getting Stannis to bend this far to ensure the North's support. We are seeing Stannis as himself without the layer of acceptability that Ser Davos polishes on to him. Either choice, Stannis is going to cause a dumpster fire. Our choices are merely to choose whether to throw wildfire into the dumpster or let Stannis find another match. The real choice is going to be how we avoid jumping into the dumpster with him.

To me, choosing to the protect the innocents gives us the chance to uncouple our house from Stannis when he decides to go full Mad King. As long as we don't announce openly to Stannis that we are protecting the innocent, things should be fine. Right now, this is just what we are telling Tyrion. As long as we are handling the negotiations for the imp to kneel and declare fealty to Stannis and all the imp says is his oath of fealty until he gets back to Casterly Rock, things should be somewhat okay.

To state that we must obey the king, to my mind, is letting Stannis douse King's Landing in wildfire and start his reign with child murder. For a promise of undefined support of the Wall and the North, and Ned can inform us of just how material the support of Stannis Baratheon is when we are the ones in need of support. Even an inquiry or letter would have at least been a token to demonstrate that Stannis was worthy of obedience, that his word meant something.

Let us demonstrate the wiliness of the wolf in this matter.

I see we're leaning towards immediately disobeying the king we've sworn allegiance to. Well, I only got one thing to say about that:

I want to kill Stannis and Renly and take over the crown. Can you really blame me for being Chaotic evil ? :V

I like Stannis, and hopefully Davos will speak some sense to him, but we won´t kill an innocent child if we can avoid it.

Bold strategy? As I've written before, this. Is. A @Charcolt Quest! We overthrew Lys with some whores! We battled Elder Gods in Sothryos! We killed the Faceless Men and robbed the Iron Bank!
This choice is positively tame in comparison to those.

A bit more seriously now: the QM herself asked us not to take it too seriously and that the ultimate goal is to have fun. We don't need to debate and nitpick every choice. If someone suggested (for example) knighting Grey Wind for disarming the Kingslayer, I'd be all for it. Fuck Cersei and her Game of Thrones theory. When we play the Game of Thrones, we win and we have fun, there is no middle ground.

Can we trying asking what Stannis wants to do with them.
How about having them convert to the Old Gods publicly as well as proclaiming them basters.

I agree entirely.

If someone suggested (for example) knighting Grey Wind for disarming the Kingslayer, I'd be all for it.

NOW ALLOW ME TO NITPICK THIS CHOICE.

Robb's not a knight and thus is unable to knight Grey Wind. Not to mention it was most likely the maester that disarmed the Kingslayer, Grey Wind just did enough damage that it was neccessary.

Now get out of here with your filthy Southron values.
