What if portals to the Monster Hunter suddenly appeared around the world?

Lets be honest here, Humanity would try to colonise the other world and fail pissing off alot of monsters in the progess.

First of all, scientists would scramble trying to study the portals. These portals would help us understand space and time or some stuff I don't know what the scientists will find out. The next is military interventions and quarantines as the scientists would inadvertently piss off some monster, making it charge at the portals with the need to murder everyone, this will catch attention of the Hunter's Guild. The other thing that would also happen while military interventions are happening is interdimensional(?) diplomacy as the people of Earth and Monhun!Earth interact, especially through the portals at the 5 cities that you've mentioned.

Now after that happens, we can either try to economically colonize Monhun!Earth, take them over by force, or to seal the portals. Whichever happens, we will piss off just about everyone.

Don't forget in return the monsters would try to colonize these new lands with limited success. For example, Diablos would likely dominant Africa and parts of North America, plenty of food (mostly plants in desert or go places near the desert that has lots of food) and no predators other then humans and not just that they can easily dig if they suffer to much damage.

Send that Resident evil woman at it, her director husband too. If they die then the game-movie butchery might end.

On a more serious note, we'd be fucked. MH had an advanced civilization that got destroyed by a single Fatalis. That world has a balance and anything that tries to tip that gets smacked down by its enforcers. I wouldn't put it past that world to have a literal godzilla sleeping somewhere just in case something needs balancing. We'd either get wrecked by those balance checkers or some creatures cross over and become extremely invasive species.

Can the monsters come though? If yes, we're fucked. If no, any attempt by governments and military to expand through the portals by force is fucked.

It depends on how well the majority of monsters take hellfire missiles, if the lighter ones can be killed with anti tank missiles, we could take the heavier ones with Bunker busters and the toughest but rarest ones with nukes, but it may pay to be america with more dakka in this situation.

With dragonators merely damaging most monsters as a gauge, modern weaponry will have as much success as mon hun ones.

G ranked monsters and elder dragons are were the problem lies. Hopefully cooler heads prevail and the people from earth don't fabricate some reason for invading.

One issue I see is the entirety of Europe only having 20 portals in comparison to other continents. THAT will cause bitter feelings to arise.

Still not as bad as Australia that have the same amount of portals concentrated within a nation continent. Which is also a part of the British commonwealth thus making the 20 portals British as a result.

We aren't completely screwed. The first step will be setting up deterrents around the portals. Not defenses because that's an impractical amount of firepower but instead non-lethal measures that simply discourage wild monsters from approaching the portals. This will likely be a combination of sounds, smells and lights that simply discourage approach. This is significantly easier than killing monsters and effective against almost everything.

Short term that's good enough to try to establish diplomatic relations, get tips on how improve it from the locals etc.

Long term things aren't so stable. Invasive plant life is the biggest risk as it will dismantle and replace our entire ecosystem from the ground up given a chance. Fire is much more common so pretty much every plant from Monster Hunter is adapted in some way to deal with it much better than our own. They might struggle to get a foothold but one good wildfire will leave them with a lot of rich soil to cover before anything else can grow back. Not to mention that there will be a massive demand for said plant life due to it's applications in medicine, performance enhancement and munitions.
