Almost certainly Necoho Shit, given floridus is almost certainly the one who got Ambrose to give us the Necoho Sword.

Necoho Shit isn't GREAT but when we're up against "the great horned rat is about to come into existence" it is very much a hell of a lesser evil.

Forgot to mention, that t Arkhan note was some immersive writing. Is it originally from this quest or is it from some WHF RPG source?

[X] Plan: Connections High and Low
-[X] Mervin, Gentleman Butler
-[X] Rosamunde, Wily Freedwoman

[X] the manor

You can hire one without straining your finances, while two would take up a great deal of your bribe money, combined with the wages for the clergy you're planning on hiring later in the week.
We can pick two right? These two are both useful enough I'm down to take more work to pay for their bonuses.

Edit: actually, should we vote for servants and mission separately?

You can hire two. Would prefer a separate vote for both categories, though, thanks.

Yeah I'm gonna hazard a guess here: the place that skavenblight becomes doesn't start as a fucked up poison marsh. The princeps, given the choice, probably doesn't want to rule from a poison marsh.
Ergo. The princeos and his fuckery didn't make skavenblight into a poison marsh. Which just leaves any of our erstwhile allies and any Parthian shots they may have keyed up.

Or the skaven just made it happen themselves as a result of their everything.

Further, Xenophon will become a member of the Star Chamber of Mystic Commerce (SCOMC), unlocking actions and intel.
That makes me think we should take that guy as butler, knowing more about the going out of the magical economy could be very useful.

"May those who utter against us die a violent death! May those who plot against us be called to account by the tempest and drought! May those who rise against us be smote, and on their bones, a true order built!"
That's always nice to hear from religious folks…

You realize, suddenly, that there's been not a hint of divine magic this whole ritual – not in the priest, not in the torch – but the Flame – you See, and you cannot say what it is, but know enough to be afraid.
No divine magic? So that's regular arcane magic.

You see, suddenly, not a statute, but a girl, with rushes for hair and a beaver's teeth, and eyes as black as caviar. Her dress is made of fishbone, and she's gone no feet but just water pouring below, ever, ever flowing. Her mouth is open in a silent scream, as the flame – impossibly, takes her. You see in her beautiful shining holiness
The spirit – the soul – the God – crumples in on itself, folding, rotting, collapsing
Did… did he just killed a god/spirit? So they're not just using human souls to power the ritual, but spirits too. I wonder how they trapped that spirit inside the statue, or if it's just voodoo.

Isn't he a good of despair?

There is – just nothing, a void – as any person who had never touched magic or been touched by the Gods might appear; so healed, it looks like nothing had ever happened to him at all.

Perfectly ordinary. But why do you feel such dread?
Maybe because they managed to seemingly sever his connection to his god? The fact that his soul seems free of any magical taint and the ritual makes me think it's not his original soul, but another one. I'm not excluding the possibility it's a demon. Either way, I don't want that guy near anything important.

"You insult me" Ambrose replies, grinning "that I would take someone so interesting somewhere so terribly boring."
That's flattering. Is that a hint he likes us too?

You think, momentarily, this is an insane setup for a date,
That's hilarious.

Alright, i'm calling it but there's something wrong with our interactions with Ambrose, our PC is usually reserved (i think that's the word i'm looking for) with his internal thoughts even when we first interacted with Ambrose but the last couple of updates, we are eyeing him up and only just him and no one else, its feels like we are under his enchanment or he has a glamour that is directly targeted at seducing us. Feels like he is a slaneeshi plant in disguise.

[X] Plan: Free Union

I like the idea of surrounding ourselves with freed slaves and union men

Reason for such an important choice: the comedy potential is too good to pass up:tongue:
There is a non-0% chance Rosamunde is vulnerable to Chaos, either Tzeench or Slaanesh... well, at least it won't be one of the 1313 factions of this stinkin' city.

The Raven looks horrified. I volunteer as his direct superior. The Raven looks worse, but then does it for me, cutting his hand, his vitae mingling with the dark elf.
...
Item 5#: the End of the World
  • The Raven explains the approximate thrust of his late visions.
  • There is general silence.
  • Iefyr swears his loyalty, confirmed in blood, till the "Rhana Dandra".
  • The freedmen all cut their hands too and thrust them towards the Raven, who accepts, saying they have no fear of Death, for Death's Chosen leads them.
  • The sisters and I get into it too and join in blood.
  • The Raven is on the verge of tears, and then leads us in a rousing hymn – the hymn of the Roost– "Abide with Me".
Supercool, we did our own vaulderie, like a Sabbat pack in Vampire The Masquerade. Just with 100% less murder (for now) and 200% actual good intentions ;)

To summarize:

Now we know the general mechanics of the Princep's plan and the shape of the doom to come. Thanks Arkhan.
Also we have confirmation that the Tower is not only a danger to the people of the city, but to spirits and divinities themself.

The restored roost and all our coreligionists are pretty exciting developments, I'm particularly interested in the dark elf squire, and what is the deal with the medium twins. Are they untrained wizards with an affinity for shyish?

The visit at the temple of Tyleus and the trials once again showed that pretty much all institutions of this city are hopelessly corrupt. What Ifound of particular interest was the lack of divine presence in the temple of Tyleus, just regular, man made magic. Does this mean the patron god of this city has abandoned his people? Was it always smoke and mirrors and the temple was always a sham?

Ambrose discovered a large scale warp stone smuggling operation, illegal and connected to the highest circles of the city.

All the possible hired hands are pretty interesting and it is a shame that we can't employ all of them.

[X] Plan: Free Union
-[X] Slim Al, Union Mage
-[X] Rosamunde, Wily Freedwoman

The passive income would be nice, but in the end I want us to go all in on information gathering among the magical community and the different areas of the city. Union connections and to the criminal element will almost certainly come in handy too. Telegraph operations could be useful for communicating with our co-conspirators.

[X] the workshop

Actual physical evidence. As long as they didn't burn the shop down. And even then there are neighbors.

A fascinating look at various theories on the soul. I'm guessing Arkhan's notes are the ones that hit closest to how things actually work, both because of Nagash's(?) response and my own suspicions on what the Princeps is after. Wonder what the missing ingredient is? Pure magic? It'd explain what the use of the warpstone in the sewers would be.

You realize, suddenly, that there's been not a hint of divine magic this whole ritual – not in the priest, not in the torch – but the Flame – you See, and you cannot say what it is, but know enough to be afraid.
Well, this means either there is no such thing as the God Tyleus or the ritual has been subverted at some point. The Flame is concerning. It's not divine as Xenophon would have not had that reaction.
burnt so much you can see her soul, a tiny, white, weak thing, a little minnow
Hmm... some sort of minor God, akin to a God of a specific river or some such? Possibly an elevated spirit.
Somewhere very far away, a spring dries up, and a people begins to die.
Shit. That's probably one of the missing ingredients, for the Princeps ascension to divinity. Consuming the energies of a God to provide a framework for the Princeps own ascension.

Side note, the mention of yet more horns on the Princeps statues is a further link to the Horned Rat in my mind.
"I AM THE GENERAL VOCULA – BEWARE THE F-A-L-S-E!".
General Vocula! You're a bold one.

Well, we've got another reason to try and investigate Vocula. F-A-L-S-E... Is that an anagram of something or was he just trying to say False?
You Look at them both. Angelus' subject's soul is visibly magically damaged – the edges of it visible, jagged and black and burnt. Sanguine – you realize with a start the thread of divinity within him that marked him as a chosen of Morr is gone. There is – just nothing, a void – as any person who had never touched magic or been touched by the Gods might appear; so healed, it looks like nothing had ever happened to him at all.

Perfectly ordinary. But why do you feel such dread?
Oh good, Floridus might be up to something bad. Good. Great. Like we didn't need yet another potential conspiracy to deal with. If anything pops up next turn to directly help Floridus I'm going to avoid taking it until we've confirmed Sanguine is healthy.

On Sanguine himself, I'm in two minds personally. I understand Xenophon's concern and why it is so horrible a thing to contemplate, but on the other hand Sanguine's state was so poor it is hard to say this isn't a miraculous improvement. So long as there aren't any unpleasant side effects.

Feel really sorry for Angelus' patient though. How the hell did he expect to win if his method was to literally cripple his patient in the process? I doubt Floridus needed our help for this, though it did get us some information on him.
He comes back the next day, sweaty and covered in dust, his face set in a (still inexplicably charming) pout. "They cleared out her office absolutely" he says, as he distractingly changes while giving you his report. A very fit boy. Anyways – "Don't know who, but there wasn't dust bunny or a scrap of paper till the time I got access. They don't let people into the actual Spring, where I'd presume the rest of her stuff is, or Temple proper, so that was a dead end."
BUGGER!
I'm thinking I need to give up on figuring out what precisely happened that night at the theatre. At the very least the quest itself seems determined to keep it hidden.
You didn't find anything on Marvos, but you can't help but be pleased. For the first time since arriving at the Cities, you're not just a pawn, but have a card to play. You can't wait to upset the board.
Not what I wanted, but it's at least something to feed the Princeps. If he needs the warpstone in the city for whatever reason someone smuggling it out is a problem. If he based his God ritual on Arkhan's work then the Princeps may also suspect Nagash to be capable of the same. It'd be a wedge between the two at least.

For the vote, I'm only going to go with Parzival95's suggestion. Mervin offsets the cost of buying two servants thanks to the honey and the auto success on nobility rolls is pretty strong, while Rosamunde's free explore a district is extremely valuable to me since it's been an action I've wanted to take but can't justify.

I'll also go with the manor for what to search. It's something unique we can help with and the smuggler will likely have kept information on their customers.

I do like the idea of having a beekeeper but a union man and freed slave are too in line with my desired vibes

Hey, are you guys are trying to vote for two servants or approval vote for your two favorites? I made a plan with my picks. It's hard to tell if you don't make plans.
