I think I probably mentioned Sombrero way back, somewhere around the Crystal invasion. It just came back to mind@Pittauro Thanks for the feedback. Made the corrections. At least a funny image pop up from my misspelling of Sombra. Petition to change Sombra's name to Sombrero when?
A/N: A little omake of a father's reluctance to let his son join the army.
Omake: A Father's Reluctance
Crownail stared off in the horizon where the setting sun set the sky aflame with a bloody red color. He considered it appropriate for what was to come for war was coming. There had been an upswing in military recruitment and equipment with unheard of spending by the Imperial Government for the past few months. Rumors flew about what for, ranging from mundane such as preparing a defense against the recently discovered Yetis to the ludicrous like Sombra's corpse rising out of the grave with an army of undead at his back.
But Crownail knew what this was all for. The flyers and leaflets urging patriotic young to enlist and enticing the rest with generous bonuses, the rapid construction of training centers to accommodate trainees, and countless factories, smithies, and manufactories churning out equipment by the cart load. It was clear to Crownail what the purpose of it all was. The preparations to invade Maretonia.
And oh how he wished the Maretonians had not enslaved his fellow countrymen and instead simply handed them back. Now their cesspit of a nation had deteriorated into a hellhole of constant war and suffering made all the worse by Pegicles' Storm and the Sacking of Roam. His younger self would have no doubt sneered it was all deserved. But he was older and more mature now. Fighting against the Sorcerer-Tyrant did that.
How terrible that war was with the Crystal Ponies trapped in their own bodies and the horrific abominations, twisted by dark magic. He still had nightmares where he would slay his adopted daughter just moments before Sombra was defeated by Hardbeak and his mind-controlled slaves freed. Crownail took comfort in the fact that , even though it was terrible and tragic, the War against Sombra was something of a… heroic thing. Or at the very least a necessary act to bring down a power-hungry, slaving despot.
Yet the looming intervention in Maretonia would be more muddled in comparison. He did not know to what extent though…
"Dad!"
Crownail was shaken out of his musing by the voice of his son, Cloudcrest. He turned around to see his son approaching with head held high and a flyer clutched in his right talons. Crownail let out a sigh, knowing what it meant.
"I know you don't want me to, dad, but if Pegicles manages to unite Maretonia, he'll set his sights on us and with the Crystal Protectorate between… I can't let sis be a slave again."
"Then I should start pressing her to return home again." Crownail set his beak.
He tried numerous times in the past to get her to come back home as the situation in Maretonia deteriorated, but she stubbornly refused, saying that many of the former slaves still needed a helping hoof in settling into their new lives. If she returned then Cloudcrest had no reason to be exposed to the horrors of war. His son's lustrous and pristine feathers would not dull like his, the light in his eyes would not dim, and he would most certainly not drink himself into a stupor to escape the nightmarish flashbacks.
"And you know what her answer will be."
"I just don't want either of you at risk."
"I know, dad. But please understand this is something I must do. I can't stay here while my friends fight."
Crownail let out another sigh. "Do you understand what you are getting into?"
"Yes. I know people die-"
"People don't simply die in war, Cloudcrest. They are crushed, skewered, sliced, and bleed to death!"
Cloudcrest took a step back from his father's sudden outburst. The anger seeping into his tone was enough to cause the griffin to flinch as if Crownail's anger was physically manifesting. Neither said anything as the blood red horizon darkened into a starless, lightless black.
Crownail took a breath to calm himself. "I'm sorry. I did not intend for that."
"Are you alright?"
"No, I am not. You are leaving for a war in a distant land and I am too old to stop it."
Yes and no. At first, I also thought the same, but after careful thought, I realized that it didn't make much sense. Archimedes was responsible for achieving the technological advances (we only placed the money) and defeating an incredibly powerful evil creature is not enough to have said Skill, because if that were the case, Sigurd / Siegfried, Arturia / Arthur, and Beowulf would have it. I mean, not even Romulus have it and he is ROMA.Personally, I think Garrick qualifies for Pioneer of the Stars (星の開拓者, Hoshi no Kaitaku-sha?, localized as "Settler of the Stars"EX) is the unique Skill given to heroes that became turning points in human history. All difficult voyages and challenges which are considered "impossible" turn into "events that can be realized.
A case similar to the one above, the agency was formed during his reign, yes, but the fact that it work so well is due to is our Spymaster, so that Noble Phantasm would be more suitable for him. Even so, this would probably manifest in other Classes such as Caster (?) and Shielder (Probably Ruler?). I intend to publish those ones too, but first: Rider, which is gonna be by far my favorite. Trust me, it doesn't work at all like you are all thinking. And maybe something to do with the ridiculous spy organization that formed in his era?
Although it might not quite have enough impact for a special trait as a Saber.
Actually Assassin should be a possible class, for similar reasons as why Washington had that as a possible class.
Edit: Personal opinion of someone who is admittedly not much of an expert...
The problem is obvious
In this case in specific, this would work better:Presence Concealment : EX
The ability to hide one's very existence, a skill innate to her by her very birth as a changeling. However unlike others of her kind, her skills in hiding herself away and adopting other forms and personas has no equal. For hers was so great she managed to fool and flee her very Queen's detection, and was only found by the greatest spies of her time because she allowed herself to be found.
Maybe change it for Espionage or lower its rank to C. A+ is the same that Enkidu and he was a construct from Gods designed to battle Gilgamesh. He can feel Watcher, something that for all means should be imposible. In other words, a little to OP and not fitting.
Well I'm hoping we make a good impression, especially to Luna.Any one else extremely interested in how our meeting with the two sisters will go or even how equestria currently is. Like more then the war.
Do wonder how they will react to hearing of sombra. That usual gets us some browny points with non slaving empires.Well I'm hoping we make a good impression, especially to Luna.
But there are issues with this.I have two reasons why, even as I feel wary of the outcome, we should try for a protectorate solution.
1. This reason is the pragmatic one: magical access. A vassal state with magical traditions and base pop could circumnavigate our starting malus and entrench us as the predominant world power for generations.
Merlins' work and the birth of the hippogryphs have already set us migitating factors, but it's Maretonia that may elevate us to a near paritymagical potential.
2. This reason is the humanitarian/protective one:
I'm absolutely terrified for what happens if we aren't there to act as a force of order, when a population of former slave- (mostly Earth Ponies) and-third caste (Earth Ponies) of Maretonia finally come to the realization that slavery is now forbidden, they have easy access to steel weapons including crossbows and these former unicorn - and pegasi nobles, their mercenaries and professional armies aren't looking so good, Chief.
We have a giant army, and basically every citizen is trained to form a Millitia at the drop of a hat.
GODDAMN THIS IS SOME QUALITY ASS SHIT RIGHT HERE PLEASE INJECT IT INTO MY VEINSFate Grand Order Character SheetClass: Saber

Parameters:
Class Skills:
- Strength: B
- Endurance: B
- Agility: B+
- Mana: B
- Luck: A
- NP: A
Magic Resistance: C++
Magic Resistance grants protection against magical effects. Differing from the Resistance effect that merely rejects Magical Energy, this ability cancels the spells altogether.
Cancel spells with a chant below two verses. Cannot defend against magecraft on the level of High-Thaumaturgy and Greater Rituals. Garrick, knowing very well his strengths and limitations, always preferred to leave the confrontation against Mages or exotic creatures in more capable hands, such as his most Loyal Knight, The Hero of the Empire, and the Black Watch that he commanded. Still, due to his confrontation and eventual victory against a certain King (Tyrant), he is especially resistant against Black and Shadow Magic.
Riding: B
Riding is a Class Skill of Rider and Saber class Servants, denoting the ability to ride mounts and vehicles. Rider-class Servants will typically possess a high rank. It is said that dragon type mounts are an exception, requiring a different ability other than Riding
Most vehicles and animals can be handled with above average skill, even vehicles that did not exist in the time period one was alive in, for they are no exception. However, cannot ride the likes of Phantasmal Species such as Monstrous Beasts. A strange skill for a creature like Gryphus to possess, but one that nonetheless Garrick has at a respectable Rank thanks to the machines constructed during his reign.
Personal Skills:
Protection of the Crystal Heart: C
is a Skill denoting a protection given by the Crystal Heart, a mysterious and very powerful object.
This particular Skill would be much stronger if he was summoned in the Caster-Class, but even so, in case of facing creatures whose hearts "Has been consumed by darkness", the user gains + modifier in the Parameter of his choice.
Charisma: B
Charisma is a composite Skill consisting of a person's charm as well as the natural talent to command or unify an army or country. Increases the ability of allies during group battles. A rare talent, and an ability inherent to Servants of the Saver class. Having B Rank in this Skill is sufficient to lead a nation as its King/Queen. The morale of military forces he or she commands is extremely high
Infernal Queen's Training: A
A Skill derived directly from the anecdote where Garrick was trained directly under the supervision of his wife. To date, there are no documents that explain the exact details of the training regimen, however, if Garrick's expression when remembering the incident and the Skill's name is any guessing...
In times of need, Saber can dramatically increase his Strength or Endurance momentarily, but in return, great pressure will be placed on his muscles.
"Don't be fooled, Master, the memories of that 'training' hurt me more than using this 100 ... no, 1000 times in a row!"
Noble Phantasm:
Orichalcum Memento: Element of DenialThe sword carried by Saber in life was nothing more than an Orichalcum sword, in addition to its anti-magical properties and being a unique blacksmith work of its kind, there is nothing that really differentiated it from the ones carried by his family or the Grandmasters of the Knightly Orders of the Empire. However, in the eyes of his subjects ... no, rather, in the eyes of history, such a thought is impossible.
Type: Anti-Unit
Rank: A
Range: 1~2
Maximum number of targets: 1
The collective belief that "That Sword must be special" has managed to affect the sword itself. Although it still retains its properties capable of denying/weakening magic, that effect has been significantly increased; Clairvoyance or Instinct like abilities with a lower Rank than A are severely affected, continuous contact affects the functioning of Noble Phantasm, and slashes made against creatures made of magical energy (such as Servants) are especially damaging. As expected, not even Saber is immune to the effect of this always active Noble Phantasm, so he must be really careful about not being hurt by it.
Truly, this sword could be considered a superior version of a certain crimson spear.
Ritterorden von Griffonia: Once More, More Than Ever, Answer!
Type: Anti-Unit
Rank: B+
Range: 1~2
Maximum number of targets: 4 (?)
"Konrad, Colombroni, Adrian, Glimmer. Thou Spirits, Thou Strength, Thou Will, just like in yore, lend it to me! Ritterorden von Griffonia!"
Not a warrior, but a King in whom his subjects could place their trust, that, combined with loyalty than the Grandmasters feel towards Saber, is the source of the power of this Noble Phantasm. By calling its the True Name, Saber is able to accomplish something that only a powerful Caster with a quality workshop and a not minuscule amount of time could do: Modify a Servant's Saint Graph and/or create Demi-Servants.
The Grandmasters hear the call of their Emperor and respond without hesitation, their souls literally in the palm of his hands, a situation that would undoubtedly be traumatizing for any other being, produces nothing but joy in the Knights when meeting again with the man to whom they swore loyalty. By introducing these souls into a mortal, they becomes a Demi-Servant of the Saber-class, with physical capabilities far above most mortals, but still lacking a Noble Phantasm.
On the other hand, the effect on a Servant is as similar as it is different, depending on the abilities of the Heroic Spirit in question, it may well win the Double-Class Skill if it has the necessary aptitudes for the Saber-Class or changing Class completely, which can negate the negative effects of Skills such as Madness Enchantment. In the former case-specific, it is possible for the Servants involved to use the Noble Phantasm of their Saber Class, but only once, and immediately thereafter the Knight's soul will permanently lose all effect until the end of the Holy Grail War.
Garrick Golden-Feather I wasn't a Warrior, instead, he was someone who depended on more capable people to fight his battles, something that is demonstrated when even summoned in the most offensive Class he keeps depending on others. There will be people who call him a coward for such a reason, but those who served under his reign know that such a statement is nothing more than slander. The Leader, the King, and the Emperor, doesn't need to attend the battlefield, such work must remain in the hands of those who in the grand scheme of things are insignificant, while the Monarch wisely guides the country towards a future that only they are able to see.
The fact that he still showed up on the battlefield is probably the reason why these knights keep follow him, even after their deaths.
Runes and summons would be my guessI'm also curious how garrick would function as a Caster, given that, as a griffon, he lacks magic to begin with
First, thanks. Second. A-Rank is equal to Iskandar which is...fair, but I'm not 100% convinced, at least not at this point in the Quest. As a Ruler, he would have it at that Rank, no question asked.I'd say Charisma would be A-rank on account that Garrick's popularity is extraordinarily high.
I'm also curious how garrick would function as a Caster, given that, as a griffon, he lacks magic to begin with.
A little guessing:
Protection of the Crystal Heart: C
is a Skill denoting a protection given by the Crystal Heart, a mysterious and very powerful object.
This particular Skill would be much stronger if he was summoned in the Caster-Class
