I do wonder if it's possible to make the crystal ponies part of our empire after we defeat sombra? That's going to be a huge expense if we do that but we might get magic users out of the deal and be able to enchant our tech.

if he doesn't transport city to the future maybe
might get a few crystal ponys running from the empire
It is very unlikely that we're going to have any crystal ponies in our Empire. More than likely we're going to kill most of them in our fights. and even if we don't and manage to defeat Sombra most of them are probably going to die because he's a dick like that. if not from a kill switch them from the fact that they're all literally only being able to keep going because of magic his magic. there's also no one who can run away because they're all being controlled there's no dissidents there's no resistance movement they're all under his control. If we somehow manage to kill him without killing the majority of the population off then they're going to starve because there was nothing around for them to eat or they're just going to collapse because there's nothing to eat and they're too weak to be moved.

They can eat anything that we can. starving as they would be they are more than likely to eat anything we gave them. But due to the nature of their control we can't take prisoners we can't leave them alone only one Sombra is fully defeated/dead would it even be possible. By then most of them would be dead. Any that are Left alive wouldn't be anywhere near us and would die before we ever got to them. Any that are near us that aren't dead will not be able to be moved and will more than likely freeze to death.

I wouldn't be so sure they'd fall to the last. Take heavy losses sure but I'm sure we can save a couple thousand at least.

You would be surprised at what you would eat when your starving on deaths door.

So the Crystal ponies will be alright with eating meat, I mean do we even have any foods that ponies can eat, especially once we make contact with Equestria.

Forgetting the frozen lands all around them. At this point the crystal ponies may be running on necromonic magic to keep them going, those who arent are in the process of being worked to death

Actually, the spies we sent saw that they were dumping the dead into a body pit, so thank God, there is no Necromancy.

has recently found a way to use liquid fire in specially made lamps as an improved source of light

Good job Genevieve. That must be how that lantern stays alight at the memorial.

It is also surrounded by numerous ghostly figures flying around at a rapid but consistent pace.

Wendigoes, new subjects or pawns? Also, did all the old abominations get replaced with these new rock ponies, or are there some around? I got the impression that Sombre, after seeing our flamethrowers, decided to upgrade all the Abomination Hybrids.

You had feared that many would be hesitant to sign up after the Winter War

Can we just acknowledge the benefit of our a warrior-minded people? If any other species had this many causalities then we would have a very real fear that people would not enlist. Like if this happened to Dragons or Pegasus then those groups would not be able to recoup their losses.

sat a massive orb of polished black crystal that seemed to visibly pulse with dark magic.

Can we even handle the orb as a Muggle-species? Griffins can only just handle magic artifacts designed to be used, and The Crystal Heart shape doesn't lend itself to be user easy.

Yeah, for the population of a species 1000 is absurdly small, that's like a single town of people. I'm saying some of those dying but not dead can be saved and given the dying but not dead are a significant portion of the species...

yeah, 1000 is nothing. 1000 is less than the mercenaries we can hire, it's less than our elite knights, it's less than a frontier town.

-Into the Storm: The Blizzard may have ended for you, but it still rages over the border. Despite the scouting expedition sent last year that gathered the vital intelligence needed to halt the invasion, you still know very little about your new enemy, or the land it calls home. You know this war isn't over, and if you're going to have any hope of winning it, you'll need intel on what exactly is waiting for you on the other side of the Peregrines. Cost: 400. Time: One Year. Reward: New Intel on Sombra/Crystal Empire. Chance of Success: 40%

Required: 60. Rolled: 84+20(To Be The Emperor Omake)+10(Soul of Steel Omake)=114 (
Art Crit!)

Once again, Ravenburg calls up his best and brightest scouts and spies for a dangerous assignment beyond the Peregrines. Once again, the agents are sent out along varied routes to minimize their chances of failure and discovery. And once again, all the agents return alive and unharmed, bearing valuable intelligence.

The lands beyond the Peregrines are as you'd feared: an inhospitable frozen hellscape.

Every scout reports a close call with a sudden crevasse, an attack by hostile wildlife, a sudden avalanche, or a dozen other natural hazards, and all of them speak of the blizzard that seemed to intensify as they journeyed deeper into enemy territory. They report spotting numerous roads and mines teeming with more overworked, underfed slaves, toiling away for the sake of their dark master, some keeling over from exhaustion only for their bodies to be unceremoniously dumped into pits and ditches apparently prepared for that very purpose. Their fellows continue their appointed task, never stopping to rest, heedless of the cold that should freeze them to death where they stand.

They follow the roads to a massive city miraculously shielded from the cold, bigger than any in your Empire, buildings of crystal stretching as far as the eye can see. And at it's center sits a massive palace that towers over all else, it's crystalline spires brimming with arcane power. Your scouts didn't dare to enter the city for fear of being discovered, but they could observe much from afar with their telescopes. And little of what they witnessed bodes well for you.

For starters, the Shadow King still lives. You'd suspected that, but now you have confirmation. He's...not quite as corporeal as he was before, but you doubt that makes him any less of a threat than he was previously.

He does indeed inhabit his palace, which is guarded by a sizable force of what can only be referred to as living statues. While they bear a resemblance to the abominations fielded in the attempted invasion of your lands, these creatures are without any visible biological component, appearing to be made entirely of stone and crystal. You suspect these beasts will be more durable than their fleshy cousins.

In addition to that, the uppermost spire of the crystal palace seems to be the epicenter of the storm. It is also surrounded by numerous ghostly figures flying around at a rapid but consistent pace. Your scouts seem to think these two things are related. Are these creatures responsible for the storm? And do they answer to the Shadow King?

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, one particularly perceptive observer managed to catch a glimpse of "something important looking". In one of the rooms of the spire, just below the peak where the "ghosts" were flying, sat a massive orb of polished black crystal that seemed to visibly pulse with dark magic. More tellingly, he claims to have seen the Shadow King pass in and out of it, as if he were using it to recharge himself or something of the sort.

Well, at least you have a clear target now. And as of now it doesn't seem like he's preparing another invasion force, which is the best news you've received in months. You commend Ravenburg and his spies on yet another job well done.

Crystal City Located, Crystal Supply Lines and Mining Operations Identified, Potential Weakpoint Identified, Intel Gained on Crystal City Defenses.

Right so given what we have learned here getting Kirin to help us is even more important now, getting through that frozen wasteland will be a lot easier with pyromancers let alone fight the Wendigos.

Other then that could we disrupt Sombra's supply lines and mines that we found? NOt sure what he is using them for but as a general rule I would prefer to disrupt whatever plans he has with them. Plus we might actually capture some crystal ponies alive and find out about the mind control IC.

Blimps.... those would be useful for say bombing the orb except for that storm. Next turn I want to try and contact our unknown neighbors on those ships we saw a few turns back, see if they can possibly help us out with our enemy to the south.
You'll need to. Sombra is one (gigantic) thing but Wendigos? They are ghost's that sap heat and spread ice. No blade can touch them, no flesh, escape them. You need magic of your own. You need allies.

You need Qilin. While flesh, their fire magic should be enough to affect the Spirits of Hate.

I think we just built a Wonder.

Meanwhile in Canterlot...

Luna looked on with a dropped jaw as the nearly completed war memorial to the Stalliongrad war vanished before her eyes. It was only two days from the final capstone was placed where'd the wonder go?!

Celestia shrugged "Raven! Change it moving the palace to Canterlot."

"Right away princess"

And after a few papers were signed, Luna's jaw dropped again as a Royal Palace was suddenly 98% complete after the memorial vanished.

"But... what about the memorial?"

Celestia shrugged again, "Someone else built one first, oh well. it happens"

Dang, didn't finish the 3rd omake in time cause I fell asleep, but oh well, now I have some time to finish it.

It is the first brick in a Great Wall that shall guard against the darkness.

Great wall, go~~!

I've spoken of it before, but actually getting a line of forts is great, but communication between them is going to be difficult without specialized signals/telegraph. And we have yet to unlock electricity on our tech tree.

BUT! on the cool yet probably exorbitantly expensive side of things, I've mentioned it before, but if we were to run tracks between the outposts, travelling through tunnels in the mountains or around them, it would be easy to supply each through a powered minecrart. Add some weapons on it and it becomes a rail shooter instead!

Whats better than the great wall? The great wall with an ARMORED DEATH TRAIN ON TOP!

Meanwhile, dang, was hoping to get some sort of relationship bonus with the yaks on the war memorial, but what it has already is great.

a massive orb of polished black crystal that seemed to visibly pulse with dark magic

Oh dear, that's not good... not good at all.

We're not magically inclined. I feel sharing military intel with the yaks on this would be fine, especially since they are more magically inclined than we are, even if only for a bit. Actually, sharing any intel we gather on sombra with them can only be a good thing really. Might as well share what we have.

Contacting the qilin is looking real tempting right now...

+1.5 Gabriella Opinion

.... this means we're at 10/10 spousal opinion, right? HELL YES! MAXIMUM SWOLE

On another note, hope the empire takes note on our efforts to become as strong as possible and starts trying to emulate the power couple at the head of their government in terms of getting physically buff.

A fragment of an ancient design for...some sort of flying machine?

Well, isn't that startlingly relevant to the omake I was writing...

Truth be told, the blimp isn't all that relevant. Its aspects of the design that are more telling.

Alright, I'm not sure if any of you know just how significant this is, but I'll spell it out. One, a stable wing design. and two, more importantly, a hint at propeller design.

While it doesn't show the exact design for a propeller, I'm sure they can put two and two together on just how this thing is getting pushed forward and how it stays stable in the air. with propellers, you have avenues to better air powers, in windmills, a better boat, actual flying machines, fans for vents in mines and the forges, just... A LOT OF STUFF.

Now we just need to figure out steam engines, to go full steam punk blimp, Not only can it move the blimp, we can create trains and steam boats.

Industrialization baby!

Blimps are very advantageous for us, since they can act as flying aircraft(Griffin) carriers.

Also need create guns too. Steel Faith and Gunpowder.

The jump between the pumps Archimedes made to actual steam engines is actually not as far as you'd think. It's more about 2 things really, a more efficient design in piston structure, and converting the pulling motion into rotational motion. So really, it'll probably be an option REAL SOON.

Unless they are mass raised from the dead once they all die. That way they can all return back to work.

How many times do we have to go over this. Sombra has never shown any inclination or ability for necromancy. Not in this quest nowhere in the show nor in the comics. all this is trying to do is make up a problem that doesn't exist and if it did exist we would get hints at it which we are getting nothing of the sort. so I'm okay with saying we don't need to worry about him rising a bunch of dead bodies.

The result of our scouts were damn well amazing. Perhaps we could potentially sabotage and destroy that crystal before our enemy has a chance to invade us. Using a small group of our most elite saboteurs might do the trick, and have them carry a fuck ton of explosives too.

The best chance wed have at that is probably right in the middle of war, to be honest. When's hes too busy focusing on moving his troops across the battlefield to properly take note of what's happening back home.

It's no doubt a suicide mission though. Defenses will be high, no doubt he left the some of the best of his army to defend his tower.

Although... I think we may have stumbled upon something great with diamond dogs. Could we just dig under the tower and collapse it by screwing with the grounds structural integrity? Would be slower than planting charges and blowing it up that way, but would be much more stealthy. Or just plant bombs underground. That too.

Problem is recovering the heart would be troublesome like that... but it's an option.

Oooooh we can bombard that mother fucka to the stone ages we those air ships make it through the testing phases.
First we need to unlock the secret research combo

Fire bombs + carpet bombing = Firestorm

The sisters better hurry if they want there to be anything left of the city, otherwise we are going to have no restraint in turning the entire area to slag and glass

Quick question for everyone but does anyone have any ideas on what we can do with our blimps, besides an air gryphon carrier?

hmm... well... sure gryphons are flying units, but we have been also composed of diamond dogs, and strong allies with the yaks.
If we ever get them to integrate they could also be used as fast deployment carriers because, while we don't have parachutes, we can go in a yak/griphon duo where the griphon can support the yak and assure a safe landing. And if we manage to KEEP air superiority in a conflict, we can pretty much flank anywhere we damm please. It woudn't be that usefil THIS conflict, maybe, but yeah, thats pretty much a game changer. We can get strong land units past defensive walls.
And thats before we put cannons on it.
If we actually manage to have good diplomatic relations with other flying species/flying able States... we might as well end up as the air Hegemon of the continent.

I think we just found a pretty good target, those mines. If we hit them with skirmishers then we might be able to weaken his industry, divert troops into defense instead of doing their own raiding, maybe figure out what Sombra wants the crystals for (probably mind control talismans or his abominations), capture a few of his slaves to study how the mind control works and if we can break it somehow (might be a long shot but I want artificers, dang it!).

With the discovery of the Windegos we really need the Kirin. Their home land is rife with spirits so they likely have ways to fight against them. Also, asking them for help against some evil spirits that they have an affinity against (fire vs ice) sounds a lot better than asking for help against a massive empire trying to destroy us. It would also play to their sympathies. They have had to deal with these things for a long time so this might be a common point between our people.
