We Will Never Die: Rebooted (A Halo Spartan Quest)

i mean, technically Halsey is the mother of our merry band of traumatized child soldiers.

We're just... the team mom.
[There can only be One!]...
Fortunely, This has a completely rational solution...

New Alexandria 2: A Slight Detour
New Alexandria 2: A Slight Detour.

[X]Leave: You want to go explore the city. Put some distance between you and this place.

You looked at Daisy and gave her a quiet, but very cautious smile. "Come on, we're leaving."

"And missing out on all the intel opportunities?" She asked, feeling a bit strange saying that statement, as you knew she just wanted to steal things from this place.

"No, because we should be getting home, instead of trying to steal things that aren't nailed down." You replied.

Daisy pouted. "Aww."

You rolled your eyes. "Oh don't be like that, we'll steal from Mendez's office when we get home, how about that."

Daisy nodded, at the possibility of stealing from the Chief.

You then left the apartment, through the front door.

Caught:1D100 => 98

And the apartment was completely deserted. The flashing lights of the apartment building flickered a little, but they were working fine.

"Wow this place is a dump." Daisy replied.

"I know… really makes you wonder why they would kidnap us only to dump us here…" You saw the elevator, and the stairs. "Elevator or stairs?"

"Elevator, I think we're-" She looked out the window… "Oh… We're really high up."

"So we're taking the elevator." You stated.

"Well, unless you want to walk down god knows how many stories to the bottom floor?" She stated.

You shrugged. "Fair enough."

You tapped the button and waited patiently for the elevator to reach you. It then dinged and opened, empty and waiting to ferry you to the bottom.

It was slower than continental drift.

"Are you serious… How come civilian elevators are so slow?" Daisy asked.

"Most of the elevators on Reach have to compensate for the slight increase in gravity." You replied. "So they have to move slower, so they don't break."

"And the reason military elevators are faster?"

You shrugged. "Because everything i said was a lie, and that the Reach elevator companies want to remain in business for a few more decades, until there is a demand for high speed elevators."

"Wait, really?" Daisy was confused.

"Reach does not have a need for high speed elevators except in a few choice buildings. So no one really bothers." you stated.

"And… you know this how?" She asked.

"It's obvious if you have been in an elevator before." You replied.

Daisy scratched her chin, unsure what to really say.

"Still trying to confuse people?" Light asked as he looked out the window of the elevator.

"Always." You snarked. "It's part of my charm… especially when it's true."

"You talking to me?" Daisy asked.

"No." You stated.

-[X]Contact the Base: You think you remember the Base Phone number… you only saw it once on Halsey's desk, on her phone. Rolled:1D100 => 72

You walked out of the pawn store with a cell phone. "What are you going to do with that?" Daisy asked as you sat down next to her.

"Calling home." You replied.

"Wait, we have a phone number?" She asked.

"Well, I think… I saw it in Halsey's office once." You replied.

You dialed the number into the phone and placed it up to your ear.

"Who is this?" It was Dr. Halsey. You must have called her private number.

"Sierra 131, calling on an unsecured civilian communications device." You replied.

There was a small pause. "Giancarlo, where are you?" She sounded concerned… very concerned.

"New Alexandria, unknown location, we've escaped from our kidnappers and have acquired… cash to get home."

"Wait, where did you get the money?" She asked.

"Stole it." You replied.

"We're going to need to talk about that in our debriefing." She stated quietly, where you almost missed it. "Do you have any intel for the Chief or myself… do you know who your kidnapers are?"

"No ma'am." You replied. "All we know is that they were paid in cash, had access to the base, and weren't there when we woke up."

That made the doctor pause. "That's good… John and Sam are in the city on their weekend pass with Sergeant Major Lopez. Go to them, and… be prepared to inform him of the situation."

You nodded. "Yes, Ma'am."

"And one more thing." She said as you were about to hang up. "You're not spartans in the city… you are just… you."

"You nodded. "Yes, Ma'am."

-[X]Search for the Others: You remembered one or two of your fellow Spartans getting chosen to come to New Alexandria, a gift from Mendez for being amazing Trainees… Maybe you can find them. Rolled:1D100 => 77

You reached the group at a small family-run restaurant, quietly smiling as you walked in. to a face you believed you would never see again.

"Dad." You said quietly, not saluting to give off the appearance that you were a family.

"Gian." He smiled. "Good to see you brought your friend. Sorry, we had to wait for you, but traffic was a killer."

You nodded, understanding he was playing a role to not… compromise you.

"Yeah… Sorry." You replied sheepishly.

John and Sam were waiting in the booth, drinking some water as they sat, waving for you to come over.

"So, about the credits." He said to daisy.

Daisy did as she was told, and… handed over all the credits she had in her pocket.

"Sit down." he ordered.

As you sat, what do you do:

[]Talk to John: You didn't expect John to win a Weekend Pass… what did he do, clean Mendez's Boots?

[]Talk to Sam: The Second Tallest Spartan after Jorge, he was enjoying a snack of French fries… it appears he was happy that you were there.

[]Talk to Dad: You didn't expect to see your father here… or again for that matter… why was he here.?

[]Talk to Daisy: She looked at you with a funny face. "Um… why were you talking to yourself on the Elevator?"

[]Sleep: You are going to sleep. Screw what discipline you have… you just want to dream.

AN: Enjoy the update.

[X]Talk to Dad: You didn't expect to see your father here… or again for that matter… why was he here.?

Might as well take advantage of the opportunity, right? Who knows how long he will be around with all the intrigue going on.

I know that i've said we would talk to John... But guys, this is something! I doub't we will be able to do this any other time for quite a while...

EDIT: @Deuterium Dawn Has a point, we shouldn't do this in front of the others...
I'm torn between
[]Talk to John: You didn't expect John to win a Weekend Pass… what did he do, clean Mendez's Boots?
And
[]Talk to Daisy: She looked at you with a funny face. "Um… why were you talking to yourself on the Elevator?"

Though, admittedly, I would be fine with talking to our Father as well.

Honestly a little torn. We're still kind of dealing with daisy and haven't really interacted all that much, there are two other spartans right there, and who knows when well be able to talk to our dad again, though I'm not sure we should do that in front of the others, since they never will.

People always tell me the sign of a good QM is creating choices that are all relevant, all perfectly acceptable, but also for the fact there can be only one chosen.

give a choice, and have people choose...

Well, I try to make a quest interesting, and not railroad...I really hate it when people say I railroad without any sort of proof... or when people choose the options that are most similar to canon and then blame me for following canon.

Wait, people does that?

Well that must be annoying...
